My weight loss journey - lose 50 pounds by the end of 2011 (hopefully)

Hi everyone, im going to use this as my online diary, sort of for a bit of self motivation and also to show people that it can be done.

Im 29, 5ft3 and weigh 165 pounds, it hurts me to write that, in my early 20's i was slim and curvy and like most women, as we get older, we get more lazy, jobs get in the way of a healthy lifestyle etc and i quickly gained the weight :(

Im starting my new healthy lifestyle today and will keep this diary updated every week with my weight and how im feeling and also any tips, recipes ive discovered while searching around.

My friend is very much into fitness so im lucky to have someone who can provide me with so much valuable information. Im very confident at the moment and ready to ddo whatever needs to be done.

My goal is to get to 115 pounds by 2012 :)

Do you have any strategies in mind to help you lose weight?

Luckily i have a friend who is very into keeping fit so he will be my personal trainer, so to speak, to make sure i stay on track.

Most of my meals will be leans sources of protein and vegetables, i will make sure i include vegatables that have a high thermic effect.

I will be limiting my fruit intake to 1 portion per day because i want to try and cut out most sugars, i will stick to vegatables for my sources of vitamins and minerals.

I will only be eating carbs when i know i will be active in the next following hours, so mostly in the morning.

As far as food i will eat, my friend has made a list and its looking something like this -

Sources of lean protein
Chicken, turkey, fish, lamb, pork, beef and eggs

Sources of good carbs
Sweet potato, squash, vegetables, plantain, yam, parsnips, chickpeas, lentils and beans

Sources of good fat
Fish, avocado, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, almond nuts

5-6 small meals per day to keep my metabolism high. i will also be drinking green tea throughout the day (which is probably the only healthy thing i did before going on the diet)

Exercise - (low intensity) walking to and from work everyday

HIIT workout 3 times per week to start off with.

I will allow myself 1 cheat meal every 2 weeks, it can be whatever i want.

im aiming to lose 2 pounds per week, wish me luck

Welcome to the forum, you are lucky having a friend to give you motivational support. Don't worry if you do not always 2lb, when you get closer to your goal the losing will probably be nearer to a 1lb a week.

I am also 5ft 3 and aiming to be 126 pounds (9 stone), I looked up what 115 pounds was and it is a tiny 8 stone 2lb :eek: - is that the lowest weight for our height.... I think I weighed that when I was 15 :cry:
