My Journey Continued: Fresh Slate For 2014!

Welcome to 2014!

This new year brings me a new diary. I wanted to start over with a fresh slate. I want everything that happened in 2013 to stay in 2013. I’m looking forward to what this new year will bring! My old diary can be found here: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/57466-My-Journey-Positive-Outlook-For-2013

~~

As I posted in my last post in my old diary, I decided sometime in December to give up diet and exercise for the month. I had been through a lot since late November and it ran right through December. With the holiday season upon me I knew the stress was just going to be too much to handle so I “freed” myself and ate what I wanted, when I wanted. That lead to some very poor food choices. Lots of homemade cookies, lots of chocolates, lots of take out, and even some soda. As a result, my weight of 195.2lb shot up to 202.6lb (as of this morning). Not good, but I don’t regret my decision. I just wanted to enjoy my holiday as much as I could have so that’s what I did.

Well, now it’s time to get back on track. Today restarts my journey. I know it’s going to be rough for the first few days. After allowing myself so much freedom over the past month it’s going to be difficult to take it all away, but I’m up for that challenge. I intend to take full responsibility for my actions going forward where food and exercise is concerned. No more excuses, it’s time to get refocused!

As for my game plan for today. My father is currently making breakfast for the family. He’s making eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns. Not exactly the healthiest breakfast, but it’ll be very filling so it’ll keep my snacking at bay for the day. If I’m hungry later on, it’ll be a light dinner. I’ll be drinking lots of water today, no more soda! I’m also going to be getting a workout in later today.

So with all of that said, I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve and I hope that we can all make great progress towards our goals this year. I hope 2014 is full of happiness and success for all! :)

Good luck for 2014 Mandy! I wish you the best. :)

I struggled a lot on December, too. So I've made virtually zero progress since November.

I hope we can both get back on track soon!

Take care. :grouphug:

Great outlook, and I think a new diary with a fresh start is a great idea - I just may do the same myself. Leave the past behind and move forward.

Good luck with changing the eating habits, but good for you not regretting your decision. You will lose that weight in no time and be back to 195.2 very soon :)

Hi Mandy! Glad to see you are posting again, I've missed you! You did have a very rough December, I'm glad you were able to take a bit of a break but then come right back! Happy 2014 :)

Thanks everyone! I seem to do better with diet and exercise when I come here daily so I'm going to try to get caught up and post more frequently. It'll help me with my motivation issues that are lacking at the moment.

Well, last week didn’t go well. So much for getting back on track. It was a rough week because my work schedule was still screwed up because of the holidays. I still ate more than I should have and still did not get my exercise in. No excuses though. I could have eaten better and I could have exercised. I just chose not too.

So, today my goal is to really try to get back on track. My work schedule is back to normal so it’ll be easier to get everything else back to normal. I know once I get past the first few days it’ll be easier, but these first few days are going to be a challenge. I have to figure out how to threw them. I have healthier foods with me at work today and I am planning on exercising tonight. I’m using my upcoming trip in March as motivation because I’ll need to be in a wet suit in front of people I don’t know. I’m nervous about it and know I won’t be where I want to be, but I do want to be thinner than I am now. Every little bit helps.

I have not weighed in since New Year’s Day. I’m going to try weekly weigh ins instead of daily for a while and see how it goes. Going by that, this coming Wed will be my next weigh in. Hopefully it won’t be too bad. We’ll see…

I find it much more difficult when I'm not on a schedule to plan for my eating as well. I'm glad the holidays are behind us as well!

Hey Mandy

Long time since I've been on here and you what a change I see in you from the last time we chatted. Positive and all in good spirits!! Here's to a killer year for us!!

Well, yesterday was a pretty good day. I ate light. I think I ate a little too light because when I went to do my taebo I felt really weak and didn’t make it through the whole thing. I only missed the last 10 minutes so I did still get a decent workout in. My legs just felt like they were going to buckle. I tried pushing myself to finish, but my legs had other plans. :(

For breakfast yesterday I had a bowl of oatmeal. Late morning snack was some pineapple. Lunch was a big bowl of home made chicken noodle soup. Afternoon snack was a serving of Teddy Grahams (low cal snack). Dinner (which was after taebo) was steak and rice pilaf. I made it through the day without any major chocolate/sweet cravings which is good considering how bad I’ve been lately.

Today I’m planning on consuming more, healthily. I’m going to get through Taebo tonight and I’m going to give it my all. I desperately need to get everything back on track!

