need some help

hello , im new to this forum and I just registred to ask this question : how do
I get strong but not so big muscles?

I lift weights reguraly and I begin with some light warm up then do the regular weights and i strech when im done , but I seem to get big muscles that I dont want and my armstrenght havent improved much, I can now lift heavier weights and for alot longer time but my friend can do it also and alot heavier weights but he got a lot smaller muscles than me ( he is Asian if that makes any diffrence xD). just wanted to know what to do ; maybe move on to heavier weights , strech more, eat less carbs im really new to training and im a male so I got big muscles fairly fast ( aprox. 1 month of training) but I would rather have smaller muscles but still have the same strenght or even stronger than im today...

im from sweden so my english might be a little sloppy.
