Again, thanks already for those who have welcomed me.

Here's the first entry in my diary:

Male, 5'10"
Current Weight: 176
Goal Weight: 155

Today's Intake:
Breakfast: 2 poached eggs
half an avocado
2 slices bacon
1 cup black coffee
1 cup green tea
Lunch 2 ounces liverwurst
carrot and celery sticks
1 raw jalapeno
1 cup green tea
Dinner 2 small cabbage rolls (cabbage, ground beef, rice, spices, tomato sauce)
1 and a half cups roasted butternut squash
1 teaspoon butter
1 can seltzer water

Water throughout day

Estimated Calories for day: 1055

Exercise: 2.3 mile brisk walk

When I avoid binging/snacking for the day, this is fairly typical. Its a little lower, calorie-wise than I like, I'm trying to stay around 1300 calories a day for now. Just been fighting a bit of a cold and wasn't very hungry.

As always I appreciate your thoughts!

Hey, welcome aboard!

Your calories seem pretty low. Are you doing any resistance training? With calories that low, I would consider it - otherwise you're going to lose a lot of muscle. You'll lose fat too, but losing the muscle will make it harder to eat at a normal range when you hit your goal because your metabolism will have taken a big hit from the lost muscle.

Just my opinion!

Jenni, you're right. I mentioned in an earlier thread that 2 of my challenges that I have to work in regularly are more calories, cardio, and resistance.
I'm starting from a place of what I believe is low metabolism, and that is one of the reasons my weight is stalled. So, thank you, and keep bugging me, and hopefully I'll make some progress on those fronts.

I don't know how old you are, because age does make a difference in these things, but if you train right and smart, you could be sporting a 6-pack at about 165. I say hit the weights, forget about cardio, and keep a very modest deficit or eat at maintenance and recomp. You'll look better and be able to eat more.

Jenni, thanks. I'm smiling a little bit at your comment, but right or wrong, I'm going to be a little more modest in my goals. As someone who has been out of shape for the last 20 years (I'm 63), and was pushing 200 pounds at my heaviest and did no exercise, I've lost almost 24 pounds since October 1, 2017, feel better, and have at least a partial grip on my formerly awful eating habits. I still have 21 more pounds (goal weight is 155) to go, and know I'm going to have to get resistance training into the mix if I'm going to get there, so I do appreciate your thoughts on this. As for the 6-pack....well never say never, and it would impress all the other old guys at the Senior Center here! :)

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you've made great progress over the last couple months!

Thanks, Cory.....I spent most of last year trying to get mindful and creating some habits about eating and dealing with cravings...started losing..kind of hit a stall at the end of December...joined here this month to get some feedback from all of you. Now I'm having fewer issues with food choices, however, I need to step it up to get to my goal weight.

Yesterday's info:
Breakfast: 3.75 ounces sardines in water
2 scrambled eggs
1 tablespoon butter
1 black coffee
1 green tea
Lunch: 1 cabbage roll
half avocado
2 ounces liverwurst
green tea
Dinner: 2 cheese enchiladas/red sauce
lettuce, jalapeno. onions, some diced avocado, hot sauce
1 glass red wine

Exercise: 2.5 mile brisk walk

1600 calories
Current weight 176
Goal Weight 155

LaMaria...they're ridiculously good tasting. Made from scratch red sauce from dried guajillo and ancho chilis. Unfortunately, a bit of a carb bomb. But since I'm trying to up my calories a little to get out of this stall, I used it as a sorry excuse to grovel in my Mexican foodie addiction. : )

Miss me with the liverwurst, but I might be willing to stab someone for an enchilada right now.
