Need to get rid of belly fat.

Hi, i'm a 15 year old teenager and i weigh about 145 lbs at a height of 5 ft 3 in., and i'm trying to become a lot more active and generally fit. my main problem and concern is my belly, i'm not trying to get ripped or anything i just really want this gone. is there any advice and exercises that would help me get rid of this? A little side note eat fairly healthy, salads and apples but i drink a lot of lemonade which i'm trying to cut back on.

Receiving free from belly fat and getting a strong six pack abs is not as hard as many make it. Some plain dietary changes and normal exercise can put you well on the track to reducing your belly fat.

Hi Collie650. It's good to pay attention to belly fat - generally having belly fat means you have more internal fat (visceral fat) which can lead to major health complications. You're young, so it's great that you're ready to kick this thing! Establishing good habits now will make a huge difference in the future.

To start with, being consistently active is important. Develop some kind of fitness routine and stick to it for 30 minutes a day at least 3 days a week. You may want to do more than that.

Reducing your calorie intake is another. Not overeating will help your overall efforts (and if you eat too much fat/sugar you'll be back to square one!). Good for you to monitor that sugary lemonade. One good suggestion is to add more fiber into your diet - examples are spinach, apples, corn, beans, avocado, brown rice, and whole wheat bread.

Don't forget to sleep enough, too! It's counter-intuitive, but getting enough sleep will help your weight loss efforts. If you're sleep-deprived, you're more likely to overeat the bad stuff.

Most importantly, keep that determination up! And let someone else know you're trying to lose belly fat so they can check in on your progress (and so you're more likely to keep up your mission!).

Firstly lets like at your positives. Your young and likely to have high metabolism. You have also deemed that you have a challenge and you want to resolve it - even to the point of reaching out to a forum. You are eating pretty well - not perfect (and who can really judge these days) and have also appreciated that you have too much lemonade.

When you think about it YOU have made a great start - great!

Try and cut down on the lemonade or diet lemonade or even better water. Also water will help you fill up and you will be less hungry

In terms of exercises I have found the best method is swimming - it hits the whole of your body and I have lost 5 inches off my waistline with diet and swimming.

However I think the BEST advise I can give you when it comes to exercise is that you need to go for FLAT OUT short burst of energy. Don't go for a long jog - go for short fast sprints. For swimming I go for the fastest lenght and rest. I don't do so many lenghts but boy I have lost the fat that way

Best of luck and let us know how you get on

Just clean up your diet and get active.

You will spend the majority of your time outside the gym and this is where small changes can make a big difference. Use the stairs not the lift, walk to school, walk to the shops, go out for a walk at lunch break etc etc. At weekends get yourself outide, go for a walk or a bike ride instead of watch tv.

Food wise reduce or even eliminate all processed foods. In general the less ingredients something has the better it is for you, an apple has one ingredient, an apple! Coke has loads of ingredients so which is better for you?
