New Here! Wanting to get fit.

I'm back!

So, it's been like a year since I was here last - omg!

Can't believe all the time has passed.

A few things have happened in the past year - Chris and I got married, I decided to go vegetarian again, we moved, and I totally stopped working out/watching what I eat.

With that being said, I'm baaaaack!! Because I missed it here AND because I've become totally unhealthy. I weighed myself the other day (maybe 2 weeks ago) and the scale said 134! I've never weighed that much in my life....what a wake up call.

I started complaining to Chris about how unhealthy we are, we never get any exercise, etc - since we moved we canceled our gym membership as we moved quite a bit aways - about 20 minutes. Our new complex has a gym that actually is pretty nice, but I couldn't bring myself to do what I was doing before. I need motivation!

Chris suggested cardio kickboxing as something fun we could do together (he could use to shed a few pounds too), so we went and tried out a killer class (literally, I almost died LOL) and signed up!

Since then, I've been going 5x a week for an hour M-W-F and about 35 minutes Tues-Thurs. They also have a Saturday class I'm planning on doing. The cardio is really something else. The warm up alone is enough to make me collapse on its own, never mind the actual kickboxing. A typical class runs something like this....

Warm up - jumping jacks 1 minute - stop, pushups - more jacks - stop situps - more jacks - jump squats - run around the room - alternating lunges - more pushups - back to jacks - alternating knees up - run around room facing inward (side to side running) while punching - turn to face outside - back to jacks - more situps - then you PASS OUT!!! Well, not really - but the 2nd class we took, Chris totally got sick and had to go throw up in the bathroom because of the effort. Then it's bag work with a lot of different things tossed into it - dips for triceps, squat roundhouses, etc. It's a lot of work!

The best part about it is that it's so fun (at least so far) and I really feel like I've accomplished something when we're done. It's also nice to do something with Chris!

Now that I'm a vegetarian again (really pescetarian), I've swapped out one meal a day with a myoplex bar to help with my protein, been chugging water during the day and eating a fairly healthy array of fruits (I could use more veggies, though). I swapped out chips/cookies for asian rice crackers which are sooooo delicious (at least I <3 'em!) and making better choices in general. I've been doing a good job so far with portion control and can only hope that I keep it up!

I hope everyone else is doing great and still on the wagon, unlike my undisciplined self! Hopefully I can keep up the kickboxing, especially since Chris and I can go together.

So, yesterday Chris and I went to kickboxing during my lunch break, and I could feel something wasn't right with my ankle - but I did the routine anyway, and towards the middle my ankle really started to twinge. I had to leave early anyway to go back to work, so i went to work but my ankle still felt weird.

It's hard to describe, but it kind of feels like it's in the socket wrong, like if I cracked it the right way the pain/odd feeling would go away. I've got full range of motion and did crack it a few times but the feeling stayed. Last night I elevated with ice on/off and took 2 advil. This morning it feels better but is still there. I picked up a support brace and am going to try to do most of the kbxing tonight, I may just not kick and only do the punches....I guess it'll depend on how the ankle's feeling.

Lunch yesterday was a myoplex bar w/water, apple and rice crackers. Dinner was 1/2 can of progressive minestrone soup, fruit and rice crackers.

Breakfast this morning was a myoplex bar, a banana and fruit. Lunch was vegetable and tofu lo mein from pei wei - i had about 1/2 a serving.

I'll probably have some more lo mein for dinner with some more fruit.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Dawn! I'm so glad that you are back on here. I just started posting again, too. Wow, vegetarian--go you!! How's your ankle doing? Any better?
