Hey everyone,
I've been contemplating on making one of these for awhile! I haven't posted since I signed up here, but I've looked around. :)

A bit about me...
I'm 20...I'll be 21 in a little over a week. In May 2008 I was at my lowest weight of 143, and currently I am at 173, the most I have ever weighed. I'm 5'0", so that makes me nearly 50 pounds overweight.

According to the BMI calculator, the normal weight for my height is between 97 and 127 pounds. I'm not sure what my ultimate goal weight is yet...somewhere between there, obviously. I'll just wait and see when I feel the best.

Also, I'm a vegetarian. I haaaaaaate cooking, so I tend to go for the quick & unhealthy food. The only fruit I like is peaches. I like most vegetables, but I still have trouble planning meals that I like and that are healthy. I don't plan on depriving myself of everything, but I would still like to eat healthier.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to posting here frequently! Starting later today with a "real" post.

I used to be a vegetarian... That was probably at the unhealthiest point in my life... I was thin, but I was anemic, I couldn't even run a mile, and I had high cholesterol (unheard of since I was only in high school!). It was because I ate so many processed foods.

If you don't like cooking I suggest going to foodnetwork.com and searching under the "quick and easy recipes" category... Most of them can be made in under 30 minutes.

If you're a vegetarian it is very important to get enough protein because when you lose weight, your body not only burns fat but MUSCLE as well... unless you are eating enough protein to build it back up. So make sure to eat a lot of things like soy, chickpeas, beans, and nuts. I didn't do this when I was a vegetarian (I hate soy, beans, and chickpeas, and I'm allergic to most nuts). SO the vegetarian thing didn't really work for me but maybe you can make it work for you! :)

Welcome and good luck with your goals!
