My workouts

First, a little background. My ideal weight is around 140 lbs .. I was an athlete when I was younger, and I've always had some natural muscle. Now in my 30's, I had two children in a matter of two years and packed on a terrible amount of weight. Then, I sat around and did nothing about it for 3 years. I was so depressed and could not get my butt in gear.

I'm not sure what got me going, but I started at the gym 3 months ago. When I joined I was 190 lbs. at 5'5". Since then I have lost 20 lbs. I am still a plump 170 lbs. I am feeling SO much better though, and I do NOT intend to stop, even after I hit my ideal weight again, because I love how I feel after a good workout.

I go to the gym 5 days a week and I will post my workouts here to keep me motivated. I've also started training to run my first 5k.

Monday 7/27

20 minutes on the elliptical

On the machines:
2 sets 10 chest press (50 lbs)
2 sets 10 shoulder press (50 lbs)
2 sets 10 ab machine (65 lbs)
2 sets 10 pec dec (65 lbs)
2 sets 10 vertical knee raises
2 sets 10 biceps (40 lbs)

on the track (twelve laps is 1 mile)
walk one
run three
(repeated 3 times)

wow! 12 laps for a mile. It must be one of those upstairs around the room tracks? those are pretty cool, as long as there arent oo many people on at once.

actually 12 is a pretty small circle??? are you sure about it bein a 12th of a mile around?

Yep it's around the top of the gym .. there aren't too many people on it at all. I love my gym, it is top of the line and it is never packed. I asked the trainer and he told me 12 laps. Wow can you imagine if I've been running a mile and a half instead of 3/4? lol I doubt it though.

LOL I know! Well on Saturday I ran around the neighborhood so that was a nice change. I just have to get it in during the day and while my kids are in the gym daycare .. I am usually low on energy in the evening once hubby is home from work.

Tuesday 7/28

30 minutes elliptical

machines:
2x10 lat pull downs, 75 lbs
2x10 rows, 75 lbs
2x10 lower back, 100 lbs
2x10 triceps, 40 lbs

4 miles at 16 mph on the bike at level 10

Wednesday 7/29

2x10 chest press, 50 lbs
2x10 shoulder press, 50 lbs
2x10 ab machine, 65 lbs
2x10 biceps, 40 lbs
2x10 pec dec, 65 lbs

(woops I forgot knee raises)

Then I did my running,

1 lap walk
3 laps running
Repeat 3 times to total 1 mile

Then my knee was hurting, I tried to do the elliptical at the end but could only get 15 minutes. I didn't push it, I came home and iced it.

So we shall see what tomorrow brings as far as the knee. I posted a thread in the injury section for advice about that. :)

For the first time in a week I put in some time on the elliptical .. got my endorphin high .. ahhhhh, all is right in my little world! :luxlove:

I haven't gotten the okay to start running again .. my knee is starting to feel better though .. had an MRI Friday and will see the orthopedist again tomorrow (Wed) so hopefully it's fine.

I've been doing the same stuff 4 or 5 days a week..

1/2 hour on the elliptical then alternating muscle groups each day .. pretty much feeling great still. People have noticed my biceps getting more pronounced ... sweet! lol

I had a big hot fudge sundae today. LOL! It's the first bad thing I've done in a while and I'll hope right back on my routine .. but I have a head cold and was feeling like crap .. and it made me feel better. heeee!

I upped all my weights for chest, biceps, shoulders, and abs yesterday. OI am I sore! I love it though! :)

Gonna make today a rest day and then tomorrow will do the same for back and triceps

i am using this as an excuse to have a fudge sunday tonight! if she can do it, so can I.

and it's yer fault!

Did you enjoy your sundae? :p

So I've been doing the same thing all the time, I increased all my weights. I need something different to mix it up I think. Maybe a Zumba class a few times instead of my regular workout. Whatcha think?
