Hi there,

Thats probably will be the 20 time i try start eating healthy, but for some reason i believe this time i'll get to my ideal weight and keep it:)
Today is my first day, and even though was my colleague's birthday and he brought a lovely coffee cake offering everyone, i said no thanks, i'm delighted with myself. I think this time i'm definately going to do this...
Well i'm 200 pounds, my BMI is 35 and i'm only 5'2". I'm 26 years of age.
I want to loose 50 pounds by Xmas and another 20 by february 08.
So today i had:
Breakfast: fat free yogurt + unsweeted green tea
Snack: Almonds
Lunch: Greens salad with italian dressing + grilled breast of chicken
Snack: Apple
Dinner: Brown rice + salmon steak grilled

Hopefully i'll keep it this way:)....

Starting to read this book by Tom Venuto "Burn the Fat feed the muscle" Its brilliant so it is. he advises to write down your goal, what do i want to achieve, so there they are:
1. i want to loose 80 pounds in 8 months.
2. i want to get those abs, so i'm hitting a gym 4 times a week, split my exercises like 30 min cardio + 30 min wree weights + start and finish my session with abs exercises.
3. I want to get healthy, so i eat cleat at least 90%, take multi vitamins.
4. I want to get a degree in finance, so i registered with university for distance learning, which also will keep me busy and i wont think of food as often:)
5. I need some motivation so i spend some time on this site, and once a week i visit weight watchers meetings to be with likeminded people

So there you go this is my plan so far:)

Hey, your goals look awesome!!! Your exercise schedule is great too.By the way, I have a degree in finance..:) And I started from 200 lbs also.
Your food choices seem great, have you tried Fitday.com to enter it daily and find out the calories? I found that site to be very helpful. Do you drink a lot of water?
You are on the right track, keep it up.
Have a great day!!

Hi hajni,

Thanks for your reply.
Thats cool you have a degree in finance, i'm about to finish 2 year long cource and hoping to get diploma as qualified financial adviser in february and then university:) Love finances, expecially investment side of it:)

I drink plenty of water at least 2L a day, the funny thing i do that not because i need to but i like, besides i don't like fizzy drinks at all for some reason.

The only problem i have is alcohol, well its not like i'm addicted or anything, but i like occasional drink and when i do after i can empty my fridge, can't control myself, so this time i decided diet with no alcohol, for at least first few month, its going to be tough, but i can do this.

You know when you work in finance you r under preassure all the time, and clients can be very ignorant and high-maitenance and rude, so i really need that drink on friday night with my friend just to relax, well i presume its going to be juice from now on:eek:

Thanks,

Hi all,

I'm ashamed to admit by i cheated this wknd and had plenty of wine followed by fat chinese take away!!!!
My calorie intake for saturday was around 3000 cal when supposed to be 1500 only:(
Well i have to spend more time in gym today and probably for the rest of the week to make up for my cheat.:)
Safe to say that was my last time drinking alcohol if i can't handle eating healthy after, then i don't need it...
Went shopping on sunday, saw a very lovely red coat, well probably in US you still have great weather, we here in Ireland not so much:) Its already cold and windy in here:( anyway the biggest size theyhad was 16 (UK) and i couldn't close buttons on me!!! I nearly cried, i'll tell that definately gave me more motivation:)
Anyway i'm back on track today with healthy eating.
Breakfast: 0% fat yogurt + green tea
Snack: 2 apples
Lunch: Tuna wrap with lettuce, tomatoes and peppers
Snack: Slim fast fruit bar
Dinner: Whole grain pasta + skinless chicken breast boiled unsalted.
Before go to bed: herbal tea with honey

More or less the same planed for the rest of the week.

Don't worry about your naughty Saturday. One day won't hurt you, and now it appears that you are back on track. Don't get discouraged. I love your shamrock ticker--how appropriate! I'm so jealous that you live in Dublin! I think it would be cool as hell. I've spent quite a bit of time in the UK, but never made it to Ireland. I would love to go, though.:)

Forgot something--as for the weekend drinking, I would go for wine instead of beer, cider or cocktails. It has fewer calories and carbs--and they say a glass of red wine a day is good for your heart..lol

Goals are good but make sure you don't put off feeling joy each day!

How do you know how much to eat? Your calories look low to me.
Read as much under On Topic to get real educated about eating to lose. If you can't adhere to your plant you're not eating enough. The problem is we don't know exactly how much we were eating before so we tend to slash too much.

