My Diary

Let me start out by saying that I have never kept a diary for fitness/health levels and this is a new experience for me. Thanks slimsadie for encouraging me to do so!

I am currently 195lbs and my goal is 180lbs and cut in my abs. I don't know my bodyfat % yet....I have ordered a device to calculate it. I am 45 years old so I know that it will be a little more difficult for me to get this weight off...but by lifting good, eating clean and Lipo6 I can do it!

I ate today...

Breakfast
1 grapefruit
1 cup of yogurt
bowl of bran flakes

Mid Morning
40g of whey protien shake with water

Lunch
6oz of turkey breast with swiss cheese on top

Afternoon
40g of whey protien

I just started using SuperPump 250 to increase my pumps at the gym and increase vascularity and jump up my metabolism. Today willl be my second day.

I will add my workout schedule tomorrow....it is one that I got from bodybuilding.com.

Please give me some tips to loose this last bit of weight around my waist. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks for listening!:)

Water, water, water, water, protein, carbs, etc....
Exercise, exercise, exercise, exercise
See where I'm going w/this?:D

Noway is that enough food.
Your not dieting, your staving your body. Try to control your weight thru exercise rather than extreme diets like this.
Your not even gettng any carbs.

YOU HAVEN'T EVEN HAD ANY VEGGYS!!!!!!

Your a big guy, so it will be easy for you to loose weight. but if your not loosing weight when your diet is good, then you need to look at the exercises ur doing.

Make sure your getting...
lots of fruit and veg.
3 portions of low fat protien.
3 portions of carbs
oils from fish, nuts.
.... every day

What are the best sources of carbs....It just worries me that it will go straight to my middle. I am lifting 5 days per week. What about cardio...what do you suggest? I do also eat lots of peanuts and take fish oil. Thanks so much for the advice.

dont take fish oil, just eat fish. dont eat peanuts, they are the worst for getting fat. hazel nuts, almonds, brazils etc... roasted is fine, but they should not be flavoured or salted.

best for carbs, brown bread with wholegrain seeds, brown rice, freash pasta, sweet potato. anything in moderation.

a really basic way to measure how much you should eat is to use the size of your fist for a portion of protien and two fists for a portion of carbs.

you should stop with the suppliments. you need to know what your doing on your own without this extra aid. You may mentally start to depend on them when in fact your doing all the work and there not helping at all.
you should only start to take suppliments when you have tryed your best and stopped making gains.

yeah I agree. I don't even eat "that much" but I eat more than that and I'm a girl a lot smaller than you! For a guy your size you will be able to get away with WAY more food and lose weight. Depend on good carbs, things like sweet potatoes, oatmeal and rice are fine at the beginning of the day but leave it to leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower etc at the end of the day. non starchy. You'll wake up feeling all cleaned out :)
At least you are eating frequently, thats great. Now just try and eat more (protein and carb at each meal, only essential fats) and drink lots of water.

actually I do eat oatmeal most mornings....I will lay off the unsalted peanuts and go to the others..

Are there any other veggies that are good....can't stand broccolli or cauliflower...:( I do eat salad though

I will start with more carbs. Thanks again for the great suggestions!

oh heck yeah, there are tons of veggies. Sky is the limit. The majority of veggies are non-starchy. Carrots corn and peas are starchy so those aren't super great late in the day if you're trying to cut fat (but not BAD either) Salad is fine but not very nutritionally dense. If you eat it go for the darker leaves like romaine or spinach or a mixture. squash is good-green or yellow, artichokes, bell peppers, mushrooms, celery etc. Anything to get in veggies. You can make a homemade dip of hummus or something else to dip them in if that encourages you to eat them, stir fry them with lean protein or make a low sodium broth to make veggie soup. There are countless ways. I'm sure the recipe section of this site has some suggestions too. I've never wandered in there though.
Other nuts are good. just keep track of them. Its easy to eat wayyyy too many of them which will stall your progress too. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the info sparrow...I will do that. I guess that right now I am nutritionally duh....haha. Thanks also for the website She. I will definitely take note of the nuts...I eat lots of them at night especially thinking they were a good snack. That is when I get so hungry...around 10pm

LOL Slim.. me too. thats just about all the veggie I eat. haha
Scolew nuts ARE a good snack, just so you know :)
Looks like you've done a good job thus far being "nutritionally duh" :D You're doing well, don't worry, we were all a little "nutritionally duh" at one time or another. that's why we're here!
