My Mission: To Lose Fifty Pounds

Height: 5'8
Start Weight: 196lbs/14 stone
Ultimate Goal Weight: 146lbs/10 stone 4.
Total Amount (in pounds) to Lose: 50lbs.

First Goal Weight: 189lbs/13 stone 7lbs. ***goal met***
Second Goal Weight: 185lbs/13 stone 3lbs. ***goal met***
Third Goal Weight: 182lbs/12 stone 13.75

The key to weight loss is eating less and moving more. This sounds like a simple enough concept, however, if it were so easy, I'd be thin already.

My intended methods for losing weight:
Calorie counting.
Exercise.

I will be eating between 1200 and 1500 calories per day.
I will be exercising between 3 and 5 times per week.

Your goal is definitely achievable. I lost 50 lbs. in 11 weeks on my customized rotation diet eating 1200/1500 every other week. Good Luck!

This place is great for motivation and to keep you going when times are hard.

Best of luck lovely!!! I agree with kate, posting in your diary everyday makes the world of a difference!! You have to lose 50 pounds, thats achievable hun. I have to lose less than a 100 pounds eeeeeek, But we can do this:)

Thanks! Had I perfected my rotation diet and had a little more self-discipline, I think I could have lost 50 in 8 weeks. At any rate that is my goal now, to lose another 50 in 8 weeks from yesterday.

Just stick to your plan and you will drop 50 too!
 
Bought new electronic bathroom scales today.
I read reviews online and the ones I bought were consistently highly regarded as being accurate/the same as scales at a doctor's office, which is what I need.

I used to have mechanical scales and I'd weigh a different number every time i stood on the scale. It was quite de-motivational. I'm looking forward to having a reliable weighing scale.

In weight loss news.. I'm actually down a few pounds since I was weighed at the Doctor's last week.

I weighed 14 stone (196lbs)
Now I'm 13 stone 6.5, which is approximately 188.5lbs.

So, without really trying and just eating sensibly, I've already smashed my first goal. Even if I've only lost water weight, I'm in the 180s. ^______^

I need to make a new mini-goal. I guess.
I think I'll make my new mini-goal 185lbs.

Im loving the new scales!! Looks pretty damn sweeeeeeeeeet :D Make sure you dont weight yourself everyday hun, because some day you have losses and then when you dont lose any or gain a half pound it makes you feel like blah. Believe me i know about this. Once a week is enough!!:):) 4.23 lbs is a great loss:)

Yeh.. I won't obsessively weigh myself if it will get depressing.
Your journal inspired me to watch 'I Used To Be Fat'. That girl lost 90lbs in 111 days. I need to move my asssss.
 
Following some research, I have realised that if I stick to eating 1,200 calories, I will not be able to exercise as vigourously as I am used to. On low calorie diets, dieters are advised to perform 'light' exercise.

I will take a few short walks this week instead of going to the gym.

I might up my calories to 1,400 next week and return to the gym/run on the streets.
 
I do rather enjoy calorie counting. I have this really useful programme that I downloaded from the internet that breaks up all the nutritional values.

Following lunch (it was small, i'll have a couple of snacks later), I'm at 507 calories. That doesn't seem very many.

B: 70g oats, 1.5 cups water, decaf coffee, 60g skim milk
S: Apple
L: 2 egg white omelette with 50g spinach & 30g ketchup, 1 sugar free jelly
 
Ooooooooh you have a 'myfitnesspal' ticker!!! I didn't know they did them.
'Myfitnesspal' is awesome. Is that the calorie counter you use online? I have it on my iphone and it is just the best, i am constantly amazed at the items in has on there. Love it, it really makes callorie counting easy.

Did you say that you read that eating 1200 cals a day ment you couldn't do more than 'light exercise'? I am allowed 1210 a day and i do quite a lot of exercise (you can see on my diary) and other than 1 day when i felt sick at the gym (combination of not resting like i was told and running when it was stupid hot) i have been fine. I think you just need to listen to your body, it will tell you when it is doing too much or not getting enough. Ok, lecture over lol :)

Well done on your progress so far, you are doing great sweetie.

I'm down 3/4 of a pound today.

Start Weight: 14 stone // 196lbs
Current Weight: 13 stone 1.5lbs // 183.5lbs
Total loss: 13lbs

I think I might up my calorie allowance today because 1200 is not sustainable.
