Monica's Motivation Book

Ugh...today was stressful. Well, I'll start with yesterday. OK, everyone here knows I'm a nanny right?? Like one of the most stressful jobs ever...at times. :p Anyway, yesterday we went on a playdate and the little boy I take care of-he's 3. He was in the bathroom and he decided to wash his hands by standing on top of the toilet and leaning over to the sink!!!! Of course, you know what happened--he fell! When I ran in there, he still had one foot on the toilet lid, and his head had fallen directly on the ledge to the step for the shower. OMG, I totally freaked out. When I picked him up, he had a welt the size of a golf ball on his forehead and there was a tiny cut in the center of it. I nearly peed my pants! I wanted to cry. So I comforted him and put a bag of frozen corn on the bump. It went down, I kept a VERY close eye on him to make sure his eyes weren't dilating, he didn't fall asleep, etc. Well, about an hour later, he was totally back to his normal self, besides the big black bump.

K, fast forward to last night. I had horrible insomnia. Could not fall asleep for the life of me. FINALLY I dozed off around 5:30am.

Fast forward again. 9:00am, the phone rings. I figured it was not for me so rolled over and went back to sleep. A minute later, it rings again. So I roll over again. When it rang the third time, I figured I better answer. It was my boss saying the school had phoned him, saying Jasper was not well. Please go and pick him up. Grrrr...so I hop out of the house in all my glory (hot pink pj shirt/sweatshirt, no makeup, no shower) and power walk to the school. Get there and Jasper is fine, but I decided to humor them and take him home. Gave him some Ibuprofen in case he had a headache and we continued on our day.

Fast forward. 2:00pm--I decide to leave the house an hour early for picking up my other charge from school so I can get cash out of the bank and get travelers checks since I'm flying to the States on Friday. Get to the bank, ask if I can get travelers checks there, they say they will have to be ordered. WHAT?!? How long does it take? 24-48hrs. Well, I don't have 48hrs. I will be thousands of miles in the air in 48hrs. They tell me to take cash out and go to a travel agency. Gee thanks.

Go to the ATM. It won't let me take out more than 200pounds a day. Fine. Go up to the desk, lady tells me that with my bank account, I can only take cash out through the ATM. I tell her I need more than the ATM will give me. She tells me to space it out over a few days. Again...don't have that much time people! I growl at her and tell her it's ridiculous I don't have access to my own money and walk away. Take out my 200pounds to add to the 300pounds I already have in my purse. (btw, I am NOT comfortable carrying around that much cash.) Go over to the travel agency and guess what?? They don't have any travelers checks on hand either but "our branch in Ealing would!" oh yeah, just what I want, to hop on the tube or the bus with 500pounds in my pocket.

So I go pick up Ella and we just leave. I take Jasper to the doctor, as his mom made an appointment for him...just to be safe. Doctor says he just has a virus or something. That's why he was acting funny today. His head is fine. If something were going to be wrong, it would've been wrong yesterday. Bleh...

So that's it I guess. But I think that's enough. haha Too much stress!!!

Oh well...I still managed to keep my calories down. I was on the high end of my limit, but I still stayed WITHIN my limit. So it's all good.

Now I'm going to go to bed. Cos it's 10:30pm and I only had 4 bleepin' hours of sleep last night. G'night all!

Poor Moni. What a rotten, stressful day for you. I'm sorry. :(

Well at least you did well on your calories. :)

Yeah, you are almost coming home. I bet you are excited. I saw the places you lived in Houston are near me. I'm just across the street from Cypress.

Wow, you wouldn't believe all the new development in our area.

If you have time and are in the Cypress area, go to Kilburn's, on Barker Cypress between Hwy 290 and Queenston, in front of a neighborhood called Stone Gate. Yummy food, nice atmosphere, good people.

Tell them you are a friend of Patty's. Heck, they might call me up there and we can say "Hi".

I hope your travel goes well. *hugs*

Hey Mon!
Good to see you and great to hear that you enjoyed your company so much! Friends are good, good friends are great! :)

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Wow...that was fun!"

haha Classic! I like that Patty. ;)

Well, today has actually been good in a bad kind of way. I'm so excited about tomorrow that I haven't actually eaten today! Which you know, for a moment, sounds good. But we all know it's bad. So I really need to just force myself to eat something real quick.

Hey Mon,
I know how those busy days can keep you from eating, but you're right it's bad for your metabolism. So do try to eat. Have a safe trip and congratulations on the 3 pounds!

pic I am not a morning person either.Keep up the good work and

hello all! I missed you guys while I was away...not enough to not have a good time of course! lol But every time I ate something, like EVERY time, I thought about this forum and how disappointed everyone would be if I just let myself go. It really helped me to stay on track. I didn't do like the best ever, but I didn't slip up nearly as much as i was expecting to, to be honest. The biggest downfall is that I didn't walk nearly as much as I normally do. See, in the States, I actually have the OPTION of driving and seeing as how it was raining 70% of the time I was there, driving it was. But I did do a lot of playing with my niece, so that must've burned some calories on its own. :p

I did lots of shopping and my mom and sister cooked homemade meals for me that were delicious and my family had a BBQ for me and about 30 of my friends came over and ate with us. It was really nice. Went to the movies a couple times with my mom and sis and basically just spent a lot of time with my family. Had a couple of nights out with friends, dancing and drinking. But I only did heavy drinking ONE night out of the whole two weeks!!! (((This is me being proud of myself :D ))) In fact, I even turned down alcohol on a couple of occasions cos the calories just weren't worth it to me.

Everyone said I seem different, which I had already figured out on my own...but it was still nice to hear it from other people. Anyway, the trip was a huge success...both flights were safe and uneventful. And all is well. I'm glad to be back to lower sodium food and day-to-day life. lol

My charges were ecstatic to see me. They were clinging to me all day long today. It was refreshing. haha OK, that's all!
