muscle and weight loss

I am 5'10, 173lbs and am trying to lose 10lbs and gian muslce and cuts at the same time. I am gettting really frustrated becuase when i lose 2 lbs and the next day i weight lift i gian the 2 lbs back. It seems as if im not going nowhere with this. Is it possible to work out and lose weight at the same time? I am also taking whey protien taking 80g protien a day. Any advice on what i should do first or can i do both and do it in 2 months( i kinda made a bet with a freind that i can drop to 163 in 2 months) But i just dont wanna be skinny..... YOu know what i mean?? oh i also do cardio on the day i rest from lifting weights. And eat 1500 cal a day, 30g fat, 150g carbs, 80g protien a day.

It's damn near impossible to gain muscle and lose weight at the same time, it's much easier to lose the weight after bulking. Scales fluctuate also, they may be reliable, but not valid, also water weight has a lot to do with it. It's very unlikely that you gain two pounds in one day if you're only eating 1500 calories.

How often do you lift and what do you do? What does your cardio look like also? I'm sure you know your diet is probably the most important thing too, I would say to cut back on the whey some and substitute it with some "regular food" because the whey digests differently.

If you aren't doing HIIT for your cardio, it would be great for fat loss, at any rate, back to the questions about your lifting routine..and cardio??

It is possible to lose the weight though, I lost 12 pounds in less than a month a while back, so it can be done.

By the way, if you were to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, your weight could remain constant. Your body composition would be changing, but you wouldn't know just by looking at the scale.

I heard that if ur seriously obese at the max you can lose a healthy 3 lbs a week, well thats 3lbs of fat and help me out here how would someone lose weight after bulking? Im starting to get pretty big with the weights still a big kid tho :(

ok maybe i should slow down on the why protien. Hmm my work out is

Lower bench press: 140lbsx10x 5
curl(1hand) : 25lbsx 25x 5
trycepts:25 lbsx 25x5

i would do more but i sprained both my sholders and it hurts. for cardio i do:

run 3 miles
do couple hundred jump rope
and do sit-ups, crunches every day about 100

im berely starting after resting for a good 3 months so im taking this lightly on the weight lifting imma increase alot later.

so should i just do cardio untill i hit 163lbs then start my weight lifting? or i continue doing what i do now with my diet.

well, you should be doing cardio, but you dont have to cut weights out completely. you could do lighter weights and higher reps, for muscle definition and endurance. as for building bigger muscles, you should prolly make a firm desicion between, slimming down or bulking up. and either way make sure you get protein and all your vitamins. (wow i sound like my mother, lol)

You weigh 173 lol 10lbs seems like an ez drop for me heh. Just lift and maintain your muscle then lose weight. Or just bulk up and ur metabo will speed up and therefore makin it ezier to lose weight.

bulking is mainly about what you are eating, and of course you should be lifting at the same time, too lose, it is mainly about eating "cleaner" and still lifting with the same intensity...cardio is a factor too, but thats a whole other story

You really have to be doing much..much more than that, ie: your entire body. Of course, depending on your shoulder, which if it is bad you shouldnt be lifting and go get it checked out, you should have a lot more diversity to your routine, legs, back, shoulders, chest....

Vary up your cardio more, don't do the same thing all of the time, don't stic to crunches all of the time either, try leg raises, planks, other core exercises and the like

Bulking means eating? help me out here so if I want to lose weight what would I do? Lift and get big and then try to lose weight or??

So all your protein comes from whey, that doesnt make sense. Maybe your calorie count is wrong also. Go to the website below and open an account. Burn more calories than you take in. Do something like squats and deadlifts. You can do shoulder workouts, but do REALLY light weight. Work on slowly strengthening them. Even if you lose the bet, you'll be in better shape in the end.

chop off your left arm. That easily weighs 10lbs.

Bet won!
