Yeh, the soup is tasty but the cans are like half the size of normal ones!! Not very filling I find.

Lol believe me I struggle not to snack... but like my brekkie and lunch were small but I allowed myself a bigger portion at dinner to avoid snacking between dinner and bed. Better to be full up with veg than eat a little portion of that and later start looking for snacks, I figure.

Anyway... this is going to be MY WEEK. Let's see if I can keep up the effort. :) x

I love love love soup! I'm not a big fan of canned soup period it just has a fake type of taste to it. Good for a quick meal though. I like making my own, but it doesn't happen too often as that takes effort... LOL. I did buy some butternut squash so I could make this one soup I love oh so very much! Was supposed to do that either yesterday or today and it hasn't happened yet, lol.

Hey Risty,

Yeh home made is the best :) I love having the soup when I eat out at a cafe or restaurant. With crusty bread and real butter is the best combination!! :D *dribbles* I make a mean pea soup but that's about the only one I have the time for at the mo - it's such a simple reciple and so tasty so I dont mind eating it quite often. x

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: 2 weetabix with skimmed milk

LUNCH: mushroom couscous, small tub of grapes and 1x banana

DINNER: Dinner was weird today! Sort of two mini-meals in the evening. I basically ate up all the leftovers in the kitchen- some cabbage and potato, and also a small amount of pasta with sauce! (lol they wouldnt have gone together well.)

SNACKS: Small Nougat bar (170cals, 1.5g fat)

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash

It sounds like you are happy with the changes you are making to your diet. It also sounds like you are happy..period. That's great to hear and to see your progress is definately a driver for others like me.

Love couscous, though I love it dripping in olive oil! :)
Glad to see you're doing so well and you're really motivated. Great eating today! Way to go!!

Hi Tutti
Was just glancing through your diary. Are you still on track for your mini goal of losing 14lb by Valentine's? It's great to set milestones along the way as weight loss can be a looong journey.

I make a mean pea soup but that's about the only one I have the time for at the mo - it's such a simple reciple and so tasty so I dont mind eating it quite often.

I want to incorporate more vegetables in my diet. Right now there are...none. I don't think I've eaten a vegetable in 2 weeks, in part because the only one int eh house is frozen spinach. In part because I haven't learned how to make really good puree or soup. I was hoping you could share your pea soup recipe?

Hi all,

Thanks for the nice messages :) always helps to log on and see some encouragement!!

bellyoff, I have not done as well as I'd hoped I would as last week I somehow ended up gaining 1.5 lbs!! I don't think I'll hit the 14lbs mark by vals day now, as that would mean losing another 6lbs in a week and a half and I'm not losing quite that fast... however the 19th is a big date for me as I'm having a bit of a celebratory night out for my birthday, so I'm hoping to have lost the stone by then!! (And look a bit nicer in that dress!) :) So still motivated and I think I'm doing ok so I wont be too worried not to quite have hit my original deadline.

The pea soup is soooo easy... I get a few veg stock cubes (which I'd never used before!! Lol!!) and dissolve them into a pan of boiling water. I stick in some chopped onions and potatoes (u can use any ammount, but the more potato that goes in the thicker it will be) and also a bit of garlic. Then just a large amount of peas! (I'm lazy so I just get a frozen bag, medium size, and pour about 3/4 of them in.) Boil it all up til the potatoes are soft and the peas/onions are cooked, then blend it. I'm no superchef but mine came out lovely first time I tried it, so I don't think you can go too far wrong. :) The exact ammounts also dont matter but I tend to use 3 stock cubes and about 2 litres of water. Give it a go!

As for the veg, that is one thing that ISN'T a chore when trying to lose weight... I love veg and eat lots anyway. If it's keeping stocked up and preparing them that puts you off, get some frozen stuff - I am always using bags of frozen brocilli etc. Or things like leeks are easy to prepare. I have my veg with some gravy (not made up too thickly, to avoid too many cals) and sometimes also some stuffing, as I was thrilled to find that it's quite diet-friendly.

I realised I didn't log on yesterday so here's what I ate...

Yesterday's Menu:

BREAKFAST: Very small bowl of wheat shreddies with skimmed milk

LUNCH: Veg rice sachet (low cals and fat) a small tub of grapes and 1x apple

DINNER: 3 slices ham (32cals, 0.8g fat) some grilled potato slices (yummy!) and some peppers and mushrooms in a low-fat sauce.

SNACKS: small ammount of leftover potato and 1x Special K bar.

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash, and water.

I weighed in today at 188.0lbs :hurray: so down 1.2lbs since Saturday, IF the scale is to be believed!! Am taking Risty's advice this week however and not moving my ticker until weigh-in on Sunday, to make sure it's real loss and not just fluctuation. It's helped my motivation to see the numbers moving in the right direction again though!!

Have a great day everyone. x

Today's food started off well, and the meals have been quite good, but I overdid it a bit with snacking!! x

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: 2 Weetabix with skimmed milk

LUNCH: vegetable cous cous, 1x apple and packet of Walkers Baked (98cals, 2.0g fat)

DINNER: same as yesterday basically... grilled potatoes, mushrooms and peppers

SNACKS: small nougat bar, (170cals, 1.6g fat) 1x banana, 2 poppadoms (64cals, trace fat) and choc mousse.

DRINKS: low-sugar squash and pepsi max

Without frozen food I would not know what to do, honestly last saturday when I did my weekly shopping I bought probably 70% frozen veg and 30% everything else.
The fresh stuff rots so quickly, I packed a cucumber and some carrots for a snack, but never felt like that snack, so it stayed in my bag for 2 days and already the cucumber has rotten. Ew!

