I am starting a new program to reach my weight loss goals. I thought it would help if I wrote about my progress. I am hoping to lose 40-45 lbs by eating right and exercising. I am going to post my progress throughout this process. I have tried to lose weight before and I think that if I have to write and read about my efforts it may help me through the harder times of dieting. Wish me luck!!!

Hi there! Welcome to the forum :) I to would love to loose 40 pounds, I currently weigh 160 and would love to get down to 120. I know what you mean about the harder times of dieting, when I get those urges to binge on stuff I know I shouldn't be having it's hard to control those urges, which is why I like posting here alot, because I'm held accountable for my actions, and thats what I desperately need right now. Good luck throughout your journey :)

Welcome! I just signed up a few days ago but I have been on my "new plan" for the past few months...Accountability is the #1 reason people fail or don't fail in my opinion... Good luck! Check out my thread if you get a minute.

:waving: Hi Virgo, and welcome! You stand a much better chance of success if you have a plan for how to lose the weight. Then just stick with it, day by day, and voila! The weight should come off. I had to cut my portion sizes and cut down on the amount of "junk" I eat, plus get serious about exercising every single day. It has worked for me, and I am closing in on 50 lbs gone.

Best wishes on your journey!

Thank you for all your support. I have been around dieters all my life as my mom has had this struggle throughout her life. She is doing great with her diet and is an inspriation to me. She is now at her lowest weight since I was three and I am 28. I too am 160 lbs and want to get to 125 -130 lbs. I was doing great all week staying strong and exercising regularly, but I fell off the wagon yesterday as I had pizza, which would have been ok, but then I had another slice and chicken wings and cheesy bread. Let me tell you....it was not worth it so if you are tempted just remember you will gain more by saying no. But, I am back to my program and the regular routine. The way I look at this diet is I am becoming healthy, I feel better already, and I have to eat so why not eat right and get some benefit out of it. This is my lifesytle not a diet. Anyway, tomorrow is the big weigh in date, I hope my little slip did not do to much in my progress.

I have lost 3 lbs since last week and my BMI is at 33 instead of 34. When a person gets results like this it keeps you motivated to keep this lifestyle; however, when I hit those plateaus...that is when I have to stay strong and remind myself that it is not all about losing weight but feeling great!!!

Well done - look how close you're getting to be out of obese and just into overweight :)

that's a big accomplishment

BMI - < 29.9 puts you into overweightness :)

I had a good week; however, yesterday night I cheated on my program a bit around supper time. So, this means I need to get back on track and exercise harder this week. That is what I am doing...I am back on track!!! I don't feel as hungry anymore and I eat a lot less than before. I have made the goal last week to eat slower and that seemed to work on my portions. I felt full faster as my stomach had time to communicate to my brain before I stuffed myself. Anyway, the big weigh in day....I am now 156.8 lbs and 32 BMI!!! Yahh!!! My goal this week is to continue to eat slower, lose 2 more pounds, and keep my exercise routine. See you next week-which will be week four of my diet.

Hi virgo, congratulations on your weight loss. Going from a BMI of 34 to 32 is a big deal! I think I'm going to steal your idea of eating slower. I shovel food into my mouth so fast when I eat, that's probably why I eat too much. Anyway, good luck on your weight loss.
