Neko-chans Diary

Still have the cold, and was bone tired today too. Luckily I found time to take a nap.

Food Diary, Day 2
Oct 10, 2008

Breakfast:

1 cup of trail mix
5 or 6 large strawberries

Snack:

Handful of Cheez-it Crackers

Lunch:

1 Yakisoba brand Cheese noodle bowl
with
approx. 6 oz of mixed vegetables (edamame, green beans and mushrooms)

Dinner:

Homemade Three Bean Salad (black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, chopped onion, salt, black pepper, rice vinegar and salad oil)
Sweet Chili Chicken (thigh)
Broccoli and Potatoes with a light cheese sauce

Didn't get much in the way of exercise today unfortunately. I'm sure I'll get plenty tomorrow at work moving all those pans around. Got some today playing with the babies, but was more interested in the nap I took after lunch.

WEEKEND CHALLENGE

I will not eat anything at work, only what I bring for the meals I desire to eat.

I plan to try a tofu smoothie for breakfast tomorrow. I'll put strawberries and banana and pineapple in it.

Ugh. Not so good today. Had a house warming party at my sisters house after work. >.<

Food Diary, Day 3
Oct 11, 2008

5:45am:

1 Mocha coffee
(jump starts me that early in the morning you see.)

Breakfast:

A smoothie consisting of:
1 Banana
1 can pineapple with juice
6-7 strawberries
1/4 block silken tofu

Lunch:

1 Maruchan Alfredo flavor noodle bowl

Snack:

approx. 1/4 cup Yogurt covered raisins

Dinner:

Rigatoni with meat sauce
(had seconds >.<)
3 pieces garlic bread (I dunno how big, about one and ahalf inch strips cuts from a regular loaf of french bread)
2-3 three small squares of focaccia
Green salad with italian dressing (I should have had seconds on that, rather than the pasta. :( )
1 small slice plain cheesecake for dessert
3 little globes of apple juice
1 bottled lemon flavored mineral water
1/4 red wine
A sip of grappa
(I don't usually drink, it was a special occasion. :))

So. Not a perfect day. Got to see the family and take pictures of the relatives. Tomorrows another day. Will have to make a bigger effort to eat more veggies.

Right now, I need to fall on my face. Nighty night everyone. :)

Hey Neko-Chan, good work keeping track of your food intake and trying to adjust your diet properly. It looks like you try to do a lot of things right and then kind of have off meals or days. I used to be the same way and still kind of am (not nearly as much though). I just slowly started removing the bad foods from my diet and integrating good ones, one at a time so it wasn't overwhelming to me.

In any case, good luck with your diet, can't wait to see what sort of progress you make!

Alas, the only objection I have to this forum is that there's so many people posting here that if I miss a few days I have to thread my way to about the fifth page to find my topic.

Anyways.

I missed a few days. >.< Tests and another bout of depression and stress set everything haywire. Again. I wish my emotions were predictable, but instead they bounce around, much like my eating habits. :(

I do have an interesting experience to tell about though.

Does anyone here take wheat grass juice in the morning? Where I work, we have it, and a lot of the employees like to get it. The guy in produce was telling me about it, because I was a bit skeptical. I said "What has it done for you?"

He described how his energy levels were raised, the nutritional value of it, how one shot of juice is equal to two pounds of organic fresh vegetables, with all the vitamin and mineral content of the two pounds of veggies, how the composition was almost like that of blood which allowed easy absorption. He even said you get slightly wired feeling after taking it.

Anyway, the things that caught my attention were "raised energy levels" and "high nutrient content", as I have a problem with both (low to no energy for anything, and not a very good vitamin/mineral intake, though I do try.)

So I got myself a one ounce shot of wheat grass and three orange slices, since those we provide for those who take the wheat grass. I was a little strange about it for a moment, because I had to get over the whole "This is liquefied grass I'm drinking, this is weird." So, I pinched my nose and did a bottoms up on it, swallowed it as quickly as I could, waited for the horrible taste...

...there wasn't a horrible taste. How can this be? This is grass juice I just drank here! Grass smells kinda nasty, surely it can't taste all that great.

I unplug my noise in some disbelief and was surprised to find that the wheat grass was kinda sweet tasting, like carrot juice, only green. It still had a grassy taste sure, but wasn't nearly as horrible as I thought it would be (I can't stand the smell, it's nasty). And it was a little warm too, so it was almost soothing going down.

After the orange slices, I couldn't even taste it.

I had more energy that day then I'd had in a very, very long time. I was so energetic I didn't even think about sleeping till about midnight last night. I was wide awake.

Has anyone else experienced that with wheat grass...?