1.2 pounds is awesome! I also kind of peaked at the scales and it looks ok, but I can't tell yet... I was hoping for a 2 pound week, but I am not sure that will happen. You are also an inspiration you know, you always seem so levelheaded and your weeks chug along with losses all the time, great job, girly!
Have a great thursday, Camy

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: 1x banana

LUNCH: Small jacket potato with small tub of stuff from the salad/pasta bar. (Wasn't expecting to be out for lunch so had not packed anything and had to work with what was available at the canteen!)

DINNER: Pasta n Sauce (444cals, 6.0g fat)

SNACKS: Small tub of grapes, 1 weightwatchers treat bar (86 cals, 2.0g fat) and a lettuce and salad cream sandwich (2 slices brown bread = 156cals and 2.2g fat but I'm unsure of the total for the lettuce and light salad cream)

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash, flavoured water (99cals) and pineapple juice (200mls = 95 cals)

I've had a lot of snacks the last couple of days really, but I've managed to keep the meal portions small and avoid anything too naughty.

Worked hard at step aerobics tonight :) so feeling good about today's progress!!

As always, thanks for the support ladies. I'm happy with what I've lost but I was hoping to have lost a little more by now. I'm not quite hitting the 2lb a week I was hoping for, mainly due to the set-back last week. But hey, slow and steady wins the race...

xx

They say to aim for 1% every week, so at 189 you should aim for 1.89 pounds a week. I hated that stat because at 140 I am supposed to lose under a pound and a half a week... but it is really hard to lose more than 2 pounds when you are not THAT big to start with. So don't get sad, slow and steady wins the race! Plus it just means we are closer to goal!

You seem to have a hard time with drinking water (or do you just not write it down?). Get thirsty enough and you will be delighted by the taste of water! I cannot wait to drink it after my classes even though sometimes I get bored of it. I barely ever drink anything else though and now it is just natural and normal.

Have a great weekend, Camy

Hey Camy,

Nah I am just awful at drinking water!! I find it a real stuggle. I can make myself drink some, but with like a 500ml bottle I really have to force it down by the end. I dont know what it is, but I just seem to gag on water after more than a few mouthfuls, and end up feeling sick. But I make up my squash really weak - I put just enough in to get the water down my neck!!

Feeling the effects of last night's step class today. :D I worked particularly hard, I must admit, and today I've been sighing in relief every time I sit down!! Can only be a good thing though. :)

Sooo... xx

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: 2 Weetabix with skimmed milk

LUNCH: Vegetable cous cous, 1x banana and 1x Special K Bar

DINNER: Plate of veg with gravy

SNACKS: 1 pot low fat strawberry mousse (85cals, 1.5g fat)

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash, and also an Archers and diet-lemonade (welllll, it is Friday night after all!)

I used to be the same with water. It would make me nauseated and I could hardly drink it. I find though when I exercise my mouth gets dry so I tend to drink a lot of water during exercise. However, when I'm not exercising I don't drink much. I'm better than I used to be, I don't get nauseated anymore but I just don't feel thirsty most of the time so I don't think about drinking it. I also know that I like my water really really cold, so knowing the temp I like it best, makes it easier for me to drink as well!

I think overtime, if you just keep drinking water (like I did) you'll get used to it.

Hi Risty,

Yeh I am the same - when I'm exercising, say during my step class, I could drink water without too much trouble. It's just other times... I will subconsciously avoid drinking it till I'm really thirsty, whereas weak squash I can make a point of drinking plenty. I guess it just seems thats probably the more healthy option... but yes, you're both right, I should be making efforts to drink at least SOME water each day.

Today's been a good food day... quite disciplined I thought. :) Being at work helps as I dont have constant access to food and the time to sit around thinking about eating!! x

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: 2x weetabix with skimmed milk

LUNCH: bowl homemade pea soup with crackers

DINNER: (about 5pm) pasta n sauce (444cals, 6g fat)

SUPPER: (late evening) smaller bowl homemade pea soup and crackers

SNACKS: 1x apple

DRINKS: low-sugar squash

Lol thanks Mandy but things have actually slowed right down so my losses are minimal now... it will take forever to reach my long term goal at this rate!!!!

I weigh in today at 188.6lbs. 0.8lbs down in the last 8 days... so slow!! And I thought I'd been pretty good with my food this week, I really did! I think maybe what's needed is more exercise, and I'd be up for it but I just cannot see how I will fit it in at the moment... I currently work 12 full length days a fortnight, commute, get home and have to go care for two relatives, when I get home from that I have dinner to cook and stuff to get ready for the next day, and I have my housework and also quite a bit of written work (to do with one of my jobs) to get done in some of my "spare time". Just my step class is hard enough to get to. Sigh. After next week though I'll not be caring for my relatives so maybe then I'll be able to fit some more classes in. I'm just sooo tired all the time at the moment - life is bulging at the seams already. :nopity: But can't be making excuses for myself I guess...! Like I say, I hope to be able to fit in at least another class soon. So watch this space.

Anyway I guess 0.8lbs is still a loss. I'd like to say I'll lose again this week but come Friday I am going out for celebratory meals three nights in a row, so I'll probably see the numbers going UP. :banghead:

Lol a bit of a negative post really... but at the end of the day, I am losing. Just slowly. Will just have to tweak things to see how I can speed it up, I guess.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone, I'm off to work so should be able to keep my intake low! Will post my day's food tonight. :) xx