Your body needs a certain amount of calories just to function. Most of your calories are burned just existing, plus what you burn in exercise, 150 right up to 1000 calories more. Give your body a certain amount of calories per pound of bodyweight, like 10-15, so for you 200 pouonds x 10 calories would be 2000 calories maintenance. Eat twenty percent below that and you will be in a deficit. Well, when I was 200 I multiplied my weight by 15 calories (in pounds) and ate 20% below that and lost.

Don't give up before you see results. Make the changes and get out of your own way. If you 're hungry at night, eat a little more, 100-200 calories at a time. I hope you don't go crazy hungry. Don't give up because you're hungry! (That's usually why diets fail).

See you round. Enjoy your new healthy lifestyle!

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. I just wanted to support you. It REALLY helped me to know that each day was a success, was a deficit day, and was sustainable. Just read as much as you can and you will be successful.

Thanks you all for replies, as i'm new to this all the advises are very usefull. Appreciate this:)

Hi Happychubette, actually you right i have started that thing fitday.com and turns out my intake is a bit low, so i decided to increase my snacks and breakfast:)
I tried all sorts of diets before and as you mentioned yourself they all fail because you have to starve yourself, and when you can't stick to it anymore you eat a lot and whatever you lost comes back in twise the amount you lost!!!

Thanks again:)

Hi bikinibound,

thanks for encouragment and motivation. I got mad at myself for nearly ruining my diet last weekend, as far as i understood i can't keep myself away from food when i have few drinks on me, so i think i just leave it for a few months and you right if i'll have one it'll be wine:)

hey i'm jealous you live in States:) I always wanted to go there, my sister lived in NYC and travelled around a bit and she loved it:)
But i'll tell you Dublin is a great place, irish are very friendly and they always take all easy just as it comes:)
Well if you ever decide to come down here let me know i'll show you around:)

Cheers!!

Yeah, red wine isn't that bad--no carbs and not bad in calories. But if it gives you the munchies, it might be better to leave it alone for awhile.

Thanks for the offer of tourguide. If I ever get my hands on some money again, I'll take you up on it! lol And if you ever get to Michigan, I'll do the same. I love to show people around my beautiful state--we are surrounded by 4 of the 5 Great Lakes.

I think it's good for you to up your calories some. The worst thing is to starve yourself and be hungry.

Hi,
I am glad you are utilizing fitday.com for your calories and finding out that you need to up them. My previous "diets" always failed because I ate too few calories , hoping to see quick results. Well, since i started reading all the stickies on this forums and all the posts i am more educated about this, and know that I have to eat to lose!! However silly that sounds!!:)
How are your exercises going?
When i used to drink alcohol I felt also munchin on something too, and I always got a headache after and got dehydrated so I just gave that up. :)
Hope you are having a good day!!
Hajni

hey all,

So here is my new revised intake:

Breakfast: Whole boiled egg + wholemeal bread 2 slices + herbal tea
Snack: yogurt + tea
Lunch: brown rice + tuna steak canned + cup cherry tomatoes
Snack: banana
Dinner: brown rice + shrimps + brocolli
Before go to bed: carrots

In relation to my exercises i'm starting again next week, i'm away to busy this week with work:(
But as i did before i would split my exercises into 30 min cardio and 30 min free weights i always start and finish my workout with abs exercises for about 10-15 min.

I'm the only one in my gym my size the rest of them are just skinny, the girls my size usually would be at aerobics for some reasons:(

Wish you all the best and have a great day!!

Hi all,
its been a long time since my last post!! Ah well have to say i wasn't very good with my healthy eating plan, got a pizza once ,but in general not too bad now:)
It's probably due to stress in my new job, i know thats not an exuse, but anyway... Well everything is fine now i got used to new place and duties and i love it, i think its always hard when you come into new place with strange people, different boss and all...

So this week i was very good here is what i eat:
Brkf: Oat porridge(a cup) + teaspoon of honey or rasins
Snack: Cup of herbal tea and almonds
Lunch: Salad(cauliflower+cucumber+cherry tomatoes+cesar dressing low fat) and tuna canned (a cup)
Snack: orange + green tea
Dinner: Green beans + chicken breast grilled
And i drink a pint of water with every meal

I'm going to weight myself on saturday and see how much i have lost, hopefully at least a pound:mad:

Have a great weekend everyone:)
