My diet Diary (Very imaginative title! :D)

okay today was not a good day at all! I bascially just grazed my way through... It was so hectic that i didn't really have time to stop and eat. Was at work from 2pm until 9pm which meant that when i got home i was not only exhausted but also starving! Had a bowl of oats with yoghurt and a couple of strawberrys as i just couldn't face having a proper meal at this time of the night. (sigh)

Oh well... back to normally eating tomorrow i guess. I'm not working at all so hopefully i'll be able to eat something worthwhile.

Woke up late again so i didn't have time for Breakfast.

Lunch:
a large salad of rocket, watercress and cajun chicken with balsamic vinegar.
bowl of greek yoghurt, strawberries and porridge oats

Dinner:
an apple and a cupcake. :( (I was late for work and forgot that they don't give you dinner on this evening shift!)

Drinks:
2 glass of orange juice
1 pint of lemonade

Hey pinky,

Im starting out too (again ) but I know how confusing it can be with all the conflicting info out there. But, I think that its really great that eating more is a more productive way of loosing weight! This is obviously coz I love food  but also because it seems to me a more reasonable long term goal. What I mean is I couldnt live on 1000 calories a day for the rest of my life so I think its sensible to not do it now. Maybe you're different but for me cutting down too much means I'll just binge eventually and theres all the good work down the drain. Cut down some obviously but be careful not to overdo it.

Good luck!

tryingtotrim: thanks for the support. I'm generally just trying to eat a little more healthy and only eat when im hungry... Once my life gets a bit less hectic then i can start putting exercise into my day.. at the moment im not really working out as such... which is bad... coz i know that i should!

Im not going crazy with the exercise either- just trying to up my general activity levels. For me gradually building it up will probably last longer than a big burst only to get sick of the entire thing!

Sounds like youve made some big changes to your healthy eating tho- good on you!

Oh goodness i know what you mean... so many times i have started this health kick thing... working out loads in a week and then the next week im just so tierd i cant be bothered to do it... and there goes my health kick. hehe

Im focused this time though... I think after seeing how much weight i had put on i just freaked out... I've never hit 200lbs and that was just far far too close for my liking! :(

Yip, been there too! When size 18 clothes started getting tight was when I started worrying. Ive never liked my weight (well not that i can remember) and I was always gettting upset about it but never managing to do something about it. So this time enough is enough....its time for a real change.

Maybe if we pop into each others diaries we can help each other out?

I bought my first pair of 18 jeans a couple of days ago... I honestly felt like crying. They are a bit loose but im just still too big for the 16... and what with work and such... i need to be comfortable!

I've already started popping into your diary. :)

I keep tellling myself that im not on a diet im on a health change... which means that if i want a peice of chocolate then ill have it! Just not the whole bar. hehe

I got to work in about an hour or so... i really really can't be bothered! Worked from 6pm until 3am behind the bar for a wedding and i'm pretty much doing the same today but at a different place... plus the difference is we are starting at 2:30pm and finishing around 1:30am! ahh i can't wait until i find a 9-5 job.

Gosh that was v little! Were you not starving?!? Being busy does have an effect tho- when Im sitting round the house all day with nothing to do Im way more likely to have bad snacks. But I suppose we gotta make sure we eat enough too (not that Im likely to not eat enough !).

Have good day today!

by the time it got to dinner time i was pretty hungry... I'm beginning to understand why people are telling me to eat a little more calories... I weighed myself this morning and it says i've put on 2lbs... Which i presume was my body saying 'Horray!' at the dinner i had. *sigh*

I went to my grandmothers for dinner last night and she's lost over 2 stone in 2 months on Slimming World! She looks fantastic... at this rate im going to be the only fat one in the family! Although not for long eh??! I'm determined to keep my moral up!! I will NOT give up... Not Give Up!!

Caramel coffee (very bad)

Isn't this the answer though? Aren't you doing the exact same thing that has lead to failure before? Some people manage to actually get all their weight off before they go back to failure. But if you read some of the blogs of the older overweight people you'll see they've always "dieted" this way (too little cals and too much exercise) and then put all the weight back on plus more. It might be better to follow a plan you can sustain forever with some tweaking (i.e. not so extreme and desperate). You have all the time in the world to get the weight off, but whatever happens, you dont want to put it back on when you do take it off, right?

How many calories do you eat on average when you're not on a diet? What sort of foods to you usually gravitate towards when you're not dieting (both the healthy and unhealthy ones)?

 i feel a little offended by that... 'extreme and desperate.' I wasn't being extreme and desperate... I honestly believed that if i ate salads and things that it was okay, as long as i put like chicken and other things in it so that my body was getting everything that they needed.

I'm trying not to think of it as a diet... more as a health change. Like yesterday.... I wasn't scolding myself for having that pizza for dinner... or like the coffee at lunch because i knew that i would be healthy eating again the next day. Before i would have probably gone 'sod it' and carried on with my un-healthy eating.

I dunno how many calories i was eating before... probably way over 2000, but i was also doing a lot more exercise at camp then i am doing now.

All the foods i gravitate towards i haven't bought until i know i can handle them... Like chocolate and stuff like that.

Ooops Pinky, I'm so sorry for saying that. I didn't mean it like that and I must've been rushing to come off so rudely. I just asked you the number of calories you were eating to show that you don't have to cut to too low to be in a calorie deficit and get the weight off. Good job on turning down the treats, I need to take a page from your book on that one!

*shrug* it's okay... I realise that this is going to take a long time to sort of settle into. And i was being overly sensitive again... I apologise. hehe
