Weigh in on Monday, Mar. 30th: HOPING TO REACH MY MINI GOAL OF 181LBS BY THIS DATE.

So I've been lurking for about three months, during this time trying to start eating healthy, going to gym, etc, but alway failing after day two or three. I get waaaay too disappointed in myself.

But here I am at it again, and I think it's the real thing this time. I joined a gym about two months ago, but for those two months only went about three times. Pathetic, I know. Well, last Monday, January 5th, 2009 I marched home right after work, threw on some gym clothes, and hit up the treadmill for 30 minutes. I did the same thing Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and finally got to 45 minutes yesterday. Yay! And the best thing about this all is that I'm actually ENJOYING THE GYM now. I have never in my life thought that this would happen, and I'm so proud of myself.

So I've hit up the gym five times this week so far and I really want to go again today. I don't think it would hurt. I've been doing a power walk on the treadmill at about 3 - 3.2mph, and sometimes I jump on the stationary bike. But I'm enjoying it, so I think I'll do five or six times a week until I reach my goal.

Aside from the exercise, I've decreased my calorie daily intake by about 1100 calories. Now, this might be extreme, but I've felt pretty good and energetic all this week. I'm considered obese, and to maintain my current weight I need about 2600 calories a day. All week (except for Wednesday when I probably ate about 2600 calories) I've taken in about 1500. If anyone thinks this is unhealthy, I'd like to know. Like I said though, my body feels fine.

My diet consists of water and a slim fast optima shake for breakfast, fruit mid morning, and a sensible lunch and dinner, with small snacks in between. I was going to do the slim fast twice a day and sensible dinner, but I tried it Monday and Tuesday and I felt rather hungry at the end of the day (with sensible snacks throughout the day), so I'm sticking with one slim fast every morning.

Thanks for reading, and I'll be posting once or twice daily!

xoxo

Thought I'd answer the sticky questions . . .

--How much weight do you want to lose? 88lbs

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? End of the year, but sooner would be nice!

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? Eating healthier, not eating until I'm stuffed, but satisfied, and going to the gym for cardio five times each week for eventually 1 hour a day (currently doing 30-45 minutes a day)

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? You guys!

-- How realistic is your goal? Pretty darn realistic

-- When will you start? I started last Monday, Jan. 5th, 2009

I don't remember exactly what I ate last week, so I'm just starting my food diary as of yesterday.

Saturday, Jan. 10th
Breakfast: Slimfast and large banana

Lunch: Three small, corn, beef tacos, not the best choice but got in a bad argument with the BF and before I knew it the tacos were gone.

Dinner: Because of the probably 1000 calories I consumed at lunch, I decided to skip dinner, but then BF brought me home a six inch Tuna Subway and I ate three inches of it. He ate the rest.

Exercise: Worked out for almost one hour between treadmill and stationary bike at gym.

Consumed about 1500 calories, burned 400.

Sunday, Jan. 11th
Breakfast: Woke up at 11 so skipped breakfast, oops.

Lunch: Tuna salad, slimfast, and medium banana

Dinner: 2 cups of mixed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, three small, half the size of my palm broiled pork chops

Exercise: Found this huge, beautiful park about ten miles away with a trail, lots of trees, a lake, oh so lovely. Walked for about 45 minutes with Holly, my chihuahua. Worked the treadmill at 3mph for 50 minutes, stationary bike for 10 minutes.

Snacks: Got hungry around midnight and had five, 5 calorie pickles. Never again! Bad stomach ache afterwards.

Consumed about 1325 calories today, burned 500 calories.

Feel really good about today. Enjoyed my workout. It's getting easier. Everyone was right, the hardest part is getting started. Lost four pounds this week. Go me!

Monday, Jan. 12th
Breakfast: Slimfast, 1/2 cup Light Yoplait Strawberry yogurt

Lunch: Skipped lunch, too busy

Dinner: Gah! Visited my grandmother and gave in to a very unhealthy Mexican dish. I need to stop going over there around dinner time.

Exercise: One hour on treadmill at 3mph.

Consumed about 1200 calories, burned 450.

I really need to focus on making healthier eating choices. It's usually lunch or dinner that gets me. But at least I've been staying under 1500 calories.

