My Diet Diary

I am 5'7 and currently 164 pounds. I lost about 50 pounds two years ago on LA weight loss (good program but it's a rip off). I have kept off all the weight since I lost it. Back in Feb I was able to get down to 153. I was in the gym everyday and eating almost nothing it felt like.. I was frustrated and couldnt figure out why I wasn't continuing to lose. I found out in May that I have Hypothyroidism, which effects my metabolism, making me tired and unable to lose weight. I am now on a medicine to stabilize and should be able to see results from working out and making good food choices.

I am here because I think this would be the support I need to stay on track to hit my goal. My boy friend is a foody.. he absolutely loves food! Im not even allowed to cook in the kitchen. I LOVE this and feel so lucky I have a guy that takes care of me! But I can see the affects its having on my body. He is also trying to watch his weight.

Together we go to the gym four nights a week which is going well. I can see that he has lost some weight. I still have not lost any in the last month we have been going. I will also be hiking a mountain about 5 mins from our house in about a week, it's almost cool enough outside. I tried about two weeks ago but thought I was going to have a heat stroke. I am anxious to get to my goal. I hope I can juggle school, working out and my full time night job at the hospital. Plus still finding time to spend with J.

Heh, I'm trying to juggle working out, school, and a full-time night job at a hospital. Its not easy, but its doable. Just need to be consistant.

Thanks man.. I think I just need to plan out my week before it happens. Managing my time is going to be key.

Hey! :seeya: Just found your post in the newbies section and thought I would drop in your diary. That's good that you were diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism (not good that you were diagnosed but good to know what was keeping you from losing weight). Good luck on your weight loss... you can TOTALLY do it! :D

J and I went to the gym last night as usual. I dont really like going late at night but its when our schedules work. We also meet one of J's friends at the gym. I warmed up last night walking and jogging on the treadmill for about 20 minutes.. I spent the rest of the time on the stair stepper. I am trying to get ready for hiking in about two weeks when the weather is below 100.. I switch up the stair stepper skipping a stair between each step so I take giant steps. I feel that by doing this I am getting a much stronger leg work out.
The smorning I woke up early for class, I had a bowl of whole grain cereal and skim milk before I left. I came home around 10 and felt hungry but just drank some water. J woke up and we tried this new gourmet sandwich place for lunch. It wasnt bad but it wasnt good either. I had the chicken little, chicken, lettuce, tomato, avocado. Personally I would rather just had a sandwich J made. I am kinda spoiled by how good J's cooking is..
I am off to class again tonight, after that I am headed to the gym. :)

I set my alarm to get up at 6:40 to go hiking. I wasnt planning on starting for another week or so because of the heat. But, my girl friend text me that she wants to go this sat at 7. I had been trying to hike around 930 after my first class on mon, wed and fri.. I got up earlier to test it out and make sure its not going to be to hot for us. I made it to the top, it's about an hour hike up. I sat at the top for about 15 mins until my heart beat was normal. Ppl usually run down this mountain and I have before but I am taking it slow because every time I get cocky I twist my ankle!! And I hate that.. I have one class today and a bunch of errands to run. Im gonna need a nap for some energy going to the gym tonight!

Ahh.. Still no pound down I think.. I havent weighed myself yet today. I woke up at 630 and met my girlfriends jill and lorena at squaw peak. I feel terrible today, really congested and cold. I took some cold medicine last night even though I dont like to.. We hiked it took us a little bit longer than I planned but was still fun doing it with them. I got home around 930, I woke J up and we went to the farmers market.. We are interested in becoming localvores.. meaning we try to make our diet 90% or more from locally grown food. We werent impressed with the selection or prices of food so that idea may be going out the door. You can easily get better produce at Sprouts we agreed. Plus better prices. I am tired now and need to get some rest. I dont want to get any more sick than I already am. :)
