Hello Everyone

I am new here thought I should start a diary of my own.Everytime I say I am dieting but I just can not..I am unable to control my diet :( will upload my present pics and get started on a quest for a bikini body- I want to be fit,look good and have loads of self confidence which I lack now :(

will post my stats tomorrow.. I really have to lose weight..

Planning for the d-day to start

Im starting my diet plan tomorrow .Havent been to the gym at all :( and no exercise either .. I've been busy at work which isnt helping.

thought i'd make a check list of what i shouldnt eat (I really need to cotrol my diet!! )

1) no chocolates
2)No pastries
3)No oily stuff
4)Limit carbs to a minimum
5)No sodas
6)no sweets

Next is my exercise regimen that I intend to follow from sunday

1)40 minutes on the threadmill
2)15 minutes on the cycle
3)15 minutes on the elipticial
4)stretches
5)lots of upper n lower ab crunches (a must)
6)some leg exercises if im not too tired

im gonna concentrate on more of cardio now and gota get back in shape soon..i need all the motivation and the determination..

I am new to the forum too, but you sound really motivated and by your pictures and what you have planned, you will be where you want in no time.

You will lose fat faster by building muscle. Is there a way to add resistance training (weights) to your plan?
 
Hey frankie! thanks for ths support :) i got some house hold chores to do like cleaning and stuff like that (my wardribe is a mess- the clothes are falling off when I open it grrr :cuss:)

my mum bought some fruits and there's cauliflower in the fridge so im gonna have that for lunch..

im planning to go to the gym today- i have to check how much i weigh (and i hope i dont get a heart attack) will post my measurements once im back from the gym..

Amba..yeah i do weights too (this time i plan to be regular to the gym) I want to do more of cardio and then tone by big time

Question: Do I lose inches first or lose weight first?Im confused

Nothing says you can't do both. They go hand in hand, usually. When weight drops, inches do too. Occasionally, you'll build enough muscle that your weight stays the same, but inches are gone. No often, though.

I do not understand the philosophy of doing lots of cardio to drop weight and then adding in weights to tone. Isn't it easier to do weights and cardio the whole time, drop weight and ALREADY be toned beneath?

I saw you posting in Amber's diary. I am a PCOS lady too. Looking at your photos I think that you are being very sensible to diet while you are only slightly overweight. A lot of PCOS ladies get to be very big.

Omega: Your right about PCOS. I have to deal with acne with is so bad :( i was on diane but im off it now for 2 months and my skin is breaking out :( Will be seeing a dermatologist in 2 weeks and I hope there's a cure out there for me..

Anyways I've started goin to the gym.

Stick it out with the gym. It can be hard to go (so much so i don't even go but i have weights at home) but when i use to box i loved it. It's one of those things the more you do the more you enjoy it i think.

PCOS is a real pain. When my specialist told me that I was a PCOS lady - he said "life is not fair for PCOS ladies". For me that just about sums it up. If you are anything like me - just about everything that you dont like about yourself is caused by PCOS. It is easy to get self-esteem problems when your body is stuffed because your hormones are effectively at war with you.

I am 5 ft 3 inches too.

I think that for you - losing a comparitive small amount of weight - maybe just 4 kg - will help the PCOS to behave itself as much as possible - and then your biggest task will be to keep it off. I am sure that if you are vigilent with your diet and try not to eat chocolate and sweets - that will help the acne. I think I saw on television that fizzy drinks can cause similar skin problems so it is probably worth trying to go without them too for a while. People are much better off drinking water.

Your ex boyfriend sounds like a :piggy: and you are much better off without him. No boyfriend worth spending time with would act in that manner. Wonderful people come in all sorts of packages - and when he grows up he might just learn that.

Going to the gym was a good move.:hurray:

Eating ice cream was not. :(

We all do good and bad things. The secret is to try and do more of the good things.

I woke up late yesterday(I live in the east so my day starts earlier )

anyways I missed gym yesterday.I work for an IT company and got to sit long hours on the computer :( so that explains my big ass .. I was so guilty last night and I couldnt sleep either .I finally fell asleep around 12:20am and woke up at 6am .I went to the gym at 6:45am (I kept 5 alarms to wake me up on my cell phone!! woke up when the third one went off hehe )

When I slept late at night I was wondering if I would be able to get up early for gym..

