New York City Memeber-I have a Quick Question

I have been working out for 1 weeks straight. I chose to take Mon thru Friday and rest Saturday and sunday. I am trying to get toned. Im not trying to look bulky like a body builder, I have been following my cal intake because i know now that it starts with the food you put in ya mouth.

I am trying to get toned like how Demi moore was in "Strip Tease". Her body was fit toned and sexxy. Is there anything someone can tell me that will help me reach that point. Any supplements and or form of excercise. how many reps and sets. what eva it takes. Please help me.

PS. This site is the GREATEST!!

what are yu currently doing?? i can pm you what i do but i work to challenge myself and put on muscle mass, but i can change it to suit your needs mere. but to do that you need to tell where your at now and what you have access to. if you have a pic thats helpful too to see where you are starting at.

well I go to the gym- Mon thru Friday
I do -
legs (all around) like 3 to 4 sets of 10.
Bike- 10 to 20 minutes
Tread mill - 20 minutes
Arms- ( all around) 3 to 4 sets of 10

All around meaning pull ups- weights etc. for that part of my body.

I stay on the bike and treadmill since i have to burn the fat. My goal weight is 145lb I am 170 now.

before you go for the "Demi" look, you need to concentrate on losing the weight first. Gain a little muscle for metabolism purposes, but its easier to take care of one issue before tackling the second. I know what kind of workouts Jenn does, they are challenging.

Since you're just starting, keep it simple. Weight train 3 times a week, focusing on the larger muscle groups (chest, lats, shoulders, glutes, quads, bigger muscles burn more calories) and cardio 5 times a week. At least 30 minute on cardio sessions at 70 percent of your maximum heart rate. work your way up to 60 minute cardio sessions.

Get the excess weight off first, then concentrate on stepping up your game to get the "Demi in Striptease" look. :)

Your the greatest

See thats why your my best friend now. lol lol

This is my scedule and what I have been doing for this week

Monday- Thru Friday

Treadmill 20 minutes (reason being Im a moderate cig smoker)
Bike 20 minutes
Arms- 3 to 4 sets of 10 (all around) all 30lb weights
Legs-3 to 5 sets of 10 (all around) all 30 to 40 lbs weight
crunches - 3 sets of 15

If Im havin a good day Ill add 1 more set to my arms and legs and make that last set 20 @ 30 to 40lb weights

If it needs to change let me know

free weights or machines??? what specifically do you do with weights???

Well with all that money im sure she did, but Im just basing what I want on how she looked. her all around look at that moment. I will be doing it naturally -lol
maybe a few supplements. which I need a list of for women.

You DO know that Demi had help, right? Surgically?

nnoooooo machines suck, thats why you can do so much weight right away, get some free weights for at home if need be, i do i get too intimadated at the gym, guys are so rude sometimes(i get called an animal but they never offer to help spot you). free weight force you to use the stablizing muscles too and you need to concentrate on your form so you aren't just slamming the weights around, and compound exercises are important too. so lessen the machine use( keep some of it, i do a little bit-not much but a few)lol i plan on beating the ab machine at my gym- only 40 lbs to its 200 max, almost there. lol, two to three weeks and its slammed. but increase those free weights its much better and you will find you need to go lighter first get your form right and them start increasing.;)

however, not to contradict Jenn, but machines are acceptable for beginners to training. Just don't get dependant on them.

machines give a false sense of doing it right thou. i f you start off with low weight and perfect your form the it opens up a whole new world, take the bench press, you bang out big weight on the machine but not nearly as much when you have to keep abr steady and use proper form. there is aton of girls in my class that can do the machines really well with reasonable weight but failed our 50lbs lift test ofr gym. it was really bad, oh i got 100% :p . so don't rely on the false sense of strength that machines give you. i started using machines only around 6 months ago- free weights since i was 16. there is a difference in your body mechanics.

You know - Allen and Jen your both right.

JEN, I do need to stop being afraid to hit the free weights. I just always thought that the free weight are for the big dogs -lol lol but I will start my free weights on Monday no questions asked.

Allen, yes I have noticed that I am dependant on the machines. My form is quite ok. I actually met an older fellow that has been training for years and he has been showing me a bit of form, but it is always good to learn more. And I am willing to learn what ever it takes.
