My slimming journey

Hi Mands & congratulations on completing day 1 successfully. You don't have to cut out caffeine altogether & having one or 2 black coffees may help you detox slowly. You can cut caffeine out any time later if you want. I have 1 or 2 black coffees after breakfast & then herbal for the rest of the day. How did you go with your water? I used to save my crackers & fruit to have as a snack 1 hr before my meals when I would be really hungry, especially at the start. How many crackers & fruit can you have on your plan Mands?
Hope day 2 is ok. Break the day up into parts (5 hours) & when you get through to each meal time give yourself credit for doing so. Try not to look at the big picture & take it step by step, day by day, hour by hour.
We will be following you along the way, supporting you whenever we can. Take care Mands xo Cate

Cate, tx for the support. I really appreciate it.

I had coffee today - 2 cups. I just don't like coffee without milk but I'm getting used to it. I wasn't so tired today and didn't feel so hungry today either. Water - I don't have a problem with. I normally drink about 3 to 5 litres a day - always have - I like water.

I'm allowed 5 crackers and 2 fruits - I have it in between meals and keep my last fruit after dinner - am I allowed to do that?

I will definitely use the the tip of breaking the day into parts, that seems much easier.

Now I just need to make it through the weekend. Hold thums as my weekends are normally the worst. But I will keep busy to be distracted.

Happy loosing!:seeya:

You sure are! :)

I'm glad that you found day 2 a little easier. You'll be an 'old hand' at this Cohen's thing before you know it! I won't cross fingers or toes for you to get through the week-end. I have infinite faith in people. You can do it & will I'm sure, xo Cate

Day 3

Hi All

Day 3 on Cohen's and its getting much better!! Less headaches today and feeling a bit more energetic.

Don't know if it is my imagination but my clothes already feel more comfortable (if you know what I mean:willy_nilly:)

Thought for the day:
"Feeling healthy and feeling good about yourself is not a luxury - it's an absolute necessity"

Have a fab weekend!!
:waving:

Hey Mands!

Glad things are starting to feel easier! It will all come naturally soon!

You probably would already be loosing fluid, so I'de say its not your imagination with your clothes feeling better! I think also once we start eating the correct foods you just feel so much better mentally and this has an effect on how we feel and see ourselves. I know it does for me anyway :)

Keep up the great work... hope you're having a great weekend!

Day 4

Hiya All

Sunday today and I'm feeling soooo proud of myself. I sat through a movie last night without any popcorn and chocolate and only a glass of Tab(colddrink). And you know what it didn't even bother me the slightest bit. Whoo hoo!:hurray:

So many posts have inspired me to kick my gym up a notch - so today its me and the treadmill, trampoline and the ab flyer!

Have been going through the Cohen's recipe book and going to prep something NICE today - as we usually do on a Sunday. My husband was feeling like pancakes - OM MY GOSH! My knees went weak for a second or two but then my strong will kicked in and I told him to make for him and I will have crackerbread. How's that? Neva in my life did I think I would pass up pancakes. But I did it!!

Since starting on Cohens my stomach has been regular - I can't believe it! I've had constipation for the last 8 weeks since my hysterectomy. Now it's all back to normal. What a relief!

All in all I can say it's going good. Still get a liitle bit hungry but less and less each day!

Going shopping now for next weeks's food!

One question: Why no pork & milk?

Chow for now!
:waving:

Hey Mands!

Awesome, you're already doing so well! With that mind set, you'll knock off those 25kg in no time!

From what I understand, pork is quite fatty hence why not being allowed it on the program. Milk is a protein, so if we had that it would mean we would be breaking the rule of mixing proteins. It does get introduced in refeed towards the end.

Looking forward to hearing more about your journey Mands :)

Hey Mands,

Congrats on finishing your first 4 days, hope things are going a bit better for you now, and wait until the weight starts dropping off!!

Well done on not giving in on the pancakes, that was your first of many hurdles but i do promise you it gets easier....

I'm going to be going through this all again. Still don't have my plan, they had a bit of a issue last week, one of the tests were not done so that delayed everything, hoping to get it this week sometime so you will be about a week ahead of me.

Good luck for the week ahead and be strong.

Day 5

Hi All

Day 5 already and I'm feeling great! Couldn't wait to weigh on Thursday so I took a peep today and guess what.....lost 2.5kg(about 5 pounds) WHOOOOO HOOOO!:willy_nilly:The first time that I fall below 90kg since my mom's death (a year & 9 month ago) You have no idea what this means to me and how chuffed I am.

It's getting easier and easier each day. The reward is feeling my clothes getting looser & looser! And today 2 people asked me if I'm doing anything because they can see I've lost weight! That felt sooooo good!

Been reading some journals and all of you are doing fantastic! Keep it up gals (& boys). The reward is waiting for us!

Happy losing!
:seeya:

Day 7

Hi y'all

Have been on Cohen's for one week now. Weighed this morning and lost 3kg (6.6lbs) in one week - WHOOOOOHOOOO:jump:

I feel so good and it is the first time since my mom's death (Apr 08) that I have dropped below 90kg (198.4lbs). I feel so liberated!

