my 90 day challenge

i have always been overweight but i used to lift weights to go with it, in high school i maxed my bench at 300lbs exactly

im 5'9....at that time i weighed 246 lbs


i went on a weight loss journed after high school and got down to about 220 lbs.....that was 2 or 3 years ago.....i stayed around 220 for a long time

10 days ago i decided to make a change..i had been living off fast food (my diet would make you guys sick to your stomachs) and junk food/soda pop

this is unacceptable...


in 10 days im of to a good start (in my opinion).....i have completely cut out all soda pop, all fast food, and nearly all junk food.....i have been eating eggs, protein shakes (i understand these are protein filled i would like a better body not just to lose fat), alot of fruit and vegetables, and lean cuisine type of meals....i drink alot of water....atleast 100 oz a day now but i know not to over do it

the worse thing i eat now is lean pockets which i know probably arent that great but its the closest thing to junk food i have

anyways, as of right now i weight 203 lbs.....so i have lost about 17 lbs in 10 days....i KNOW that when you lose weight the weight just falls off for a week of 2 then its a whole different story, i am ready for that

now i wont lie, i havent done too much cardio at all which i know i need to....the only reason is because its so cold here still and its hard to get out and run or ride my bike (something i love doing)

i have done some cardio in my house, along with alot of pushups

i have set a goal to get to 185 lbs by may 1st which i dont think is unrealistic at all

i have not cheated on my diet at all....i have been tempted and feel like i might need to get a burger between now and then but will make up for it

is there anything you all suggest for me? my job is not very physical, i drive a forklift and a yard tractor (basically a truck driver) so im not doing too much physically

im not looking to get ripped necessarily just to have a decent body and to be healthier

by the way i cant afford a gym membership right now money is extremely tight....and if i get some responses to this ill definitely update my photos......that might help motivate me

also, even though i have lost 15+ pounds, i dont see any difference in my body yet.....i know theres water weight or whatever, and honestly i feel my clothes fit looser but i dont think its very visible yet.....i need to lose my gut and love handles

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? yes right after high school i lost about 25 lbs...cutting calories and drinking alot of water plus steady cardio and weight training is what i did
10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? i got lazy and stayed the same weight for over a year
11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? none
12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? yea it will be a pain in the ass but worth it
13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? i now cook more grilled chicken (small portions) and eggs...i love eggs
14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? before i started dieting recently i was eating out almost every day....mostly fast food
15. What are your three favorite foods? That's comparable to picking a favorite child for some people. cheeseburgers, fried chicken and pizza (terrible)
16. What are your three favorite restaurants? popeyes chicken, hardees, kfc
17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? 1. NO MORE FAST FOOD! 2. NO MORE POP! 3. cook my own food

25. What do you normally eat for a meal? i was eating mostly fast food and TV dinners now i have been cooking my own meals, grilled chicken steamed vegetables and fruit, eggs yogurt healthy stuff now
26. What type of snacks do you eat? before i was eating things like chips, candy and fruit
27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? honestly not running yet because its freezing outside.....will start running and biking soon...i have been doing in home cardio and alot of push ups, plus lifting i have an olympic bench
28. Where do you go for exercise? my house and the neighborhood
29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? riding my bike, lifting freeweights and basketball
30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? thinking about how much better i will look and feel after i lose weight is my main motivation
31. Do you have rewards for certain goals? this sounds bad and it probably is but i plan to get a bigass cheeseburger from hardees after my 3 months is up

i have stuck to my diet so far but havent been able to work or exercise for 4 days, i have a bad virus that put me in the hospital today

cant wait to get over this damn thing and get back out there
 
Sorry to hear about the virus. I know I just got over a bad cold last week. It really puts a kink in the system when your trying to lose weight.

Hope you get over it soon.
 
im finally getting over this virus....still not done much exercise but finally able to get back to work tonight

this weekend im gettin a squat rack cage to add to my olympic bench i have....plus i will start running HIIT this weekend
 
finally got to actually go out and start my HIIT sprints today.....still not feelin great but im almost there

kicked my ass, did 6 reps of 20-25 second sprints about 1 minute between

plus still stickin to the diet, got a new big bag of grilled chicken thats .5 g of fat 90 calories and 23 g of protein
 
I am glad your feeling a it better :) it looks like your off to a good start.

you might get a little more support in your journal if you introduce yourself to others in their journals :)

I know its hard to work out when sick. My main problem isn't working out its being stuck in a hospital with no exercise equipment to do things. Getting some support always seems to boost my spirits so i figured i would stop by your diary. Hope you are back to full swing come monday and are able to really start working out again. Oh yeah congrats on your weight loss so far. good luck on your continued success.
 
HI Joedog!. you seem to know what you want i dont think your going to have a problem what so ever. i seen the pic and you dont look like you have too much to lose just tone and you will look hot. just tell your self you are doing this for your self, not only will you look good but you will be healthy. goodluck and congrats on th eweight lost so far.

lol, i always drink alot of water

even though ive lost around 23 lbs you still cant tell i dont think.....but im not gonna quit, im tired of bein fat!

well just stoppin by to say im about to go out running, gonna get some HIIT in and if its as nice as yesterday ill be playin basketball and riding bikes later
 
well 2 weeks in now......i took new pics today

ive lost 23 lbs in 2 weeks, most of them was because i was sick and couldnt eat hardly at all or exercise for over a week

so heres the pics, 23 lbs lighter with the exact same body

well today at work i started feeling really discouraged....ready to quit. im not even sure where it came from

i was just thinkin "why should i go through with this? im under 200 lbs now, i can start eating fast food just not as much and keep myself under 200 lbs"

thats not what my mind wants, but its what my body wants...i love fast food and ate way to much of it over the years

on my drive home i really wanted white castle.....i quit all junk food including pop and fast food and anything thats unhealthy completely cold turkey about 3 weeks ago...today i folded, i went to white castle, ate the number 1 which is 4 mini burgers with fries and a pop

i feel really guilty for it but at the same time kinda glad i did it, i kinda got the craving out of my system for a while

i have heard from many people its not bad if u cheat one meal every 2 weeks.....i didnt want to cheat but i finally gave in:(
 
i have been pretty discouraged over the last few days

im disappointed in myself but im just trying to get back on track
