no spotter

been recomended as part of my work out some exercises that are recomended with spoters...Ie skull crushers...

fact is all my gym going mates go at different times due to conflicting work schedules etc.

so rather than training once to failure would working that exercise half as hard but twice as often have the same long term effect?

I would say just put enough weight where you know you wont get stuck on it. Meaning.... if your gonna bench press make sure you can finish your last rep without it falling back at you. I been working out without a spotter for 1 year and i managed... im sure you can. And yes the gains should be about the same.

many exercises that truely need a spotter (bench press) you can simply grab dumbbells instead. that way if you get stuck, you could just drop the dumbbells. noisy, but at least you live.

But I've found that most guys at the gym won't hesitate to spot you for a set or two if you ask very nicely...espeically if you go often enough that they've seen you.
