Need advice: Weird Question

Hey everyone,

Just a quick background. Im an atheletic guy, 6'1 155lbs, I try to run 3+ miles a day and I go the gym at least 3 times a week. Im a skinny guy, but Im soft. Its weird, I seem to have alot of extra skin, I can stretch it haha. I have very elastic skin.

I havent gone through a period where Ive lost a lot of weight. And I do try to watch what I eat. Even when I lift weights, my arms get toned to an extent, but are still rather soft.

I dont neccessarily know how to word this haha. So basically Im looking for advice. Is this skin or is this fat? Is there anything I can do? Specific routines aimed at trouble spots? Increased cardio/fat burning?

Thanks for the input to this weird question.

Actually decrease cardio to a crawl OR eat enough surplus of food you dont have to worry too much about it. Too much cardio will eat through muscle.

Perhaps you can increase the quality of your muscle "cross section". In order for this to happen you need to lift big (correctly).

Watch how you are eating....here is a link that may help

Few options... you probably need to focus on strength training more and less cardio. You probably also need to increase your calories and protein.

Post more specific info (detailed exercise program and menu and goals).

well my workout plan is basically upper body focused

chest press
chest machines
free weights
pull ups
sit ups
etc

If there is a machine that focuses on the upper body Ill do 4 sets of 12 reps. Free weights, Ill do less. I didnt get into it too detailed because I dont know the names of the machines by heart.

For cardio, I do 3+miles at least 5 days a week. Ill ride my bike as well too.

My diet has alot of chicken. Grilled of course. Garlic bread and pasta for carbs. Ill drink alot of vitamin water and take multi-vitamins as well. I dont drink soda and I cut back on candy, but I have a sweet tooth.

Well thats your problem.

You have 8 huge muscle groups in your legs and your not even using them.
Calfs, hams, quads and gluets.
If you start working out your legs you'll be burning a hell of a lot more calories. Your metabolizm will speed up.

You say you take a lot of vitamins. Why is this? cant you get your vitamins from fruit and vegg?

Do you do any work on your shoulders, traps or lats?
I think you need to do a bit of research into how the body works and you'll be able to answer all these questions yourself.

I agree that you need to have a better strength training routine in place. My other piece of advice remains the same... you are doing a lot of cardio and I wonder if you're not taking in enough calories.

If you want to firm up, then you'll want to increase your lean muscle. I'd take a hard look at your daily caloric intake first. Then get on board with a full body strength routine and then adjust the cardio based on your goals.

1. ditch machines almost completely. free weights are god.
2. eat more.
3. 155lbs at 6'1" is underweight. your body expects more lean muscle mass, and you have the extra skin to prove it.
4. fix the diet.
5. work the legs with heavy weight!
