my diary: my road to BUD/S

been working at it for a while. started out from scratch not working out at all.
started 2mi mon/wed/fri at 8:30 pace week 1 &2
week 1= 4x15 pushups, 4x20 situps, 3x3 pullups alternating sets m/w/f
week2= 5x20 p.u. 5x20 s.u., 3x3 pullups m/w/f
week3 no running due to risk of stress injuries
week3,4 5x25 p.u. 5x25 s.u. 3x4 pullups m/w/f
week 4 running= 3mi day 8:30 pace m/w/f
week5 running= 2/3/4/2 m/t/t/f times 16:09/27:30/32:57/ got stomach flu
missed 1 week of training.

picking up on week 5 today.
running = 2/3/4/2(m/t/w/f) will update accordnigly
week5=6x25 p.u. 6x25 s.u. 2x8 pullups
swimming
450mtrs or 500yrds
12apr=12:43
16apr=12:02
4may=11:31
7may=11:50
9may=11:18


7may= 450mtr swm in 11:50
1 1/2 mi in 12:47
6x25 p.u.6x25 s.u 2x 8 pullups.
2mile run tonight 7pm

my goal is:
500yrd swim in <12:30
10min break
max pushups in 2 mins. min of 42
2 min rest
max situps in 2 mins. min of 50
2 min rest
max pullups no time limit. min of 6
10 min break
1 1/2 mile run in boots and utility(camoflauge) pants in <11:30 shooting for under 10:50

tonights run was 2 miles time was 19 minutes.

i think i did pretty good considering i went for another go in the pool 500 mtrs right before i ran.

my lower back is where i felt the most fatigue.
 
tonights run was 3 miles. time was 30:44 3 minutes slower than my last 3mile. i was pushing my son in his jogging stroller dont know if that makes that big of a difference.

the 1st 1 1/2 -2miles had a good pace. then my ITB band started bothering me i slowed a little.
 
today was my no run do so i swam my 450 mtrs in 11:18 time is steadily going down. i just need my run to do the same.

6x25 P.U.
6x25 S.U.
2x8 pullups

4mile run in 32:40 sun was beeming 90 degrees pushing the jogging stroller. the road is 4mi. i run on the sidewalk it has some ups and downs nothign major and alot of curves.
 
Damn, that's some great progress, congrats!

it sure is i was shocked. i ran 3mi thurs and 4mi fri

I was told the best way to get time off is to double your distance. but i have just been running the BUD/S workout. catagory 1

im very curious now as to what my 1 1/2 is i was supposed to take my screening test on thrusday but told them i wansnt sure since my run times were not passing but now inlight of this new time. i may be just under my reqired time. tomorrow is a 2mi. day again. so i will time my 1 1/2 and see where im at.
 
ran a mock screening test on myself today.

450mtr swim sidestroke. today =11:11
10min rest
min of 42 pushups in to mins. today = 70
2min rest
min of 50 situps in 2 mins. today =75
2min rest
min of 6 pullups no timelimit. today=10
10min rest
1 1/2 mi. run in 11:30 or faster in boots amd pants. today=10:25 in trail shoes.

almost ready to take the test im pretty sure i could pass but i want to be possitive.

my side stroke on my left side totally sucks right side super strong left horrible. i think i trained on my dominant side too much because when im on my weak side but body still acts like im on my strong side. i have to stop and think about it inbetween every stroke.
 
have PST test on monday so im taking it easy intil then let my muscles rebuild all the way. swam today 20 minutes no real laps, just swam to be inteh water and keep my body working worked on CSS a little. it seams faster but i cant keep it going long enough to see.

went for another swim workin in my CSS i need ot work on that if i get consistant ill shave 2mins off my swim easy.

plan on focusing on my running for the next2 weeks
2miles a day 6days a week in my boots and pants or atleast boots for now well see about the pants at the end of the week. hopefully thaat will get my time under that 11:30 wire. for my 1 1/2mi
 
i swam 350 mtrs no time just working on my stroke about 45 minutes before i ran. i dont know how that woudl affect my time i think my body would have recoverd by then.

1 1/2 mi. run tonight in boots and pants time=12:30
I slowed my pace on the 1st mile to have more energy towards on the last 1/2mi. i had more energy but my time stayed the same, i felt a little more comfortable with the boots today.

tomorrow i will try a 2 mi. and pick up the pace for the 1st 1 1/2 mi.see if i can get my time down i think my legs are getting used to the running with boots i feel if i keep up what im doing that minute will come off very fast.
