Neck and Shoulder Pain

I do some lifting (both standing and laying) and it seems to have caused a problem in my left shoulder. It started aching considerably and feeling a little stiff. The pain stated at the bottom of my shoulder blade and ran across my shoulder, up my neck and into the back of my head.

I am not sure if this is caused by technique as it is only on my left side, although I am not willing to rule this out. Firstly, are there any technique tips?

I stopped for about a week and it went away but has started to come back as soon as I started again. Could it be the this side was injured sometime and is weak? I am left handed and did play quite a bit of cricket in the summer as a bowler if that may have pulled it. Are there any exercises I can do to strengthen the area?

Your best bet there really would be to get a professional to look over your form first off. A few sessions with a trainer will at least let you know what proper form is like.

If the pains persist you may need a doctor who may recommend a few visits with a physiotherapist
