My get fit journal

Hey everyone,
I am new here and I decided to post my journal so I can learn and get advice from everyone on the forum. I am 4'11 and weighed 115 when i started about a month ago and I weigh 109 now. I know my weight is pretty low already but my ultimate goal is to lose weight by eating a healthy low fat diet and through exercise in order to burn fat. I want lose fat and weight down to when i'm about 100 lbs and then eventually be back up to 108 -110 after gaining muscle weight. My family's genes are pretty bad. I am only 109 but i have cellulite, for those of you who didnt think thinner people got it, OH YES WE DO!!! and its alot more noticable. I am in the military, so being fit is very important to me. I look forward to your advice. This is what I've got planned for eating today.

Breakfast- 1 cup of dry Chex cereal

Snack- 1 cup of green beans

Lunch- Uncle Ben's Bowl: Chicken Fettucini alfredo

Snack- green tea

Dinner- 1 lemon peppered chicken breast and broccoli

This is what I have been eating. I'm not sure if this is good or healthy or what but i'll take anyone's suggestions. Does any one else eat Uncle Ben's Bowl's? They are only about 330 calories and are very filling! Please let me know if you know anything about these being bad for health or weight loss. They are supposed to be 98% fat free but you never know. I've been eating like this and working out for a month and only lost 5 lbs. I do retain a lot of water because of all my sodium intake. I'm working on that.

Well i just got back from the gym. I did a Cardio Kickboxing class for an hour and about a 10 min ab workout afterwards. It feels so good to be showered and back at work. I'm about to eat my Uncle Ben's bowl. Hoefully this is a smart meal choice. Okay, i'll write again later or tomorrow.
 
only 9 pounds to lose... you should get there in no time! just keep looking forward!
as far as cellulite... all I can say is put lotion on like every single night... and really rub the area... I hear it should smooth things out a little..
 
Thanks for that tip Christina! I think i'm going to try one of those that they sell at wal-mart or something. I dont have the funds for those expensive ones. Maybe later...
as fasr as only having 9 lbs, believe it or not, its really hard for me to lose weight. im not sure if its what i eat, or if i'm not exercising enough or if my body just refuses to go lower. So i'm trying to do this in a slow healthy way so that I can adapt to these changes as a lifestyle not just as a way to lose the weight then gain it right back. i have do be disciplined. There are so many temptations out there and I dont get much support at work since most of everyone i work with are guys who can eat eat eat and eat junk food and fast food and still have rock hard abs. They like to rub it in my face when they're eating a cheeseburger or something. It sucks....but i know i can do it.
 
Ugh, I am so not a morning person. I packed my bag lsat night with everything i needed to shower and get ready at work so i can go PT in the morning. But when the alarm clock went off I couldnt help but to keep hitting snooze. I really look up to you ladies who are here posting at the crack of dawn. I dont wake up until 0630 on a regular work day but i have to get up at 0500 for PT if i decide to go in the morning. Couldnt do it...anyhow, i brought my stuff to changeover at work and PT during chowtime. I plan on running our PFT (physical fitness test) course. Which is 3 miles. I wont do it for time. Just a nice pace. Then i'll do some ab workouts and come on back to work. I just hope i get the motivation to go...its friday and i get so lazy since i know the weekend is just around the corner....wish me luck!
So far i've only had some frozen fruit that i had in the freezer. Is this stuff good? i bought it since it was fruit but I'm not too sure now. I plan on eating some dry rice chex cereal as a snack. Lunch, i havent bought it yet, but im going to get a roasted chicken and rice Uncle Ben's bowl. Only 330 calories and 3.5g of fat.
 
Yay!!! I'm so proud of myself!! I ended up going to my PT( physical training) session and I did what I had planned, which was to run our 3 mile course. I wasnt going to time myself but I did anyways, and even though i felt that i wasnt running as fast as i could have, i still ran it in 22:12. Which so far has been my best time! I'm going to shower and change over and then going to eat my turkey and mustard pita with baked potato chips. I know its not the healthiest choice, but i didnt get a chance to make dinner last night and so i picked this up at the store. Better then regular chips or fast food. I'll be back to post later! i did really good this weekend. I was really busy saturday running around doing things so all i had time to eat was a 3 piece chicken select and fruit n yogurt parfait from mcdonald's. for dinner i just had a handful of raisinettes. I went to a holloween party at a night club and danced the night away. that was my exercise for the day. and sunday i felt sick so i just had a good dinner. i made baked chicken corn and white rice. yummy....today ive had my rice chex cereal. and i plan on going on a 4 mile run on the beach during lunch time. i brought some chicken, rice and broccoli for lunch....cant wait.
 
i just got back from getting my snack for this morning. i got a fruit n yogurt parfait from mcdonald's this is my favorite snack ever! cant wait till i go on that run. i'll be hurting while im running, but its such a great feeling after you're done exercising while you are on your cooling down period. i love it!
 
