No Room For Failure!

Well here goes...

I'm Hayley, 36 and on a long journey.. from 300 lbs to 145!

I've now lost 33 lbs in 4 weeks, sounds kinda harsh i know but i'm not going hungry..i've taken up walking and have been out with my 2 dogs every night for a month for at least 40 minutes a night (which was hard work at first, used to come back looking as red as a baboon's bum! )

It's gotten much easier since and now comfortably manage 3 miles in 40 mins

When i reach my first short term goal of losing 50 lbs by my birthday (sept 22) i'm gonna start swimming too (feel way to self conscious at the moment, if the lifeguard mistook me for an off-course whale i'd die!) :p

So apart from the exercise i'm eating a balanced healthy diet.. i've cut out snacks and junk food and replaced them with fruit and veg, i'm limiting my fat intake and slurping as much water as i can!

I've been fat all my life and it never really bothered me till about 2 years ago (i'm 36 at the mo) I lost 56 lbs 2 years ago but put 28 back on. Just decided its time now to get slim! My highest weight ever was 328 lbs but this time i started at 300 lbs. I set out with a goal of losing 155 lbs, now down to 122..

I'm really motivated this time and i'm gonna succeed..

who's gonna join me?:D

Hayley :D

Hayley, I'm here for you! Sounds like you have been heading in the right direction and working so hard already...good for you! 3 miles in 40 minutes is awesome! We all have our imperfections...I have a serious phobia of scales and my ticker has not moved because I am afraid to get on. So I just go by how my clothes have been fitting:p . THis forum is great and very supportive! So add me to your cheering section ...I'll be checking in on you!

haley welcome!! you seem like a very positive person :) that additude will lead you to success. I too have a long road 116 lbs left...but im soooo taking it on. Im starting a challange on 8-21-06. It's a 6 week challange. You post a goal and try to meet it in 6 weeks. You should join with us. It's under the clubs section. I had lost 21 lbs in 2 weeks so i can see where you lost that much in 4 weeks. I couldn't believe the scale when i got on it! Great feeling huh? Well best wishes...you'll get there sooner than you know it :)

Awww thanks to both of u! :D

Just been out on an hour's dog walking session, i'm feeling better all the time now. (I normally only do 40 mins but i'm doing a weigh in in the morning..every bit helps :p )

My 6 week goal is to get from 33 lbs to 50 lbs (loss) before my birthday on the 22nd Sept, so i need to lose at least 2.5 lbs a week.. then i'm gonna treat myself to a gym membership and go do whale impressions at the pool! :D

And.. good vibes to everyone else for their goals :D

Congrats on quitting smoking (i quit a week ago... ish). I found that joining a gym really helped me stay motivated to workout... hey, if I'm paying for it, I'm going to use it!

Best of luck!

You're doing well mate! Keep it up.

I take my dogs for a walk at night too...after reading your words, I think I may start to take them for longer walks. Good for me and both of my dogs!

Thanks everyone for ur support and cheering me on! :D

12packAbs I'm glad i've spurred u on to walk longer.. i really feel its doing me the world of good, and my 2 mutts are even looking slimmer! :p

dariqueen I've got my own 6 week challenge at the mo (well 5 weeks left now!) and not really sure how i join the one on here..?

I set a goal of 50 lbs loss by Sept 22nd so got 5 weeks to lose the last 14 lbs

And... i'm getting ever nearer to getting under that 100 lb mark! It'll feel like bliss when my ticker says 56 lbs lost 99 lbs to go!! :D

Wow, you really picked up a diary and started blasting away, didn't you? Great job on all the exercise. Don't you love walking a dog? Nothing better than just you and your dog on the move. I really need to do it more. I don't have to walk them because we have a huge fenced in yard so they just run all the time they want to, but I like the company.

You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

Yeah Pineola i love walking my dogs, they always look so happy bounding around the park ( tho they're always careful not to let me out of sight!) They're only quite small dogs really and we have a large well fenced back garden too so they're getting LOADS of exercise now! :D

I went on a walk today around a local reservoir, very picturesque (except for the high winds and torrential rain! Thats dedication to exercise for u!)

My skinny partner (Craig) was moaning the whole way round that he was cold/wet/tired and accused me of being a total health freak lol, never thought i'd hear anyone say that about me! :D

I can't wait to drop the next lot of weight (14 lbs) so i can start to swim again, think it'll help tone up my big flabby belly and bingo wings lol, how we all dread that loose skin eh?

Think i'll go and have another half hour walk.. can't do any harm can it!

hmmmm, maybe i should get a dog, cats seem to hate leashes, good job on the longer walks and for all the inspiring you are doing, i keep adding 5 min. aday to my treadmill walks, i am too embarassed to walk my fat butt around town, besides after 30 min i usually colapse on the floor for 5min to recover, falling down in the middle of the street after 30min might pose a threat to my health.

Well from friday evening to sunday evening i walked 20 miles! Must be getting better cos i wasn't even stiff this morning!

Reach4.."i am too embarassed to walk my fat butt around town, besides after 30 min i usually colapse on the floor for 5min to recover"
I felt like that when i started out but then i thought oh sod it, at least i'll be out there being seen to be doing summat about it.. if people wanna snigger at me then so what, i'm beyond caring now!
Soon i'll be slim and they'll have nowt to snigger at! :D

Good job Sharona....WOW 20 miles is a lot of walking!!!!! Your going to walk youself right across "the pond" and back before the years out if you keep that up!!!!

Gawd it sucks being a woman.. why does that time of the month always have to coincide with a weigh in! I always bloat and feel like crap!

Anyway, i reckon even tho ive slogged my guts out and not cheated once all week and not lost an ounce!! ive probably built up some muscle, which is probably good in the grand scheme of things.. it should help me burn more fat!

I did a 5 mile walk last night and done another 6 miles today..i'm not giving in and i wont be defeated!! Even tho i was seriously depressed yesterday after weighing in!

Anyway...i've found a fantastic "before" picture (i use the term "fantastic" loosely..in fact it's more like "horrific" or "gruesome" ..i'm thinking i may be able to use it this hallowe'een :D )

When i'm halfway to my goal i'll post it..and a new pic :D
