My Summer Goal - Before and In Between Pics (After pics to follow!)

Hey all,

So, here's a little bit about me. I'm 19 years old and as you can see not a very good looking guy. It's time to shape up for me, so here are my beginning stats:

Height: 6"
Weight: 200 lbs

I started my journey on Monday, June 21st, changing my diet entirely (ie. fruit or some nuts for snack instead of crackers and chips and having a nice salad and sandwich (whole wheat!) instead of a burger and fries for lunch)

I also started doing 40mins of interval (speed and incline) cardio a day on treadmill, as well as 45mins-1hour of muscular (weights, pushups, crunches, dips) every second day.

My goal is in exactly two months (August 21st) to be:

Weight: 165-175lbs
Toned arms and a tighter chest
And maybe some abs to show off? (I hope... )

Anyways, what do you all think? Is my goal attainable based on what I'm doing? Any tips, hints, words of encouragement?

Okay, so now as promised I have put up my pics and weight for the "in between" stage of my summer goal. I need a little encouragement... so what do you all think of my progress? I don't really see too much progress in 1 month... but then again I don't exactly view myself in a positive way.

Before Pics:
June 21: 200 lbs

In Between Pics:
July 21: 192lbs

After Pics:
August 21: 187lbs

In conclusion, I still have a lot of work to do before I am able to reach my goal. It's too bad that I couldn't achieve it this summer, although looking back, it may have been a tad unreasonable. Anyways, I leave it to you all to comment on the before and after of my journey, as well as to inspire me to press onwards. I really hope to achieve this goal eventually and look killer in the process. I will continue to update every few weeks or so on my progress, as I plan on ramping up my workouts again, once I settle into school.

Thanks!

You are definitely on the right path. A key thing to remember is that if you do have a day where you happen to eat the wrong foods, and/or not workout, DO NOT give up. Just think to yourself that you feel off, and need to get right back on it.

This is a lifestyle change for you. From what you said nothing you said is overdramatic which is good. The main focus you should have is increasing your level of activity (which you are doing!) and also eating healthier (which you are doing!). With that, you will loose weight and become a healthier individual.

Good luck!

I think your goal is a little optimistic, but it doesn't hurt to strive for greatness. It might be the motivation you need to get really serious about this. I think your body fat is a little bit more then you're estimating, try to get a test done to determine your exact body fat so you know how much protein you need each day to preserve the muscle you have and then just lift heavy 3 days a week and do cardio 2-3 days a week. (walking, jogging, running, HIIT, w/e you prefer)

You don't look too far off from a good body. There looks to be some decent muscle mass under the fat. Set your goal for either October or November!

Thanks! Yeah, the body fat part was total estimation based on certain body measurement ratios, height and weight. Not sure how accurate it is, but I figure as long as I'm doing my daily cardio routine (interval running) and keeping up my muscular activity up every 2nd day, as well as tweaking my diet, I should be doing positive things to have a better body fat %.

Essentially I'm not looking for any "golden number" for weight, or body fat, I mainly just want to look great and be healthier, and I'm just using the numbers as a good reference point for getting there.

Thanks! :)

Gr8 job ! ! ! lookin at the pics I wud think maybe 3months and not only 1 month that you done this. Amazing ! Your well on your way :auto:

"I'm 19 years old and as you can see not a very good looking guy."

I think that you should try to change your way of thinking.

To be self confident, you are going to have to silence that negative inner voice. You have total control over it.

Turning negative inner dialogue into positive inner dialogue will take some work, but if you're prepared to make the commitment to yourself to do just that, then you will get there.

You've made great progress. Keep it up.

Yeah, after seeing these results this month, I've started to feel more confident. This confidence has allowed me to keep going at my workouts as intensely as I do.

I still need to work on looking at myself more positively though... that's my weak spot.

Here are the "final" results for the end of my 2 month goal. I have updated the initial post...

I am somewhat disappointed with my progress, I think I could have done much better and gotten much closer to my goal, but please, as always...

Tell me what you think!

(I could really use the feedback and a little help going forwards)

I didn't get much sleep the night before last. I'll blame my bad math on that. :blush5:

17 is still about 2 lb/week, which is considered a healthy rate. I can see a big difference in your stomach, by the way.

Actually, it's 13 lbs. ;)

Wow, the quickie math here is awful. Maybe I should have actually looked at the numbers before writing it out. Ha ha ha!

Anyways, now that we've all crunched the numbers, what do you all think of the pics? Some improvement? Does it show enough? Any encouragement going forward?
