LOL hey guys! Sorry sorry sorry sorry for disappearing.
Feb was dreadful. My daughter was in hospital (she's only 8

) for 8 days with an obstructed bowel then they transferred her to a specialist childrens hospital to the surgical unit thinking they might need to remove part of her colon...but thank god it started to turn around and we're now back at home and she's recovering. PHEW!
So, I spent most of Feb eating terrible hospital food (why oh why isn't it healthier>?!) or chocolate to get me through the nights - sometimes she was up being sick every hour or I had to watch the meds they were pumping into her were right. But since coming back home, although she tested negative for celiacs disease antibodies, we've cut wheat out....so no bread, no pasta, no products that have a lot of added wheat flour. I'm not 100% fanatical about it as she doesn't seem to react strongly to a little bit - but maybe the build up over time instead. It seems to be working - she feels less sick and her system is getting back to normalish...even though she is still on a combo of drugs.
As you can imagine, this has meant a huge diet change for me. I am following the Harcombe Diet (similar to Primal Diet/no processed junk or mixing protein/fat and carbs), I read the book "Wheat Belly" - would really recommend it...very interesting. Since cutting wheat, sugar and artificial sweetners out of my diet a few interesting things have happened:
1) I noticed what a load of junk they put in low fat diet products
2) how much nicer food tastes when its high quality organic veg and cooked with a real array of proper herbs and spices
3) that I don't get sleepy or dizzy mid afternoon or mid morning any more
4) that I can eat fried bacon, steaks, chicken, CHICKEN SKIN (!), eggs and cheese and still lose weight
5) that I don't miss chocolate that much (a bit of 85% dark chocolate usually does the trick)
6) that I don't CRAVE cakes, biscuits, puddings, bread, stodge...you know all the stodgy heavy stuff
7) that I sleep well and get up quite awake at 5.30am for work
8) that my food bill has gone up - I eat less overall but more of little portions of expensive nice stuff.
9) I don't get many spots or candida related stuff
10) I am less hungry and have less inclination to snack - scrambled eggs with butter and chives and smoked salmon at 6am keeps me going until lunchtime easily
11) I AM LOSING WEIGHT!
Yep. I went from 203 last time I posted to 208 in mid Feb and I am now.......
196lbs
The next stage is to get back to doing some running!!
X-update next post = I have to get back to work!!
