I am a 51 year old male in Pasadena, 5'10" and was at 220. The doctor told me to lose 40 pounds, but a website said that I should weigh much less. Anyways, my goal is 155-160. This morning, after being on a diet for four weeks.. I am down to 202. I have lost 18 pounds in four week. I knew I was losing, as my clothes were fitting better.. but I didn't realize so much had come off.
I am eating 1200 a day, in 5 or 6 small feedings. Lots of water. I am using Nutrisystem food, plus my own stuff, to equal 1200 a day.
This site has been such an encouragement to me over the past few weeks. I really do appreciate every thing people say on here to encourage one another.
Just wanted to 'report in', and say best to everyone.. I hope that we all have a productive week, in this adventure of getting back into and staying in good health.

Respectfully,
Steve

Wahoo!!! Congrats on the weight loss~I'm so jealous of men sometimes. Guys seem to lose weight faster than gals. Anyway, keep up the great work, you'll be at your goal in no time!

Thank you..

for your encouragement. And best to you on your venture as well.
What I am somewhat amazed at.. is that it has been relatively easy. There have been times that I have been hungry.. but not much, and not that many.
I have never done the 5-6 feedings a day thing. But I think that, at least for me, it is the way to go.

I read somewhere on this site that this method also keeps the metabolism more active, is that right?

Again thanks. Success to everyone here.

Hi Steve,
Welcome to your diary :D

Eating 5-6 small meals is a great way to keep your metabolism working it, but 1200 calories is still pretty low and it wouldn't be surprising if your body takes a little break from losing weight because of it. I eat around 1200-1300 and when I didn't lose, I found upping my calories or cycling days of higher calories with days of lower calories to be helpful.

Are you exercising?

Again, welcome to the site, and keep up the great work!