Okay, I took some measurements and before pics tonight. Don't plan on posting them until at least a month or so when I see a noticeable difference. I do think that I see a small difference from one week ago when I started working out, so I'm kinda excited.

Measured the area where my belly button crosses (which I believe is considered hips, correct me if I'm wrong) and I'm a whopping 49" around. Actual waist is 40". *Sigh* This is going to be a while, but I know I can do it. One day at a time.

Today's weigh in is 213lbs. Yaya! Five pound loss in one week, but I'm sure it'll slow down to two to three a week. Three would be awesome, but I'm not gonna over do it.

omgosh we are like exactly the same starting stats o: (im 5'3.5" soo a little shorter D: )
i think i need to be better with my calories.
you totally seem to be on the ball^^
it will be totally amazing when we get to where we want to be!

looking forward to seeing you around in the forums =P

Tuesday, Jan. 13th
Breakfast: Slimfast, 1/2 a banana

Lunch: 6" Roast Beef Subway, apple

Snack: Blueberry Bar

Dinner: This is where I went wrong. Two meatloafs, one small bowl of homemade chili. Not a very nutritous dinner.

Exercise: 37 minutes on treadmill at 3mph

Consumed 1600 calories, burned 275 calories

Not the best choice for dinner, I was just soooo hungry when I left the gym and all I could think about was what I was going to eat when I got home. I should have eaten a banana on my way to the gym. *Sighs* Still, I guess it's not too bad; I only ate 100 calories over what I should have for today. No snacks tonight! Just water!

Laaadeeedaaadaa. Not gonna dwell on it. Tomorrow is another day. Got some new work out shoes at academy today! New Balance. And they're so com.for.table! I love them. Thanks Johnny (my fiance)!

Wednesday, Jan. 14th

Lunch: Foot long Roast Beef Subway sandwich

Dinner: LOL, more Grandma's Mexican food. But it was about 560 calories.

Snacks: 1 blueberry cereal bar

Exercise: 1 hour on treadmill at 3.1 mph

Consumed 1600 calories, burned 475

6 inch sub! Not 12! Way to go.

Keep those workouts up and you will have noticable results quick and that will motivate you even more.

Thanks guys, but I'm afraid I had a very bad Saturday. It's been two weeks since I've started this lifestyle change, and today was the first day I binged. I'm not even going to write down what I ate, because it was an all day, eat anything I want day. I'm ashamed to say that I probably had around 3000 calories.

I feel bad, but I am hoping that this "I failed" attitude does not continue into tomorrow. I hope that I wake up and have a slimfast and banana as usual, and it goes back to how it's been these past two weeks. I think I am about to go to the gym and powerwalk the treadmill for a while, that may motivate me.

Saturday, Jan. 17th

Binged. Failed. Starting over tomorrow

Binged. Failed. Starting over tomorrow

Start over right now. I know it's hard when you eat one bad thing, you just kind of feel like you're going to eat badly the rest of the day. You really can't look at it that way, and just move on to a healthy next meal.

I know sometimes if I eat something unhealthy, I'll feel negative and just want to eat bad stuff the entire day. It's hard but you can get through it! :)

oLux, thank you for the encouragement. I received my first "are you on a diet?" question from someone I hadn't seen in a few months, so that also encouraged me. I feel so much better today and I am getting ready to go walk a trail for about two hours with my dog and boyfriend.

Sunday, Jan. 18th
Breakfast: Woke up late so didn't have breakfast

Lunch: Slimfast, medium mango

Snack: Medium apple

Dinner: Souper Salad - Salad with low calorie ranch, one cup of Tomato Basil soup, one cup of Vegetable Beef Soup

Snack: Special K Protein Chocolate and Peanut Butter Bar

Exercise: Walked for 100 minutes at East End Park, powerwalked on treadmill at 3.1mph for 60 minutes.

Consumed 1100 calories, burned about 600!

Keep up the good work! You're doing great! Just make sure you're eating enough. Your "out-of-control" eating on Saturday might be bc you've been undereating lately. I know that when I'd cut my calories too low, it was only a matter of time before I ended up consuming everything in site. Have fun walking! :)
