Need a excersice for mid and lower abs

after doing situps i have notice my upper stomach stronger but im still having trouble with my mid and lower abs. My workout includes usually doing 500 situps and 5:00 minutes worth of planks. If anyone knows any good exercise for the mid and lower abs please post here, thanks
 
You cannot seperate the upper and lower abs, only utilize different motor patterns of recruitment. Do you mean that the "upper ab" movements are becoming easier, or that you can see your upper ab development? The first would mean that you are accomodating to the exercise (500 situps is rediculous and useless, btw. Use external weight, and find more effective and functional movements), while the second is a function of bodyfat, period.
 
try putting your legs up on a couch keeping your back on the floor. Do crunches that way. It will make your lower abs burn. Also do side planks.
You said you do planks but didn't specify.
 
how about ugh i cant remeber what its called but u strap ur arms in it and pull urself up using ur abs like brings ur knees to ur chest, they had it up at the gym i go to, it burns my lower abs but i didnt do it all that much to see results, i just run it makes mine show up by just running

also try some resistant training. working your core is just like working any other muscle group. don't do sets of 50 just grab dumb bells (depends on what you can handle) and do some sit ups 3x10. thats one of many also ankle weighted leg raises will hit your mid and lower abs. good luck
