My Big (But Shrinking!) Butt

Okay, so this is me. *waves* For years I was 140lbs. and then I had my son. Weight ballooned up to 175lbs. Never really exercised, or watched food intake (and hoo boy, do I love food). Then I had a difficult pregnancy with my daughter and afterwards, I weighed 211lbs. Sop hubby and I bonded together to become more healthy. Short story version: Got down to a muscular 173lbs., then made the mistake of visiting family out of state for Thanksgiving. The pounds came back...and they brought friends. *insert shriek of terror here*

I hit 245lbs. (at 5'4") and said, "No more!" Hubby and I began exercising 5 days a week, counting calories (I cut mine from 3800 a day to 1600 a day), and in the first week, I lost three pounds! Today was my second week weigh in. No pounds lost (but I did flounce on my water intake this week--won't do that again!), but I measured my waist and see that in two weeks, my waist has dropped 3 1/2 inches!

I'm here because if someone else reads about my journey, maybe it'll make it easier to keep going. :)

Hey hon, good luck with the weight loss. I think its great that you and your hubby are doing it together. It's much better when you have someone who's willing to work with you and not against you. I'll keep an eye out for more entries!

Heather welcome.
I tried and tried but something about getting on here and spilling your guts to strangers that has really helped. I guess you see your not alone. It's good your husband in with you on this. If my kids ask me to make them some ooie gooey chocolate cupcakes while I'm in the middle of a salad again I'll : censored :

Welcome again.

Hi Heather,

great job with the eating plan. keep up the good work and you'll see more good results to come!

Hi Heather - welcome to the forum! I stalk this place for about a week before I decided to take the plunge and become an active participant. It's great that you and the hubby are supporting each other, too. It's always nice to have someone to discus ideas and celebrate with. Good Luck!! :D:D

Thanks, guys! I just keep telling myself that this is it--a lifelong commitment to a healthy lifestyle. And I'm not ruling out my favorite foods...but it's amazing how easily seeing those calories can persuade me to eat healthier. :D

Heather, I just checked out your blog...you write? You're having a book published? That's awesome! I'll have to tell my friend the librarian here to put it on her wish list for next summer!

Yep! Awww, that would be so cool! :)

You'd be amazed how much the thought of being in public more can push a person to get fit.

Congrats on the Book! and good luck with your weightloss. It is great that you and your husband are doing it together :)

I read your blog, and I must admit, I love the movie "The Lost Boys" as well!

You guys are awesome. :D Thanks so much. I'm really excited that my dream of being a debut author is finally coming true. I'm so happy in every aspect of my life but the geez-I'm-fat one. But...one day at a time!

*dances* Oh yeah..I'm bad....just stepped on the scale for my weekly weigh-in. I'm down three pounds!!! So that's six pounds in three weeks!

And my doctor said cutting down to 1,600 wouldn't be enough to lose weight.

Still exercising solidly, counting everything that touches my lips (except weekends..I take those off), and drinking water by the gallons. Size 14 pants, here I come! :D
