I'll have to re-read it, but I think they suggest to do some form of cardio (walking, jogging, biking or rowing) in addition to weight training, although they did not specify exactly how much cardio to do.
I've only skimmed the booklet, so might have missed something. When I read the whole thing, I'll post some more.
I've done the 1200 calories and 1000 calories, and from experience I can tell that 1000 felt too low to me, and there was just no breathing room to get in sweets or alcohol or "fun" stuff, and definitely can't go out or have social family gathering on 1000 calories, and it would not work for me in a long term.
They also tell you to eat 60:20:20, meaning 60% of total daily cals come from carbs, 20% from protein, and 20% from fat. I don't think that this is something that would work for me personally, but that is what they are advising. I think I'm something like 40-30-30...
