My journey to feeling comfortable in my own skin

I love the idea of having a goal picture! Welcome to the forum and good luck on your journey, looking forward to your updates :)

We have the same goal picture, but different goals I think. :D

Welcome aboard. Everyone here is nice and helpful. Except for me, I'm kind of a pain.

Good luck!!!

thankyou guys :) i just figured a goal picture was more realistic than pulling a size out of thin air and saying "this is what i want to be" :willy_nilly:

Last time I did this diet

Just thought I would upload a comparison photo from last time I tried this diet. Everything in my life went crazy just after the second photo so I gave up on the diet, but now I'm doing it again :)

Getting on the scale today and seeing that I'm 185lb (2.8lb up from my original weigh-in last tuesday) was very demoralizing :(

Weight fluctuates so much from day to day. Don't let it get you down & try not to weigh any more than once a week. When you lost weight back in 2013 MagentaGirl, did you also use SlimFast?

Ok, just was hoping to be down a little bit, was never expecting to be up :/ and yes I did use slimfast although didn't stick to it rigidly

I have just been talking to one of my best friends who currently weighs 203lb and is looking to lose weight as well so we are going to swap weigh-ins and pictures each week to encourage each other's progress!!!

Hi, MG. don't get discouraged. The body senses a reduction in calories and responds by slowing metabolism and holding on to water to maintain. It's an auto defensive response. You can increase exercise and/ or eat lots of lean meat and fresh veggies. That increases the amount of food but not calories. Both of those things can jump start your metabolism to get you through a plateau. Good luck.

Reasonable and attainable goals, that is a good to break them up and you have good focal points to zone in on. It's going to be challenging but fun. I know you'll get back to your last attempt. No giving up this time! Hang in there and let's meet that goal in January.

Thank you guys, really appreciate the help and motivation :) I'll keep this post updated to let you all know how I'm doing x

I'm thinking of this for my exercise routine (a mixture of classes and individual workouts):

Monday = Rest day
Tuesday = Gym 10-11am (20mins cardio, 40mins weights)
Wedsnesday = Body Step 9:30-10:25am
Thursday = Legs, Bums & Tums 9:30-10:25am
Friday = Abs Blast 10:45-11.15am
Saturday = Gym 8-9pm (20mins cardio, 40mins weights)
Sunday = Gym 5-6pm (20mins cardio, 40mins weights)

I will be doing alternate saturdays (every other week) due to other commitments.

Any advice/tips, or does this plan seem ok?

When I spoke with my primary care physician, he recommended to me to build around the 30 min per day cardio as a minimum. He told me if I couldn't start out with that, then try to work towards it. Take a rest day one day per week if needed. He said to add in weights 3 days per week and tweak it as I go. Something to consider.

Well I also walk my dog twice a day, an hour in the morning and 20mins in the evening so that kinda counts towards cardio

That's awesome that you and your friend are going to be a support system for each other! That alone should do wonders for both of you guys and your determination levels. I'm sure you'll get to your goal this time! :)