You are doing great Mandy! Good job pushing yourself with Taebo! Sometimes you just don't have the energy to finish but you did as much as you could. Hope the cravings stay away today and you have more energy for Taebo tonight :)

Thanks! I really wanted to get through that exercise, but my legs were really weak. :(

Well, I ate more yesterday and felt better during my workout. I made it through the whole workout. I must say that I’m learning the hard way that taking more than a month off from exercise do you no favors! I can’t believe how winded I get during the workout. I used to get pretty winded before, but it’s worst now. It’ll take some time to get back to 100% again. I don’t think I’m going to be taking a month off like that again.

So yesterday I had oatmeal for breakfast. Peaches for the AM snack. Lunch (which was around noon) was a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup and crackers. At around 3ish I made a peanut butter and fluff sandwich. I was going for just peanut butter, saw the fluff and said the heck with it. I haven’t had a fluffernutter in years. It was good, just not as good as I was envisioning. About an hour later I had a handful of teddy grahams. For dinner we had a frozen pizza. Oh, and I also treated myself to (2) small York peppermint patties (they’re like the bite sized ones). I probably ended up over my calorie intake, but Monday I was well under so it’ll balance out in the end.

I keep saying it, but I really need to find some healthier food options. I have to take that more seriously and come up with some more ideas. That’s part of my issue. I don’t really plan ahead and end up scrambling and making do with what I have.

This morning’s weigh in was 201.8lb which is almost down a full pound from last week. I’m happy with that considering I still ate a lot more than I should’ve when the week started. Just the last two days included any real exercise. So hopefully next week’s weigh in will be an even better loss. :)

YAY! Glad you got through it all yesterday :) And even though you've taken a month off, it will come back much faster if you keep it up. You will be back to where you were fitness wise in no time!

Thanks guys! :)

I have to say I'm feeling very proud of myself for my dedication with food intake over the past week. Considering what I was eating before getting back on track I'm doing pretty darn good! I have been eating healthy while still allowing myself some chocolate as a snack. Those snacks for this week have been (2) of the bite sized York peppermint patties at 50 calories each. I like them because they're low cal and you can break them up into smaller pieces so it seems like you're getting more out of them. :)

Last night was pretty interesting. It was rest night as I did groceries and had no time to exercise. On my home I stopped at Subway and it would've been cheaper to get a $5 foot long than a 6" sub that I normally get so I got the foot long not intending to eat the whole thing. I ate half and picked the second half up. It was so tempting, but somehow I was able to pass it up. I put it back in the wrapper, rolled it up, and gave it to my father to take to work today. He was happy for the free lunch and I was proud for saying no. I'll have to remember how good it felt so I can use it the next time I'm tempted.

I decided yesterday that I wanted to start daily weigh ins again. The weekly thing didn't last long. I think daily weigh ins is more of a motivator for me. So yesterday I was pleasantly surpised when I weighed in at 201.4lb. This morning I was even more pleasant surprised to weigh in at 199.8lb! I hope I'm officially back in onederland, but we'll have to see if I get anymore fluctuations over the next few days. I'm still up about 4-5lb from my low, but I'm happy to have broken the 200lb barrier.... again!

I feel bad that I've only posted in my diary for most part. I'm going to try to get caught up in all of your diaries tonight, if not it'll be over the weekend for sure. Thanks for the continued support!

You are doing excellent Mandy!!
Daily weigh ins is a thing I consider too, if I have a weigh in within the next 24-48 hours I am so much better at sticking to my diet.

Hi Clarissa! It’s been a while. Nice to hear from you. :) For some reason I was starting to stress about not doing the daily weigh ins. Since I deal with enough stress in other areas of life I figured I’d just do it daily and get rid of that bit of stress. It does seem to help motivate me more. :)

Wow Q! Good memory! LOL No, I didn’t see him there. He was only filling in for that one day. I think he said he works at a different Subway in a different city. I’m surprised you remembered that though. :)

Weighed in a 199.2lb this morning. Every day I’ve weighed in this week has been lower and lower. Very encouraging! I’ve gotten exercise in every day this week other than Thurs too which was my planned rest day. I’m feeling it again. :)

I’ve decided to mix up my schedule for next week to see if it works out better. My goal is to get up earlier, do my exercises first thing in the morning, and then at night I can cook a healthier style meal plan. Lately I’ve been having too much take out or sodium loaded frozen foods because I just don’t have the time to cook at night along with exercise, spend time with the dogs, etc. This means I’ll be getting up at 4:45am (eek!).

I subscribed to Cooking Light magazine and have a few really yummy sounding recipes to try so we’ll see how it goes. :)

Me2! Steady decreased #'s since Sunday's high weight. YAY US!! Sounds like you are back in a good groove. Hope the new schedule works out next week :)
