New Girl!! =)

First, I just wanted to thank you guys for being buddies to me =) I appreciate it. Ive read some of your other threads and it seems like everyone has such a good story, come such a long way and kicked some major butt =) Glad to have help from some of the best.
Anyway...never made it to the restuarant becuase we got lost...haha. So would I be safe with whey? For some reason, Ive developed this odd fear of consuming too much protein, thinking I'll gain more muscle under this layer of flab Ive got going on. Ive definitely got plenty of muscle and that is one thing im not trying to get more of. I used to workout with a personal trainer, training for the fitness show route (I was interested but I was really young...not ready to devote that much of my life to it) and I was drinking whey shakes and i loved them. I could probably sneak those into class...even though its the "water bottle only" policy. So if I know that its not going to pack on the muscle, Im all for it =) Protein bars are a good idea too. Maybe I will attempt to make some this weekend!

yeah give whey another shot. Despite your fears muscle is good and the more you have the more calories it, in and of itself, burns. Drinking whey or injesting any other protein source by itself will not make you build muscle as much as it will maintain what you have so that muscle doesn't get burned during your workouts, and fat replaced. Protein helps regulate insulin levels. Without it I eat a half gallon of ice cream :) is a carb and cravings killer.
Try increasing your protein, lowering the processed carbs and keep your exercise routine and I bet you'll find you'll begin to see the results you want.

Thai food

Good question, since I generally have pahd thai (thai noodles) which by and large have meat in with them... Your best bet is to ask your server, if the menu isn't obvious.

Well, pad-thai really shouldn't have a lot of meat. Actually you can choose if you want vegie or meat or seafood or combo, I usually get tofu. :)

During cold weather, go for the soupy noodle. They are delish! And because it's soup, you get fill up fast ^^ And typically you can choose the kind of noodles you want: egg noodle, or flat rice noodle.

Oh, Welcome back to Diary :) Glad you come back and start posting again!

I used to be affraid of "Looking like Arnold", to quote someone here ;) hehehe. But really though, I ended up just firmed up. Which is cool. :D Now I just can't get enough of it!

I know Stingo is not fond of protein bar (and I'm sure he will be able to help us here with some recipe to make a home made one :p ) but I say it is a convenient supplement/snack when you are in a pinch. And by looking at your schedule, seems you are bz gal. I do eat a bar in portions :p A bite here a bite there. I think Sparrow got better suggestion in pre-cutting the bar into smaller pieces.

P.S. Tom, you got recipe for making protein bars?

Although I've not made this yet, I have had it made for me and it was very tasty. (And recommended to me by the former manager of the gym I go to).

Peanut Butter Granola Bars

I'm not against all protein bars - just the glorified candy bars... (You can be sure a protein bar made by SNICKERS is roughly similar to their candy bar but for a few added grams of protein.) Plus most are highly processed. This is also why I don't care for whey and supplements - my feeling is you should be able to get all your nutrients from a well balanced, healthy diet of whole natural foods. Since that's not always feasible, nor convenient, a good multivitamin to fill any holes would be ok.

Glad to see you in my thread kiria =) looks like Im going to be sneaking in protein bars to classss....dont think that will be a problem =) Im definitely trying that recipe out because I love dried cranberries....delicious.

So if you havent noticed, my workouts have been crap lately....basically just doing powerwalking cardio....which is not like me at all, Im used to challenging myself to 5 and 6 miles run plus more......but the energy for that has been completely nonexistent. But I think I figured out why.....Ive had no source of meat (except some turkey) since I had the half hula bowl at max and ermas LAST saturday....!! Im pretty sure this is the reason for my tiredness.....Ive been through this before and some good chicken fixes the problem =)So today Im going to eat a chicken breast....and try to actually workout today. I'll post later on how it goes.

Yup, protein! :)

If you don't eat read meat, then get chicken, fish (i love fish), tofu.

Thanks for the recipe for the bar, Tom! Ima try it ^^

My update for yesterday......
finally ate a good piece of chicken =) yummy. also had...
a shake with a banana. its a whey powder but it doesnt have any ingredients that I cant identify. Heres a few besides the whey- flax meal powder, brown rice protein powder, buckwheat juice powder, brussel sprouts, kale, barley grass, alfalfa juice powder, grape seed extract...and so on. Wierd, I know. Its 90 cal, 1 g fat 5 carbs 2 fiber and 10 protein. (withought the banana of course)
apple
couple rice cakes
gave into some dark choc =) im such a dark choc lover....so I have it, but in moderation! But I make sure its the darkest I can find so that I get all those antioxidants...plus avoid the milky ingredients!
and a few baked lays, but they are finally gone so no more!
workout was 20 min on the elliptical at 8 intensity and 25 min run intervals.

So far today Ive had my trusty oat bran =) and I put a teaspoon of applesauce in it just for the flava ;-)
