Im scared. I am starting today on what seems to be a daunting and scarey jounrey.

i am 155 to 160 lbs....

I want to be 115 lbs.....

45 lbs seems alot, I dont know where to start. i thought maybe since Im alone in this journey, that posting pics would be a good start to face where im at so i can move "Down" from there.

but im too depressed to even point a camera at myself.

can i just have some words of encouragement and advice??

anyone been in my state before?

Welcome to the forums! Check out the stickies...they are very informative and helpful and may answer many of your questions.

I have a quick question for you? How tall are you? 115 pounds is pretty low for a goal weight, unless, of course, you are very short! I am 5'2", and am now maiintaining my weight loss at around 120 pounds, which has worked out well so far!

Good luck on your journey!

i am 5'4, but used to be 109 lbs for most my life. i think that is way too skinny.

what's this stickies?

No need to be scared. You have to believe in yourself and KNOW you can do it. Soon you WILL be doing it. My favorite trick was to do 10 lbs at a time. Make 149 your first goal, 139 your second, etc. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Put your mind to it, tell everyone else, including your own negative thoughts, to shut the hell up and just go out there and kick some ass! :coolgleamA:

Some tips...
Go buy yourself a heart rate monitor. If you are out of shape right now, just worry about maintaining a target heart rate for the first couple months. About 20 to 30 minutes in your heart rate zone for three or four times per week.
You must burn more calories than you consume. That can be hard but read around and you will learn a lot.

You shouldn't be scared. You should be excited that you have finally taken the step in accomplishing your goal! :)

Honestly though, I would go and take those photos. Before you know it you would have lost 25lbs already and wished you had photos to compare yourself to!

I started my journey 88lbs ago and I didn't take photos then, when I started, for the very same reasons you do not want to take them. I was sad, depressed and did not want to face the camera. Now that I am 88lbs lighter I really wish I had taken those photos. I only have photos to compare myself to from about 50lbs ago, still a lot, but certainly no 88.

Just stay positive. Take it one day at a time and if you go off track don't stress. Just get back on the very next day. Eat right, good portion sizes and regular exercise and before you know it you will be at your goal weight! :)

I feel your pain... don't give up. Keep checking everyone's diary or pictures, they're so motivating! Good luck!

re new and scared

Hi
I am right where you are as far as the amount of weight I want to lose.. about 45 lbs, maybe more. I am scared too but you took the first step! This is a great supportive board, good luck to you!

wow. thanks everyone! I started, and this week I lost 5 lbs! Im down to 151.

I like the 10 lbs at a time goal. i cant wait to see 149!!!

Maybe by next week ill be on my way to 139?

:) this forum is so great. everyone is so nice and helpful and motivating.

thank you!

hey, just catching up :) congratulations on starting your new life! Like someone else said, I would take those pics and put them up, serves as motiviation to never get back to your previous weight, also, you will lose weight and then not have anything to compare it to, that's the boat i'm kind of in now, I wish I would have documented the fat guy that lived in my brain a bit more before i banished him.
