Hi all my name is Andrew I’m 38 and live in the UK

My current weight is 16 st 6.8 1b and I am 5 foot 9 . I would like to get to 12stone.
I am hoping that starting this weight loss diary will give me the jump start I need to get going along my weight loss journey. I wanted to lose about 1.5 stone but after reading some of the stories here and seeing the kind of weight loss some people are going for or have achieved I changed my mind and decided to set my sights on trying to lose all my excess weight which is about 4.5 stone.

The method I am going to use is calorie counting and going to the gym starting out run/walking.I went to the gym on Monday and Tuesday then was wiped out for two days and then went again today.I would like to have a body one day that is fit, healthy and generally feels nice to live in.So lets see what happens.

no workout but had a walk around the park and a walk around the shops in town .All good.
 
Any exercising today?? I haven't started exercising yet... Anything you recommend?

Yep,went for a walk with my daughter.
We walked 2.4 km in 30 mins
cals were 2030

Monday I went to the gym and upped the tempo a bit

I did a run/walk session 18/12 min at 8.5/6km/h and covered 3.5 km

cals were 2015
 
Missed training today had to go to the docs.

Wife and daughter are going away for a few days tomorrow.I'll have to be careful not to turn it into a munchfest being bored on my own.Hope to go training tomorrow.So far so good.
 
Oh well made it to the gym and had a really good workout as well.Wife rang to say she would be staying an extra night and will be coming home on Sunday now instead.So that will be an extra day I will have to be careful not to binge on.Why being alone affects me like this I don’t know ,but it does.

Workout
Run/walk 18/12 mins 8.5/6 km/h covering 3.5 km plus 2 km walking to and from gym in total.

I have been reading one or two of the journals and I am finding them really inspiring and a good read.Infact I’ll go back to reading some more now.Update on the cals later.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm living with family at the moment, and I find the fact that they know what i'm trying to do helps me keep my direction maintained. I feel that if I let myself down, I'll also let them down, because they'll see me as weak. That might be some convoluted form of pride or something, but hey... if it works, don't knock it!

Maybe if you get a pang of guilt you could call your wife. If she can't be there to support you in person, she can at least be in spirit... maybe that could work?

My wife rang twice today and asked how the diet and training was going.Yes it certainly helps having the support of your family.Its only when you mentioned it that I really thought about it.

The food I have been eating are things like natural yogurt with tinned peaches or strawberries,Cottage cheese with ryvitas,porridge oats,low sugar jelly,Toast with low fat philadelphia,frozen meals with veg,bananas, low cal cup-a-soups, lots of diet pepsi.

I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food and I am happy eating the same things day in day out for weeks on end.

Well it’s been a week since I started and when I weighed today I was pleased to see that I weighed 15.13.6.
So I had a loss of 7.2lbs.I am really pleased with this and I have found it quite easy with my motivation being very high(experience tells me to make the most of it while it lasts).I have lost weight in my face which is good as I like to check out my mug in the mirror from time to time;)

No training today.My knees are a little bit sore from the running,I will probably do the run/walk three times a week or every other day and do something else on the other days.
So all good so far.

Yesterday’s cals 1820

Well I made it to the gym today and had a good one.I tried to rev up the work rate by running as far as I could before I had to stop.I run for 8 mins which I was quite pleased with.I followed this up with runs of 5 mins and then 6mins with walking breaks in between.I have been looking at the C25K programme and I reckon I should be able to run 5K in one go in about four or five weeks WOOHOO.I really like running and it gives my mood a real boost which helps because I suffer with depression from time to time.

Had a good day on the diet I have had 1685 cals so far and that will probably be all I will have today.I wish I could make this diary more interesting for those of you who read it ,but the problem is that my life isn’t very interesting lol ,so its quite difficult.

Most days consist of get up,go to the gym ,come home eat,drink,go to bed.I am not working so I can’t write about that.So unless I start making stuff up it’s going to have to be mostly about running and cals lol.
Oh yeh I’m going food shopping tomorrow and I might have a sneaky mcflurry on the way home(big day for me lol)

So its all going good so far

Well I ended up not going out yesterday and spent a miserable day stuck in the house and this was reflected in my calorie intake of 2364 cals.Not great,but certainly not as bad as it would have been on a day when I felt miserable before I started this diary.Most of my overeating was done in response to emotions or feeling tired.It would of been straight to tesco and bring on the pork pies.

I made it to the gym toady and had an excellent workout.I managed to run 20 min before needing a walking break.I will need to run about 35 min without a break to make the 5k.Instead of taking walking breaks I might try reducing the speed to an even slower jog and see what happens.

Todays food

Porridge 410 cals

Cottage cheese 275 cals

Wholegrain 150 cals
Melba toast

Natural yogurt 275 cals
Tinned strawberries 160 cals

Low sugar jelly 40 cals

Tin peaches 170cals

4 hovis granary bread 350 cals
30 g extra light garlic and herbs
Cheese spread 38 cals total 1868 cals

Today’s workout walk 1min run 20 min walk 3min run 10 min walk 2 min run for 2 min

Running was done at 8.5 k/h walking at 6 k/h and I covered 5K
I was chuffed to bits with this workout and could of sworn that I looked better it in the gym changing room mirror after lol.But it was just the endorphins I'm sure as I was absolutely buzzing:willy_nilly:
