My Dad has Anemia

Guys. I never could myself as the type as asking others to pray for me or for someone else, but I'd appreciate if you wished my dad good luck.

He is 44 years old, and has been diagnosed with some type of anemia. ( very low red blood cell count )
Tommorow my parents will be going to a specialist to find out what type of anemia it is, and I pray that it isn't a serious incurable form of it.

I heard that it was in his genes ( which means its probably in mines ) and that they will be giving him medication for 4 weeks, if that doesn't work they will have to take all the blood out of his body and replace it.
 
My dad has lymphoma which is low blood count. Doctors said three years ago they didnt know how long he was going to live could be months could be years. Good luck with the old man.
 
Sorry to hear that phate, i wish him all the best. Please keep us posted if you don't mind. But don't worry, wait to see what happens and what the doctor is gonna say. You are a strong lad, that's genetic as well you know
 
I'm sorry to hear that about your dad, Phate.

Keep in mind there are over 400 different types of anemia. I'm certainly praying for the best case scenario.

My prayers are with your dad this evening. And I don't know whether or not you celebrate Ramadan, but if you do, Ramadan kareem.
 
I will be sure to say a prayer for your Dad Phate. It sucks seeing a loved one go through something like that. I'm sure its not going to be serious and it will be controlled with meds.

Be sure to say something to your doc next time you go.

Hi, Phate--sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sure the doctors will be able to devise a good treatment plan for him, and he'll wind up feeling much better than he has been while he's been ill. I'm praying for you and your family!

Hey Phate,

My MIL has anemia, and my dad had it. It can be very treatable. Both went thru the blood transfusions and both did well afterwards. My best to your dad and family. My good thoughts are on the way...... :)
 
my dad had it too and he was treated as well. as long as your dad keeps on top of it, he should be fine. my dad used to get injections of b12 and some other stuff they use for cancer patients to keep his blood count up. i believe he also used to take iron.
 
A few months ago I posted a thread about my mom might having heart failure and they found it it was amnemia. Your father will have to take medication everyday like my mother; but if he does that he should be fine.

Note, however, that there are numerous conditions that could cause anemia, and the treatment differs for each one.
 
Thanks guys. My dad will be leaving to the specialist soon and I will keep this thread updated. Glad to hear that it can be treated with medication.

His was caused by an infection i believe, but not 100% certain.
 
There are over 400 types of anemia, so there are many possibilities. But not very many forms are inherited.

Good luck, Phate. I have an idea as to what your dad has, but I'm keeping quiet. Are you sure your dad has a genetic marker for his anemia?
