New accomplishment!

Well, I've been on my weight loss journey for a year and a month officially tomorrow...
I started at 215 on May 9th, 2010.
Today was 163...
I've made it past 50 pounds! I'm crazy happy about this, seeing as a year is a long time to keep seeing that scale showing only .2 or .8 drop... sometimes there'd be no drop, and a few times a depressing raise.
Not only have I reached 50, but for the first time in years when I checked my BMI online, I've moved from the "Obese" category to "Over Weight". To have both of these happen in the same day just made me realize how much I've truly accomplished, and how much happier I am about my body.
So onwards and cheers to moving forwards! I have less than 30 more pounds to go, with a much brighter outlook about reaching my goal.

Congrats 50 pounds is awesome...and taking a year probably helped in the long run..you have slowing become accustom to your new weight gradually....way to go!!

It actually took a year due to a lot of reasons...
First part was I had just moved, lived in a VERY rural town, with no car and really no way to even get into the nearest 'town' much less the 'city'. The only work out I had available to me that wasn't just watching tv and mimicking was walking. Now, I may have only weighed 215, but I've had bad knees my whole life. The new location and warmth helped a lot towards less pain while just moving around the house, but more then 10 minutes of walking usually ended in bad pain and a knee popped out of place (VERY painful). Seriously, walking was out of the question, especially since the ground wasn't level, and a bad step would pop my knee out. So, I just changed my diet (cut the sweets way down, lessened the breads, upped the veggies).
After I lost about 15 pounds and had lived in the warm environment for a while I discovered I could walk a lot longer without popping my knee out. Around this time, however, I got my job... a physically demanding job. I decided to not add a workout, and stayed with the 'better eating, and working' diet. After about 6 months I was invited to start dancing. I happily joined, and then a few months later joined a different dance club. At this point I was eating healthy, working my job, and dancing twice a week. After 7 months (christmas), I bought a wii with the sole purpose of doing dancing and 'sports' that would keep me moving.
It's now been a year and a few months, and I've hovered right on the 50 pound line, but am eating quite well (little dairy, small amounts of chicken/turkey for meat, various protein foods, lots of veggies - LOVE the V8 - and some fresh fruit), I'm dancing once or twice a week, working, and playing on the wii at least once a week. I just moved, and gained a dog, so my new goal is to start walking at least twice a week.
It was a long year, but I feel amazingly better. I'm able to stand 8 hours at work, and the only thing hurting is my back (lingering from an accident a few years back), walk with my family for more then an hour (leisurely or brisk, doesn't matter), and keep my energy levels high (my coworkers are starting to say I'm popping uppers :p ). I still have another 30 pounds to go, but am hoping it won't take another year!

That's such a great accomplishment! I'm trying to do the same thing. I came down from 225 to 180, back up to 210 and down to 203 in 2 weeks. my ultimate goal is 150 but I really want to lose 20 pounds the next 10 weeks. Reading these forums and stories like yours keep me going!

Firstly, you've done incredibly! :) You should be so proud!

Haha, I remember seeing that move from the 'Obese' to 'Overweight' as well :) It's the small victories that really count sometimes :)

You'll get there for sure :D Be sure to keep us posted and congrats again!
