never trained before and need help

hi, im new to the forums here and i'd like some help. i have never weight trained before. i would like to buy some home equipment so i can start weight training. what i would like to know is what equipment i will need to weight train. the obvious equipment i need will be a bench, dumbbells, a bar and weight plates. is there anything else i will need to help me with my weight training? Thanks.
 
a pullup thing would probobly be nice.
you should get what you need to do bench, squat, deadlifts, pullups or rows. atleast.
but im no expert on working out at home
 
for bench you need a bench and a barbell and you might want to have one of those benches where u can put the bar on a thing:p like bench press:p
barbell and weight plates is all you need to do deadlifts, but you would need quite alot of weight plates. squat might be a bit different, some kind of squat rack as you will need a place to get the weight and to bring it up to when your done. pullups, if you can do them its a great exersice, you just need something you can hang from that supports your body weight. but wait for more replies, as i said, im no expert.

wont i need like a bar with weight plates on each end to do deadlifts or can i just use two barbbells with one barbbell in each hand.
 
oh and also can somebody please provide me with a link that shows you how to do different excercises with weights. i've searched on the internet for a website that has illustrations showing you how to do different excercises with weights but i cant find any good ones.

a barbell is one long bar with weights at either end. i think your thinking of dumbells dude.
 
a barbell is a weight bar ;) one of those long ones u put weights on each side. a small one is a dumbbell, and yes you can do deadlifts with these, but you would need some quite heavy ones.

<- click on the different muscles and u get exersices for it.

that page has alot of exersices
 
well it looks like you can do all the excercises pretty much with a barbell and dumbells and just a bench so i guess thats all i need. what do you guys think?
 
yeah, though i would reccomend going to a gym, but i dont know your reasons for staying home, probobly the gym fee:p

i do my whole body workout with just dumbells...and chinups for my lats...so all you really need is a chinup bar and some dumbells and a weight bench..although me being the poor bastard that i am..i just made a weight bench from some materials i had lying around the house..its kinda dodgy looking but it gets the job done.
 
yeah, though it depends what exersices, i would get a barbell too to do bench, deadlifts and squats, spechally the two last ones as they are the exersices that use the most muscles

No.

Make certain you have a way to do squats.

Any reason you are not willing to join a gym as opposed to buying equipment. At least until you learn what you need for you.