People always rag on McDonald's for having crappy food, but I tell you, they've started coming out with some really good stuff lately. Personally, I love their chicken bacon ranch salad, which is only 300 calories, and really filling! I've never tried the parfait though, maybe I should next time I go!
 
Yes, you should definately try it next time you go. they have 2 sizes a snack size or a large for a small meal like breakfast or something...today i had a small breakfast so i ate the large one as a snack. Shhhhh...LOL. I wish i liked salads. I really do. I can eat italian dressing salads from Olive Garden but only once in a while. Its the dressings i dont like. so most of the time i just have lettuce with lemon juice, which is really good. but my lettuce usually goes bad before i even finish half of it.
 
Okay, I went on my run but it ended up being 2.5 miles. Not bad though because we ran on the soft sand. OMG it was so hard! But it felt good once we were done. I had a piece of baked chicken, a little bit of white rice and about a half a cup of broccoli. YUMMY! oh yes, and a diet rockstar.

hey there - it sounds like you are off to a great start!!! There are instructions for updating your ticker in the Newcomers thread - I'm not quite sure how to explain it - b/c everyone does it a bit different...

you had posted in our group thread about water - one of the reasons that I drink so much water is b/c #1 - we should anyways, most people never get in the recommeded 64 oz a day, #2 - it helps with cravings, #3 - the more water you drink, supposedly the more it helps with your weight-loss... I know for myself it just makes me feel healthier, and I can really notice a difference now when I don't have that much water in a day.

I think that the Uncle Ben's bowls are probably just fine - you might want to try to lower your sodium intake like you said b/c it would cause more water retention... Fruit is also very good to keep in your diet. I have some frozen berries and peaches in my fridge that I add to some plain yogurt and a bit of granola in the morning (basically the same as your fruit and yogurt parfait at McDonalds) - and it only takes a few seconds to make (once you thaw the berries in the microwave for 30 seconds)... I also try to have at least an apple or raisins or something in the day as one of my snacks.

Hey Thanks so much for those tips. And i'll check out those instructions about the ticker. Yes, i am really working on my sodium intake. Its usually worse when i eat broccoli or stuff like that but ive come a long way. i use to only be able to eat broccoli if it was drenched in melted cheese. but now im down to just adding a little bit of salt, almost none!

I had a parait from McDonald's last night! Those things are so good and the one I had last night was loaded with fruit!

Regarding the cellulite... I heard that drinking carbonated beverages (even carbonated water) will cause cellulite.
 
yeah I heard that too about bread and carbonated drinks. I use to be the BIGGEST soda addict! I use to have nothing but Coke or Dr. Pepper to the point that it gave me a kidney infection, so i layed off for a couple of years then i went to iraq and got hooked on them again. but since i started this diet/workout routine i havent touched one for about 1 1/2 months. it was killing me but i know its better for me. I just hope i dont get back to drinking them when i get back to iraq in feb.
 
Okay last night i did good on not eating candy but I didnt have time to make dinner, so I had a mini bad of Smart Pop popcorn and a glass of tea. This morning I had a cup of rice Chex cereal (dry) No snack since I was busy here at work, then I went to my cardio kickboxing class and now im here and I am going to eat a Dinty Moore Roast beef lunch thingy. Only 230 Cal and 4.5 g of fat...BUT it has 2 g of saturated fat....DOH!!! still better then going to eat a cheeseburger or something!
 
wow! you're doing so awesome!!! you've lost 6lbs already. that's great. i didn't realize there were other people on here with low weights to start out with. i'm at 106 now. with my body type it just doesn't look good. i can't wait to catch up to you and lose 6 lbs. congrats!!
 
I didnt realize it either. I cant wait to lose 2 more lbs and be at your weight. I totally agree with the body type compared to weight thing. I think to myself sometimes and im like okay why should i have to lose anymore weight? but its just that i have such a small frame that i look heavier then i really am and i have a little bit of flab, i guess you can say. I want to lose fat and tone up. i know I can do it. Im going home to visit my family for thanksgiving...The first thanksgiving in 3 years that ill get to spend with them!!! I'm so excited!!! I need everyone's help to stay motivated and to keep going because i always end up losing some weight and by the time i get to go home and visit i gained it back again....Anyhow, good luck on your goals too! i'll be checkin in on you!
 
UGHHH>>>I cant believe I've been out of it for so long now. I've had the most horrible past week and a half or so, but the last few days have been the worst. I had a feeling that my boyfriend was cheating on me and ever since i got suspicious it seemed like everytthing he was doing was secretive, like going outside to talk on his phone or keeping his phone on silent when we were laying down getting ready to sleep. And I just couldnt handle it and when i brought it up it led to a very big arguement and then i kicked him out my apartment and i have been miserable ever since. I didnt get out of bed except to use the bathroom since friday when it happened. So all weekend was horrible. I ate fast food that a friend brought over becuase i didnt feel like getting out of bed and i justfeel so down..... :-(
