Nothing To Loose - That is the goal

I'll have to re-read it, but I think they suggest to do some form of cardio (walking, jogging, biking or rowing) in addition to weight training, although they did not specify exactly how much cardio to do.

I've only skimmed the booklet, so might have missed something. When I read the whole thing, I'll post some more.

I've done the 1200 calories and 1000 calories, and from experience I can tell that 1000 felt too low to me, and there was just no breathing room to get in sweets or alcohol or "fun" stuff, and definitely can't go out or have social family gathering on 1000 calories, and it would not work for me in a long term.

They also tell you to eat 60:20:20, meaning 60% of total daily cals come from carbs, 20% from protein, and 20% from fat. I don't think that this is something that would work for me personally, but that is what they are advising. I think I'm something like 40-30-30...

those calories do seem low but i think that is for someone who has more to lose than you...i'd say (i'm not a nutritionist) but to stick to nothing less than 1200 calories as i can say first hand that put me into 'starvation mode' and caused more plateaus than necessary. i think the biggest mistake people make is not eating enough. you need to fuel your body so that you lose FAT and not fat/muscle...lbs may come off but overall, you want to build muscle and lose fat...i'll get off my soap box but ntl, i think if you add in the bowflex training and build muscle, you'll be surprised how your inches will drop :). Enjoy it!!

Yeah, I'm sticking to my 1400 calories. I totally agree with you. I seem to be able to do that quite easily, and fit in fun things.

Yesterday we put together the beast. It was not too hard, but still timeconsuming. It looks much bigger in the living room then on the floor at sears. :)

BTW, this week has not been great for me. I made a mistake. I did not get enough sleep since last weekend, and it really snowballed on me today. I could not get up on thur and fri to exercise in the morning, and once I did get up, I felt too weak to exercise. I'm still feeling weak and tired. So lesson for the future: I cannot afford to miss sleep!!! This weekend I will let my body recover and catch up on sleep, and starting Monday I will get back to exercise and start using Bowflex. I will also have to start from the beginning a bit, since my muscles will be a bit weaker.
I won't go completely without exercise though: Saturday is riding, and Monday I ride in a horse show.

lookin good!! remember with the new bowflex too that it will be harder and a strain on your muscles differently so go easy at the beginning but follow their regimen and you should be good!! happy friday!

Good morning all! I am back after long weekend.

Saturday hubby and I went for massages. It was good, but both of us had sore muscels the next day after massage! That never happened to me before - is that normal?

Saturday I had a lesson on my horse, and Monday I was at a horse show all day (boy, it was hot). I hope I burned a lot of calories showing my horse. :)

Because of massage and horse show I did not get to Bowflex yet. Today I'm still recovering from the horse show, but hope I'll feel well enough to get to bowflex today. I am not going to do anything streneous, but will try several exercises, to get a bit of a workout going.

I have not been tracking calories, but I kind of keep track of what I'm eating in the process of the day and trying to stick to how my body feels.

I have had a high calorie meal Friday to celebrate hubby's birthday. Also, we've made apple pie for the same reason, so in a last 6 days I had almost half of it. I've been trying to eat on the lighter side though. This week will be detox and bowflex!

Glad you got your bowflex, you should have some fun with that. Yeah it is normal to be sore after a massage, if they did a good job lol. Hope your hubby had a lovely birthday and its totaly cool to have a special meal on a special occasion. I am sure you were right back on track the next day. Be careful of not tracking your caleries though, thats were people tend to slip up as they start guessing. Mind you you have been doing it for long enough now that you would have all your favourite foods down. Hope your having a great day.

Okay, then - detox and bowflex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hop to it!!

And, why are you not tracking calories, my dear??

Yeah, Zoila, your warning is right about not tracking calories. I think I am eating a little more, but one thing is that I cannot count calories for the rest of my life. At some point I need to develop a sence of what is enough for me. I hope I am developing that sence. If I stop loosing weight or start gaining, I will go back to counting calories, even though I'd rather not. I am still keeping the eye on my goal, so while I may be experimenting and screwing around sometimes, I am determined to get there sooner or later...

Skyler - just saw your note, right after posting mine above. Hope I already answered the question... But I just want to say - I'm kind of keeping the same type of diet as I was before, and I'm not on planning on eating more. Have been getting 1200-1500 calories per day, so I think I'll stay at that level without having to write things down, since I'll be eating pretty much the same things as before, as I'm not really plan to change my diet by much. Yes, occasional things happen (like pies and birthdays) to derail it, but overall I think I'll be ok. I know to still keep close attention to what I'm putting in my mouth.
My new focus will be bowflex in the coming weeks, and I will be tracking my fitness progress(my hubby already created database for it!!!).

Ok, I did the bowflex yesterday! I was surprized that it took me 30 min, but I prob. spent much more time figuring it out then I will in the future.
Have to say, the exercises were a little weired and it felt weired. I have not done any "machine" in a very long time(>7 yrs) and I just could not get used to it. Its definitely not like working against your own body. I am sure I will get used to it eventually. I need to figure out how to use my muscles correctly and in proper form to work out.

My arms/upper body are still sore from Monday's horse show, so I am not sure whether I'll work them out tonight or not. I may wait until Thursday for that.

Thanks, NewBride! Yes, I'll have to get used to it, I know! But its not a bad thing - I've enjoyed what I did so far! It was just kind of different, and I could not tell whether I was working out hard enough or not, because the feel of the weight lifting is just so different!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to doing some more!

It's good you've found something a little different to what your used to. Variety is the spice of life as they say so hopefully you'll see a difference soon! ;)

I really need to start trying new stuff myself... how much are slimming machine these days? *runs and hides*:D

Ok, yesterday I did not do much in terms of exercise because of evel TOM. I really feel annoyed that I have to put my life on hold and be sick just because of some reproductive system cycle. Those things should be painless and unnotisable. How am I suposed to survive "natural selection" process and run away from tiger in the wilderness, if I cannot do anything? I think the nature made a big mistake there. :)
<---rant over --->

Planning to do my upper body workout today. I will make a schedule of doing 4 workouts per week, 2 for lower body and 2 for upper body. I'll need to add bike riding to it also, but I'll have to schedule it around my riding, which is at least 2 times per week. I hope bowflex will kick-start my weight loss again.

Today was my arms and back day as well, I trieddoing heavier weights for less reps but I think my arms gave up in protest about half way through!:D I hope your work out is more successful than my one heh!

Haha you made me laugh with your little rant. Am going through the same thing at the moment so know how you feel. Think your thinking is on the right track. You will get use to your new machine in no time. Its always weird the first couple of times you do something new. How is Hubby likeing it?. I think its cool he set up a database so you can track your results. Keep up the good work.

RN is right.. you are so close to your goal! and i agree with you about getting used to having a sense of diet instead of controlling it rigidly.
