My Journey

So after starting this, I knew at some point I would start a 'diary' on here. Here it is! I'm not much of a writer, so this will likely be more a collection of my random thoughts, musings, gripes, and so on than a daily diary.

Today, the third day, has been really tough for me. Eating breakfast where I work (they serve M-Th), was easy yesterday, but today, it was hard, real hard. I had some cottage cheese, fruit, hash brown patty, and one sausage link. I know this isn't the best I could do, but calorie wise, it didn't kill me (according to MyFitnessPal on iPhone). I sat there and was dying for more sausage, normally i'd eat 3-4 of the things so stopping at one was so so tough, BUT I DID IT!

Then, for lunch, we had a long-standing lunch date, which I had totally forgotten about. Rather than get the crispy chicken salad with 3 huge fried chicken tenders, cheese, and all the dressing like the rest, I settled for a chicken caesar wrap chips, and again, more calories than I wanted, but left me in ok shape for a small meal and snack tonight.

This is sooooo hard! Especially watching others eat!

Hi, welcome to WLF! I agree, hard to eat healthy and petite when others are not on the same boat. So, do you have a plan for your weight loss, or are you still searching that out? Any goals?

I'd like to think this is some kind of plan...haha.

I'm obviously watching very strictly what I eat. Counting calories, drinking lots of water, etc. Once my wife and I get our tax return we are putting it toward a membership at the local YMCA to begin a swimming regimen. We love doing it, just in the past with no motivation the cost didn't seem worth it. The nice thing about it, if we don't feel like swimming one night, we can easily do treadmill, ellipticals, etc.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was busy, considering I had to work both days and didn't get them off!

It's really amazing to me just how well I can eat, and still be very healthy and 'calorie conscious'. My wife has really taken an intiative to fix filling, yummy meals that's helping us shed the pounds!

Well done! Sounds like you're putting all the pieces in place between having a supportive wife, plan for tracking calories, and finding motivation to start on the physical activity. Preparing meals at home and trying new foods sounds like an excellent way to keep things fresh and avoid falling back into the old habits when it comes to eating.

Figuring out specific goals can be tough in the beginning but it will give you something to shoot for and plan towards so the sooner you can come up with a few goals and target dates the better.

Look forward to seeing your progress over the coming months.

Things have been going very well here. I haven't been online in days it seems, but life is busy, and time to sit and actually type is rare. I am currently down 18 pounds from my starting 300, now at 282. I know it may seem to be coming off easy in the beginning, but it will become tougher and tougher.

Hopefully in a week or so I'd like to take some progress pictures and put them in my album. I think another week or so, and hopefully by then in the 270s, i'd be interested to look for progress.

Have a good rest of the weekend everyone!

Thank you! I hope I can offer others the same support you all do! It's nice having some people here as well to push me in the back.

I had a great weekend, worked both days (only really bad thing), ate fantastic and HEALTHY, and put myself in position to get into the 270s for the first time in a long time!

Hopefully I can get around to some progress pictures on the other thread later in the week.

Fantastic job on the eating and motivation. Brawny, yourself and I started out in similar positions. The thought of that 3 as the first number on the scale was great motivation.

Keep up the great work!

Good Thursday all!

I wish I could get on here more often, but I just have not had the chance. I'm estatic though because I've hit a milestone of a sorts in that i'm weighing in at 277-278 right now!! I've not been in the 270s for as long as I can remember!

It's gotten tougher recently, not the dieting and such, but lots of work stress beating me up, so the temptation has been there to pig out on sweets and grease, but I have not!

Hopefully in the next couple days I can post update pics over on that thread!
