Ever have one of those days where you wake up wanting to be bad?

I am craving a cupcake! & what makes it worse is I keep seeing cake! on TV, on a craftsite I was looking at someone was showing a special birthday cake they had made.... argh!

Might be a struggle today!

I'm off the opinion that if you are craving something, you should go ahead & eat it before your cravings get out of control, but I am trying to be so good.

I have a friend's housewarming party to go tonight & should take some food. Maybe I will have to make a batch & that way I can have one... & not ALL of them (I live alone). I wanted to take something healthy so I'd know there was something there I wouldn't hate myself later for eating.
 
Hey you can make healthy cupcakes ya know, too bad I dont have time to get hte recipe form my aunt before you need it...she is a cancer survivor so she was ona super strict diet for awhile and she made these delicious nutrious cupcakes, YUM...I am seeing her today I will ask her to email it to me...

Did you ever think you would say the words...I WANT TO BE A LOSER, LOL...sounds funny doesnt it, I am glad to hear you like the motivation here and it makes you plug along...Good for you on your food choices, even though you should have skipped it all together you did better than you have before!!! Have fun tongiht!!!
 
I'd love to see the healthy cupcake recipe if you get your hands on a copy, Cinderelly! Any way I can appease my sweet tooth in a HEALTHY way is great by me.

I ended up deciding to do them for the party. Then realized that since I had frosting, but nothing to make the actual cake part .. the part I was craving.. it was redicious. Didn't make sense to make a special trip to the store for something I really shouldn't be eating anyway. Who knows what I would walk out with! I did have a pack of brownie mix & went ahead with that to get my fix. I stuck to the correct portion size & watched lunch calories. Balance... that's my focus. I don't want to deprieve myself too much, especially early on.

Spend a good bit of time on the Spark People site & love it! Interesting the fitness plan & diet tracker (I think I might like it better than the Fitday one... time will tell.... now if only the scales will!).

Off to read some more articles & explore more information.
 
OK the brownies were a BAD idea. I had two yesterday & I know they are empty calories.

I have been tracking calories at SparkPeople & its interesting watching it all add up & it does add up fast! Stuck to my goal & didnt go over yesterday even with the browies, but all the focus on food just makes me want to eat more!

Also I have no idea how to add in some stuff. I can add up everything if I make it at home, but work is going to be a real challenge to track. I work at a health food store & we have a salad/hot bar & sandwiches that are made in house & wrapped ready to go. Its all natural organic good food with great nutritional value & no hydrogenated anything.... but I have NO CLUE what the calorie counts or fat grams or any of that is! Like today there was BBQ shredded chicken, corn on the cob, collards, who knows what all was there calorically? & the mixed fruit.... strawberries, blueberries, starfruit, mango, kiwi, etc... how do you add that into track it? Frustrating. Just makes me want to eat prepacked food all the time.

Trust me, guestimating will come easier the longer you do it. You'll begin to see what portions look like and will be able to come up with ball park figures.

In time, it will become second nature :)
 
I hope so. Who knew there would be this much to learn. I guess if I'm going to do it & change my life its all worth it in the end.

No pain, no gain (except in exercise, where you have to stop & make sure that pain isn't doing any permament damage!)

Hello Ali! I just got caught up on your diary (wanted to do it now before it got to too many pages!). You are doing so well; even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes. Some of our bad days are actually as bad as we think they are!

(And you're not alone, I was craving chocolate today and over indulged:p )
 
Moonshine- I'm glad you are here & glad I could make you laugh. They say that laughter is a great form of exercise. So if I watch a comic & laugh while on the treadmill does that count as a double workout? I'd probably just fall right off & break my leg or something.

dariqueen, glad to hear I am not alone in the cravings. I think I found something to help out. We have these Adora Chocolate Calcuim disc at work & the dark chocolate one is hitting the spot, plus one disc gives me 1/2 days worth of calcuim. So I don't feel as bad.


Ok struggle for the day.. .CAFFIENE!!! I usually start my day with a drive thru breakfast of egg & cheese on something (no meat at least but still!) & either a large tea or Dr Pepper. I have been trying to cut that out & eat at home (Special K with Red Berries & Vanilla Soymilk is actually goood!). I've been drinking water all the time. & I know I am addicted to the caffine & I can deal with the headaches... but I swear I can smell the Diet Coke that my office mate is drinking & just hearing the crushed ice move is killing me. I want one soooo badly. Luckily we don't sell any coke or pepsi or anything like that here (health food store, we have a generic bland substitute), but I can't stop thinking about the one in my fridge at home!

Funny how when you don't want to eat something, YOU CRAVE IT!

I might just do it, but its all empty calories which I am trying to focus on counting this week.

Anyway had to vent & get that out. Maybe a nice fruit juice would do it....
 
Oh man, I gave up soda back in May - I decided to switch to the leaded variety instead of diet if I wanted one - it soon became apparent that I never wanted to devote the calories to it.

After a while - you just don't miss it :)

I can pass up most, but Dr Pepper for some reason just has a pull on me.

Although I am doing SOOOOOO good today. We have a bakery & they are trying out new recipes & needing opinions! What a doozie! So far I have passed up free chocolate cherry bread, peanut butter fudge, chocolate mocha fudge & cherrie chocolate cake!!!

I think I deserve a medal!

Granted, you could also ask if your goal deserves those goodies?
Probably not ;)

I don't think i could work near a bakery or I would weigh around 500lbs or more!!! LOL Keep up the good work and soon your soda cravings will be an issue of the past!!!

Thanks you all! It has helped to know that I am not alone in this fight & the prize (a healthier & shapelier me) is what I keep thinking of.

One day at a time right!

I feel almost rewarded since when I got home I got a call from the delivery company & they are FINALLY going to deliver the treadmill tomorrow morning! I was begining to get REALLY worried about it. I dumped all my saving into that thing (my next goal in life is to learn to be better at saving money!) & I was worried that I got ripped off.

So tomorrow I will be just as strong & even get to work out, rain or shine!
 
holy crisznap. treadmill is in house & the "SIMPLE" assembly isn't so simple for this chick. Not quite looking like the pic in the manual. I think I just got a workout helping to unload & unwrapping & TRYING everything I could think of. So what was I thinking? & Why didn't I just pay for the installation? Oh yeah I couldn't afford it & the new shoes! Argh.

Why does it have to cost so much to get healthy? From food, to shoes, to equipment. Jeez. Guess I should just look at it as I am hopefully saving myself from the cost of doctors visits & medications later.

Oh well back to the pure mess that I have created. Maybe a fresh look will show me the way to get that thing up & running, so I can get up & running.

So frustrated!
