need abit of help please

first off all i have to say my strenght has improved allloooot in like 2 weeks. first i could barely do 3 sets of 20kg 10 times barbell curls, now today i did 5 sets but i had enough energy to do 3 more easily with the same weight and everything, i felt the same experience with all my exercises.

however, ive been having this very slight pain in my neck, i cant tell if its a trapped never or its in the muscle from working out, but i can only feel it when i move my neck around.

should i stop working out ?
im powerlifting for size and strenght which means it can be from lifting heavy weights so should i begin my ripping phase for like 2 months or so then go back to powerlifting?

and suggestions will be appreciated thanks!

I think I know what you are talking about i had this problem too. What i did is before i started lifting i did some neck rotations and tried to relax my neck. When you start lifting then try to relax your body and focus on using the muscles required for the excercise rather than gritting your teeth and flexing your entire body. That takes some practice. If you finish and it still hurts soak a wash cloth in warm water and wrap it around your neck. Finish with some neck rotations and you should be ok. Your neck may also just need to get stronger as most people complain of sore necks during their early periods of heavy weight training. Hope that helped!

hey thanks evolution, i think my neck is just too weak and ive noticed that ive been gritting my teeth especially when doing bicep curls, and i flex my whole body.

if it was a pinched nerve wouldnt it hurt all the time, cause the pain i get is after i warm up, stretch or when i start lifting, no other time before it.

and the reason i dont wanna go to the doc is because i have to take my parents with me im underage to go by myself (16 yrs old) and my parents will ask why i want to go there. if i tell them i think ive pinched a nerve the first thing they will do before going to the doctors is give me a lecture and chuck my weights away :(

the other thing ifound is that on last friday i went to the gym and asked one of the trainers there how to perform preacher curls correctly. and he told me that u have to bend ur back whilst picking up the weights off the rack on to the elbow rest, and u can keep ur back bent whilst doing it.

is this the correct way, on the internet it said never pick up the weights by urself, ask someone to place them onto ur hands for u , also keep ur back STRAIGHT.

im confused, i dont know which one to go with :(

can someone clear this up for me thanks
