<edit> adding some new before and after pictures along with a couple shameless flexing poses! :D

Hey everyone. I've been more or less a board lurker for the past year now, drawing inspiration from everyone, but never actually posting anything useful. Here is my before and after collage that I've been working on. I have to admit the amount of excess skin I have is rather daunting... I already talked to my doctor and he said the skin isn't going to stretch back anymore and that I can talk to a plastic surgeon whenever I feel ready. I'm shopping around for a plastic surgeon as I speak, but I'm not sure when I'm actually going to get to get the skin removed. Probably around summer time....

but anyways, without further adieu:

Age: 24
Height: 5'9"
Starting weight: 315 (nov 07)
Ending weight: 169 (feb 09)

1st off congrats on all your progess. That is alot of weight you lost. I know when Im done my stomach will look like a deflated balloon so I have already discussed taking about removing the skin/tummy tuck. I hope you find the perfect surgeon. Good Luck to you.

thats great man, so whats your secret, how did you do it?

im at the very start of my weightloss and am at the moment exercising as much as possible and eating better, what did you do?

Wow you look amazing! You look so muscular now. And after seeing your after pics I actually felt relieved. I gain all my weight around the middle and I'm so worried about having tons of loose skin but yours isn't that bad at all. If I look that good when I'm done without surgery I'll be ecstatic. But it's obvious you work out so that had to help. Again you look really amazing. So has your mind caught up with you having a hot bod yet? I can't wait to see how that feels, lol Great job :) ~Lisa

But anyways, I am 5'9".

I didn't get gastric bypass surgery or anything... it was all just grit and determination. The only way I can explain it was like a lifestyle change. The night I decided to start losing weight I tore down all the posters in my room, rearranged the furniture in my room to something different, bought some new clothes, stopped watching TV, stopped playing videogames and started listening to completely different music... all the stuff I used to do before was my 'fat lifestyle'.

I started out by exercising on the elliptical every day for an hour at cardio rate and limiting the amount of food I ate. It wasn't until the summer, when inspired by my success I started to actually 'count calories' in which case my diet started to get a little unhealthy... Needless to say I experienced a TON of plateaus... they hurt... I know... I was eating exactly 1500 calories a day, along with jogging 1 hour, and doing 5 hours of manual labor.... looking back I should have eaten a lot more than I did, but I doubt I could have convinced myself of that back then. By that time I got a heavy manual labor job which gave me another 'workout' session and paid me to do it too! With the success I was having I could have done the work for free! Around August I started to lift weights everyday, but now that I no longer diet, I just let my job do the muscle training for me and I try to eat as much protein as I can to supplement it.

I ended my diet at the beginning of January after I came to the realization that those 'pockets of fat' trapped in loose skin were really just 'pockets of skin'. Everyone tells me that I look good, but still I can't stand having all this skin on me... I have to get it off as soon as possible!

hey you look great, you are about close to my height and age almost the exact weight I dropped, Congrats its a hard rode having to live a completely different life. The excess skin is unfortunately something you will have to live with unless you get surgery...

Congrats nice to see another weight and lifestyle change!!

You look amazing. It's said so much on here but, wow. If this isn't motivation then nothing is.

Awesome work!

That is almost genius! Talk about a reset button! Man that is just awesome and I swear I'd give you a high five if you were in the same room as me right now. Congratulations!

I'm curious, what music do you listen to now? :D

I'm curious, what music do you listen to now? :D

I had a friend who has always been into Nine Inch Nails and he had given me all his music in the hopes that I would get into it as well, but it never really caught on to me. By the time I was in the market for new music I had started to get into industrial music in general and NIN just kind of clicked.... I've been hooked ever since.

Well you look awesome! Like a totally different person... you must feel amazing!
Nothing wrong with some shameless flexing... lol... you've earned it! Best Of Luck with your upcoming surgery :)

I came here looking for some insparation and you have definatly inspired me. You look fantastic!
I hear what you are saying about the loose skin but try not to let it get you down too much as it doesn't stop you from looking great.

Well done on your amazing transformation and thank you for motivating me!
