Nahasch'iid Journal

Today is my first day. I had a Bacon cheeseburger for lunch and a small chocolate shake. Which is better than what I normally get (two cheeseburgers, fries, and a LARGE chocolate shake). No fries.

Will look into getting premade dinners to heat up - be much easer and I don't have to calculate carbs and calories.

Will incorporate much more vegetables and fruits into my food intake. I know it's not a good start but it's better than not starting at all. :D

I'm so happy you started a journal! Welcome to the journaling community!

As far as vegetables go, green giant makes veggie steamers. You can find them in the frozen food section, but they are WONDERFUL. Depending on the vegetable each bag contains about 3 servings of veggies and usually around 300 calories per bag, or less (of course, depending on the vegetable).

I love the broccoli and cheese steamers! They are so yummy and make a really good meal if you chop up a chick breast and mix it in there! It's a delicious nutritious meal that won't break the calorie bank!

Start eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, and cut out the milk shakes and soda pop!

If you drink at least 10 cups (5 half liter bottles) of water per day, you won't feel the need for those drinks full of empty calories! If what you are eating doesn't have any nutritional value, don't eat/drink it!

Thanks Kimmy - I'm so glad I found this site -

had 1 20 oz diet Dr. Pepper. and 1 20 oz. Key Lime sparkling water "beverage."

Will switch to water exclusively within the next couple of days. I need to wean myself off the soda. I usually only drink one or two per day but my sparkling water is out of control. I usually drink 5-6 of those per day.

A little depressed today. Dealing with way too much and not having enough time to do things is wearing me down.

Started parking further away from the building at work to help increase my stamina for walking. The pain was pretty bad. I'll just have to work through it.

Ohh another thing that I have found helpful is if you are eating premade dinners heat it up and put it on a plate and have a side salad with it.. Makes it look like you are getting way more :) I never feel hungry whn I do that.

Great advice. I love a good salad. I have several kinds of low cal - low fat salad spritzers that are so much better than regular salad dressings. :)

Ohhh! I've been dying to try those spritzers! I don't eat much salad dressing at all, so I'm waiting for my current bottle to run out before I buy more so it doesn't go to waste.

You're doing great trying to ween yourself off the soft drinks! When I'm dying for a milk shake or ice cream, I usually go for a jr frosty at Wendys! At only 160 calories, it's not that bad....you learn to savor it because it's so small, but it's definitely better than that small shake you're getting! There's no need to deprive yourself of everything you love, just use much smaller portions!

I love them! My favorite is balsamic vinegar closely followed by Asian Silk. I haven't found one yet that I haven't liked. I cut way back on my sugar intake when I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes a year ago. I got my sugar under control in less than three weeks. I also lost some poundage. :p

calorie count for 4/14

Breakfast - small bag of cashews 160 calories, beef and cheese stick 210 calories. total for breakfast = 370

Lunch - 6 oz ham 302 calories, 2 eggs 154 calories, 2 cups milk 200 calories, 2 pieces toast 140 calories = 796

total calories so far: 1,166

Don't panic people. :p I'm just getting an idea on counting calories. It's not something I've done in the past. Now I have a better understanding of what I'm putting in my body. I'm going to have a huge salad for supper and that should suffice for today.

note to self: next time cut out the toast and the milk. Cut back on the ham and one egg. Now I have a better idea what to expect calorie wise throughout the day. Sort of.

Comparing to previous meals - It WOULD have been 8 oz of FRIED ham and 2-3 eggs with 4-6 pieces of toast and a 32 oz glass of milk (possibly two). I would have been over 3,000 calories by lunch. Ack! :O

Supper - 1 cup homemade salsa 20 calories, 1 serving fritos 160 calories, 1 cup milk 100 calories = 280 which brings my daily intake to the total for the day of 1,446 - not bad for my first day. :)

possible trigger: please don't read if you're not in a good place. I'm venting. Sorry :(

Emotional state - worried, angry, sad, mom fell and wrenched her shoulder. It may have torn her pace-maker loose and the hospice nurses are discussing it with the doctors as I type this. I'm sad the she has to have more pain on top of what she has with her illness. I'm angry that I can't be there to take care of her and I have to work. I'm sad that she has to suffer so very much. I'm trying to avoid getting into a funk and eating myself into a stupor. Grrr!!!!

Emotional State this evening - worried but o.k.. We have a doctor's appt. for tomorrow and the docs said they don't think she ripped loose her pace maker. *keeping fingers crossed*

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother! I hope that everything is okay!

You are doing great with the calorie counting! If you ever need any help, just let me know YOU DID AWESOME YOUR FIRST DAY!

I'm proud of you, keep it up!

Your bet with your co-worker is really cute! You'll lose that 100 pounds in no time!

One thing I've learned is that egg yolks are very high in cholesterol and it's not good to have more than 3 in a week! I just wanted to give you the heads up, since it helps you stay healthier.

No problems there. I eat eat eggs maybe once or twice a year. There is only two ways I can eat eggs and that's either with ham or home cooked chili rojo. I make a two stack enchilada and then put an egg on top. Just one. Other than that, I avoid eggs like the plague. :p

Hah, okay that's good!

I don't eat meat, so I had been turning to eggs because they are high in protein. For about two weeks I was eating 2-3 eggs per day (whole eggs, including the yolk) and someone on here advised me on how high in cholesterol they are so now I avoid the yolks completely. I looove my eggs though :)

I lived there four years. I resided in Provo and worked in SLC. Now I'm back home. I will never leave again. I love it too much here.
