Muscle Proportions

Hi.

Apologies if this has been touched on before, I tried doing a search first but I must've done something wrong because I was getting no results and/or errors returned.

I am interested in the ideal proportions for the average joe, in terms of a weight : body-mass ratio. For instance, I weigh 70kg and I can lift 25kg for about 8 reps on a military press, which is a ratio of 1 : 0.36.

Is there a rough guide of what you should aim for, even roughly?

Any useful information, general advice or vicious criticism will be appreciated! :)

Plus you have to define what 'ideal' means. That's very subjective, because in my mind ideal would mean the absolute most weight lifted by someone of a specific weight. Therefore you'd take the powerlifting world records for each body weight and use those numbers. Here's a of some of those numbers.

Perhaps you're trying to find the 'average' instead?

Yeah, average. Sorry, bad use of English!

Thanks for the table, but it's not really what I'm looking for. Never mind, I'll find something.

Cheers all.

I have heard various rules of thumb over the years:
1. 10 handstand pushups
2. 12 wide grip pullups or 6 wide grip pullups with 20% of your body weight added
3. 15 chin ups
4. bench press your body weight for 10 reps
5. 1 RM squat and deadlift 2x your body weight
6. 10 dips with 20% of your body weight added