I felt so heavy but I forced myself to be on the threadmill for 40 minutes and I did 20 minutes of eliptical and 5 minutes of cycle. (that was all I could do as I was getting late for work)

For someone who found excuses to skip gym, I think today was a good start.I love to run on the threadmill but Im not going to push myself this week.I am going to make my body realise it has to get up early to gym and then gain a bit of stamina and then start running and doing some kick ass exercises next week :)

my skin sucks coz of acne-it isnt that bad but i have a few scars..I used to have glowy skin when I was on diane .. cant wait to see the skin doc

its almost 12pm now and I feel so fresh :)

my mum goes to the gym too and has lost 9 kgs! she used to be 86kgs and now she is 76kgs :) she goes to the gym regularly and I will put my before pics where I used to be thinner soon (my comp at home isnt working :( ) I bought a lovely knit top from guess (there's a dent on my credit card now hehe) I tried on a 30 size low waist jeans at Guess and it dint fit :( I have some lovely clothes that I cant wear anymore coz it doesnt fit :( oh well I'll have to be regular to the gym from now on

Omega: Your right ..and my hormones suck ... thanks to PCOS.I dont have facial hair and stuff like that,My problem is more to do with acne.. People first look at your face than at your body and I have been hiding at home coz of my acne :( ..Margaret ...thanks so much for the support..Its so nice of you to drop by and say nice things.I feel happy and motivated!! *hugs* i got lot of work now to do (am at work now) will update tomorrow ,take care

I really encourage you to keep on top of your weight loss project. When I first got PCOS (I was retrospectively diagnosed at a later stage so at the time I had no idea what was happening) I had problems with my skin. I had like a rosacea rash on both cheeks and I had to wear a thick concealer to try and disguise it - I seem to remember that I really liked a product "Rose Laird Concealer Cream" I think that it was called. That was back in the 1980s - but the range may still be on the market. I felt that it did a great job of covering up the rash and used to get it ordered in in one of the stores in the city where I lived.

Anyway at that time my weight was not much higher than it had been - about your weight actually. Then I started putting on a lot of weight - vast quantities - and the acne rosacea cleared up but facial hair started big-time. I initially had to have electrolysis twice a week it was so bad.

Then I got hair on my body too - which makes things even worse.

If I had managed to get my weight down when I was your size maybe the facial hair thing would have never started - and possibly the rosacea would have improved.

If that doesnt motivate you to try and take off the 4 kg - nothing will. I wish that someone had told me that when I was your size.

Well done for going to the gym. :hurray: Little steps are all it takes.

Dont worry about your weight going up slightly - everyone's weight fluctuates from one day to the next. The important thing is to be good with your food and exercise and watch the trend of your weight. You can see how things vary for us all by looking in at the weigh every day club. I weigh every day - but it certainly doesnt suit everyone. You will see there that my weight fluctuates.

Dont be surprised about your mother finding it easier to lose weight than you. That is almost guaranteed to be the case if she is not a PCOS lady.

You say that you work for an IT company. I used to work in IT.

I went to the gym at 7am..Woke up late.I want to get up early so I can do more at the gym.I have to go be at work by 11:30am anyways

I did 40 minutes of eliptical
20 minutes of cycle

total calories burnt 140

today's weight 58.68 :(

got loads of work at office now .. :( im glued to my chair

Thanks so much for the support and advice :) I had no idea PCOS would do all that to a person. I dont use any make up nowadays (scaring everyone now haha) but im hiding at home - not meeting friends - clothes dont fit- things like that can be depressing...

anyways
yeah my mom isnt a PCOS lady.. Oh well i'll check out the weigh every day club now.. do u still work in IT?

PCOS is really horrible and can often bring infertility and can make you more likely to get a whole load of nasty health problems. You have so much to gain by taking control now. You will have to work extra hard to lose weight compared to a lot of girls your size - but you have such a lot to gain by doing so. Then all you will have to do is monitor your weight to stay that size.

What kind of job in IT do you do? Do you enjoy it?

I dont currently work in IT. I did for a long time and worked very hard when I was younger. I have a degree in Applied Computing and I have worked for a lot of companies in and around London. I spent many years as a computer contractor - they are called computer consultants in the USA. I am not currently working - I came to the conclusion that I would prefer to do other things.

This means that I have spent the past year working effectively full time on my weight loss project. I have had to throw myself into it fully to get the weight loss that I have achieved. Checking my records I have walked about 300 miles so far this month. In addition I go to classes on yoga and keep fit / aerobics each week. I am also pretty strict with my food. I have learnt over many years of trying and failing that simple diets that work for other people do not seem to get me anywhere.

You did well to do an hour of exercise at the gym. It will help. Exercise and being good with your food will get you where you want to be.

Dont hide from your friends - true friends will not even notice whether you are having a good day or a bad day from a weight loss perspective unless you tell them. We so rarely look closely at people that we care about. We have their image in our heart. If you stay focused and work hard you will get results. Then you will be able to wear the clothes that are currently a little tight. In the meantime wear a couple of items from a temporary interim wardrobe. You can buy clothes very reasonably for this and when you get back into your proper clothes you can give those interim clothes to a charity shop.

Welcome back to the forum. I havent seen you in ages and was so pleased to see a recent posting from you.
