I've been trying to lose weight for the past 6 weeks but its coming off so slow. I've lost weight before and it came off a lot quicker last time and I was doing the same thing if not less exercise last time.

Breakfast consists of 40g of Special K with skim milk and a banana, lunch is 50g pasta with 50g chicken and plain chopped tomatoes, dinner is normally plain fish with mixed veg. If I snack it's on 30 calorie ice lolly or 40 calorie hot chocolate.

I am doing at least 30 mins exercise DVD or running or swimming everyday but this week I have only lost a pound, I'm sticking with it even though its slow but I need some tips as I was aiming to lose at least 2 pounds a week.

I'm 5 foot 8 and weigh 221 pounds if that helps?

I just need some advice on where I'm going wrong!

Bex, you really want to aim to lose about 1 to 2 lbs a week for healthy weight loss. If you lose more than 5 lbs in a week, you're not eating enough calories. Weight loss (after the first few weeks) is a slow process. Rushing weight-loss by starving yourself or "over-exercising," yourself isn't wise in the long run. One time I ate under 900 calories a day, lost about 5lbs a week. As soon as I started eating more than 900 calories I gained all the weight I lost back. I know it seems like your goal is so far away, but you really gotta focus on day-to-day goals.

Hope that helped. :)

1lb is fine! Like what Fox said, losing 1-2 lbs a week is healthy and OPTIMAL for permanent weight loss. I recommend measuring yourself too.

Also, I find that implementing activity in your daily life, along with exercise, is great for losing weight. Chores and cleaning is what I do.

Hi, thanks for replying, I think I'm getting so hung up on the numbers because I have a holiday coming up on September, but I know that this change has got to be for life so I can't rush it. Today has been weigh day and although I've only lost a pound and an inche of my waist, them pounds and inches will add up in the long term. Regardless of whether I hit my mini target (190lbs) by September, if I keep going I'm still gonna be a damn sight better, fitter, and healthier by then! thanks for the motivation, i needed it!