I WILL lose the remainder 28kg (61.7lbs)!

People at work started to notice and comment. My trousers are loose and I had to pin my trouser today as it was falling off a bit with the crotch hanging like a "plumber" (no offense)

All in all, it's going well!

I will beat this "disease" - it will not control me. I have the power to allow it to beat me or not - I choose not to!!

Have a super day!
:seeya:

Hi Mands, It is truly amazing how quickly & how well Cohen's works. Welcome to your new life! What a great start! xo Cate

Some inspiration

Ok it's day 9 today and it has been raining for a week in South Africa. Now I get very depress with so much rain and today I've been hungry the whole day! Been thinking about my mom - which means the emotions are taking over and the chocolate craving kicked in. But I haven't had any.

However I did cheat a little - I had mozarella cheese tonight with my meat and no veggies. I feel soooooo bad and wanna kick my own butt!!:puke:(this is how I feel)

Anyway, gonna watch My sister's keeper now - to cry my heart out and get it all out!

Found a nice inspirational poem:

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst, that
You Must Not Quit.

- C. W. Longenecker

Hope you are all doing great & having a great weekend!!

Mands- I love that poem. Don't let your emotions overcome logic. It would not be hunger that you are experiencing it would be cravings or longings. Food is just food. It won't comfort you when you feel down & it hasn't. Don't weigh yourself as you may sabotage yourself further. It's done now so put it behind you & move on. We learn & learn & keep on learning until the day we die. Give yourself the best chance you can. Learn by this & keep moving toward your goal. You can do this Mands. Take each day one by one & you will get there.
Take care of yourself and love yourself Mands. Be kind to yourself. Nurture your body.

Hey Mands,

Hope you feeling a bit better today!! I have to agree with you this weather is getting to me as well, just doesn't look like it is going to clear up and the rain, oh my word, it never ends, I'm sure we are only supposed to be having afternoon showers and not contant showers!!

Anyway just wanted to say hi and keep up the good work you are doing so well that a cheat won't be worth it in the long run.

Take care

Day 10

Cate & Angel - tx for the caring words! You gals really touched me.

I'm back on the bus and had a super day! Very stressful day at work and sometimes I wish I can just make my boss dissappear! She is a very negative person, always moaning and always talking bad about people.

I'm totally opposite: I'm a positive, bubbly & always smiling gal. And if I have a problem with someone - I will tell you. Don't go behind people's back - what is that gonna achieve?? So you can see the clash.

Anyway, suffering again with the constipation and don't know what to do??? Paranoid that something might get hurt inside. Had a hysterectomy 11 weeks ago and this week the constipation is causing pain on my one ovary (didn't remove my ovaries).

Quick question: why no cheese with meat?

Still raining in SA - so no gym again today!

Sneeked in a weighing this morning and lost 3,6kg over 10 days - not too shabby :coolgleamA:

Have a stunning week everybody!!!

Hiya Mands - sorry, didnt see your post at the beginning of the week.

It's hard working with a boss with that kind of attitude and sometimes it can be hard to not let it get to you. Just keep on being your bubbly self and staying true to yourself. Take everything she says with a grain of salt and brush it off - those kind of people try and bring down the positive, bubbly people around them!

Sorry to hear about your constipation. I'm not one to give advice because I did not suffer badly with it on the program - you may need to consult your doctor if it continues to be an issue and you're feeling uncomfortable?

No meat with cheese as they are both proteins. One of the main cohens rules is no protein mixing..... I do not know the technical reasons behind this but just ask your consultant and she will be able to explain it to you in detail. This is why we have the 5 hour rule - we need to give our body 5 full hours to process the previous protein before giving the body a new one. You're able to start mixing proteins on refeed about half way through to get your body used to this again.

3.6kgs in 10 days - what a star! That is awesome Mands. Well done & keep it up. You will be on the road to thin & healthy in no time. I hope you're starting to feel amazing and really feeling that 'balance'!

Hope to hear from you again soon
Kristy xo

Mands- I'm sorry I missed this somehow too! Constipation may be caused by eating too much cheese. I suffered badly during Cohen's. Ask your consultant what she recommends. Metamucil did not work for me & I ended up taking 2 Coloxyl at night to fix it. Laxatives can be so addictive so be cautious. Constipation can be so agonising though so it's best to alleviate the problem asap. Cheers for now, Cate

Good Morning All

Sorry for not updating my diary for a while. I have been so busy and I recently started my photography course - which keeps me very busy but I LOVE IT!!!:hurray: Also keeps my mind of food!

Today is 3 weeks on Cohens and I weight now 84,5kg (186.3lbs)!!! Whoohoooo!!! I started on 91kg(200.6lbs)

Guys, I've been doing so well and I thank all of you supporting & motivating me!

Have a stunning day y'all!
:smilielol5:
